  1. I've read your post on 3 seperate occasions and it's changed each time. I'm not questioning whether or not we're a well supported town team. My point was that you could go into Blackburn town centre on a match day and it's no different to any other. Wander into Newcastle for example and make no mistake, you know about it straightaway that theres a game on that day. Theres a buzz there. I still enjoy going to Ewood, the sad thing is it's not really because of the quality of football on show. I enjoy meeting up with the lads for a few beers, having a sing song and a natter. Ewoods become more of a tourist attraction than a football ground now, it's to Blackburn what the tower is to Blackpool. Theres no passion about the place and to be honest I'd go as far as to say it's actually boring at times. I'll always go to Ewood, it's an addiction to me, I have to get my fix, even if it's more like a flat pint of Heineken than a bottle of cristal. A lot of its almost like a sense of duty though and the associated factors, a LOT of people probably go to Ewood to be entertained, if they feel that's lacking they simply don't go. On another note I think it's a bit daft comparing population of towns to attendance figures. Do ALL rovers fans come from Blackburn? Do they ###### and its the same at every club. And I agree with Manchester Blue, this isn't happening at every club, even those enjoying a LOT less success than us, it's an extremely worrying trend. Will anyone dare to put their money were the old mouth is and bet me that our season ticket sales drop below 10k next year (assuming we don't finish top 4)? Before I forget SG yes I remember those away followings too. I also remember the likes Of Grimsby taking 8,000 to Anfield. Oldham was always a good day out though with a big following
  2. Don't have time to write a full reply as I've got a meeting soon. I will when I get home later on though. But, to say we have tremendous and loyal support is in my opinion way off the mark. Where on earth was this support in Div 2?!?! Jack Walker brought an instant, overnight increase in attendances that none of us could ever have imagined at the time. Those attendances peaked around the title winning season and have been very slowly slipping ever since. If we don't have a top 4 season next season we'll drop to sub-10,000 ST sales, I've no doubts about that.
  3. please tell you are not trying to say that the second best goalscorer of all time in th PL is not as good as Paul Dickov, who most his career has not been good enough to even play in th PL, unless he's got relegated in a single season. I'd guess he's trying to say that if Dickov had the natural talent Cole has he wouldn't be #2 all time, he'd be #1 (or if Cole had the desire Dickov had). Either way it's complete @#/?. Cole DID work his socks off and anyone who say's otherwise is basically a bit of a clown
  4. Well chuffed with this signing Another player with good leadership qualities too and will lead by example. Amo/Matteo/Fergie potentially rallying the troops next season can only be good news in my book.
  5. Blackburn is not a footballing town it's as simple as that. There's no 'buzz' round Ewood on matchday. There's no air of excitement round the streets of Blackburn pre-match. The difference you see when travelling to some (but not all) away games is quite something. The only way we'll fill the ground again is by challenging for the premiership, and to be honest that probably wouldn't do it any more
  6. That's the most important part of your post. From people I've talked to this is the most common reason given. A ST used to be vital to buying away tickets for most games too, not any more.
  7. Why? Not being funny but they've tried till they're blue in the face to promote our ticket sales and it NEVER works apart from the odd game. Talking bus shelters, tenner tickets etc. I reckon we've tried more initiatives than any other premiership club yet we've failed to reap the rewards.
  8. This whole thread is pretty pointless to be honest. Anyone who's genuinely interested in watching every home game for Rovers will buy a ST. Obviously theres cash/location etc to take into account. Think we should stop coming up with theories because the fact is anyone who's not interested either couldn't give a toss or hasn't got the cash/lives miles away etc.
  9. Saturday afternoon football's well and truly dead
  10. To be honest I'd rather my card wasn't very snappy. Will we be able to get free replacements when they snap?!? Or will we have to pay for them? Amateurish again Rovers, absolutely amateurish. Who designed the damn things? Dean Saunders no doubt.
  11. Watching football on TV is no subsitute for being at the ground, we all know that, I can't see this move having a big effect on ticket sales. Two Words, Scotish Football and TV Coverage. It didn't help them! What on earth's that got to do with anything?!?!?! We're talking about ENGLISH football. The introduction of SKY has co-incided with an increase in attendances, simple as that!
  12. Apparently Dean Saunders is in charge on that side of things these days, what a tosser
  13. Is that taken from the Sky Magazine? I can hear Richard Keys doing the trailer on Sky Sports as the build up to the season begins: - "........and next season we're bringing you something extra special, extended highlights of YOUR Premier League club on a Saturday night. It'll be like taking mucky polaroids of the wife and knocking one out in a cramped motorway service station toilet. It'll be that good." Don't be silly Bob. If they do that then they risk losing viewers of the adult channels, do you think this is what SKY want? NO, they want to bankrupt BRFC. Do you follow?
  14. SKY are just providing a service which there is (judging by the comments on this thread) a big demand for. Watching football on TV is no subsitute for being at the ground, we all know that, I can't see this move having a big effect on ticket sales. It will be handy for those who can't afford to travel to away games too. Watching live football at Ewood is like having sex with a beautiful woman - watching highlights on SKY will be like taking a few mucky polaroids of the wife and knocking one out in a cramped motorway service station toilet. Incidently are the people complaining about this new service from SKY going to watch it? I know I'll take advantage of it but it won't stop me going to Ewood
  15. Away games are more enjoyable, simple as that. Even more so last season due to the fact we could actually win a match away! I also spoke to a lot of people when the fixtures were released, few of whom were thinking of going to West Brom at home, most of them were lining up the away trips. It's ###### to say that this will have a big effect on season ticket sales anyway though given that our average away following is under 1000 bloody people!
  16. Well that's one good thing I suppose, one less clown on the road for the time being
  17. The team who scores more goals in open play should win, we did that but thanks to a complete tit, we didn't win. Nope not sour grapes, FACTS. I hope Sweden win it now. Good, honest hard-working team. I'd hate to see the diving portugese win it. As for that ref?!? Jesus christ
  18. And for being complete and utter crap. Shhhhhhh that might count as having a pop. Agree though
  19. I've also read it on a few reputable news websites, that he is being allowed to leave because of his previous falling outs with Jacques Santini. No mention of a fee, but as Spurs would otherwise have to pay up his contract, it may end up being a better deal for both parties. No need to have a pop either Dave. Like I said I'm not sure on the details on that. And I'm not having a pop at anyone
  20. His rumours are famous on here, for never actually happening. I'm sure I read something about Kanoute being released on a free but I might have been ###### so I'll let him have that. Anyway it's banter, I hope he's not offended cos I'm certainly not if someone on here has a pop at me
  21. Oh right, not as reliable as the head steward in the jack walker or the chelsea tv insider? Complete and utter @#/? as usual.
  22. Felt like Motty actually WANTED the croats to score. How much better the game would have been on sky
  23. You don't half chose your sources mate Anyone know if the new sports world shop will sell transfer gossip over the counter?
