Well, I'm never against new signings, and I wish him to do very well at Rovers obviously, but the midfiled and defence are the areas we should definitely looking into improving. -
Absolutely sick to the stomach. Chelsea were there to be beaten, and yet they slithered away with the 3 points. I won't comment on the penalty because I feel a rant coming up. Ooijer - he's gonna need a few games to settle in. And if we're going to try shooting from afar, maybe we should actually practise those shots. Nowhere neat the target any one of 'em. And we need to get the ball and create chances for the forwards, dammit. 1 point out of 3 games. Speaks for itself really. Terrible shame. edit: oh, and we're dead bottom of the league.

Chelsea have done nothing so far, we have definitely been the better team. We are getting the ball forward nicely, the only disappointing thing is that we baloon it high in the air as soon as we do. We need to get more passes on the ground towards the two forwards, and a goal will come. Neill has been superb so far at left back too.

to be honest, a lot of my pre-season confidence has been drained from the first two games...it's still very early on of course, but still - I don't see us getting anything from Chelsea. We won't get hammered, but I see us losing 2-1 or 3-2.
-
not too worried, we can beat anyone in that group. edit : Salzburg (Austria)

Well....I don't know what to say really. As a Rovers supporter you have to be ready for things like this, but this is utterly unacceptable. Miserable, miserable, miserable. -

sounds like we had a certain penalty not given ...and, there you go. 1-0 down. -
Seeded or unseeded, it's gonna be tough no matter who we get. Many of the small "unknown" teams can be very dangerous and send us packing. There's no room for underestimating anyone, especially with a record like ours.

Pompey have made some good signings over the summer, but I figure they'll need some time to gel together. We on the other hand have a new (impressive) strikeforce, but other than that the rest are unchanged. The good thing from that is that the players will know each other very well now, which I think is an underappreciated advantage in football. Many truly great teams aren't built on superstars but on amazing teamwork, and hopefully Sparky has gotten us together the best he could. I say 2-0 for Rovers, Roberts and MGP opening their accounts. -

No way. In fact, I haven't been this excited about a season for a long time. I think it's going to be great. -

[Archived] Italian Refereeing Scandal
Mr. E replied to philipl's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
what ?? they can't just juggle teams through the divisions whenever they please can they ? I mean ok, I can understand the points reductions being reduced a bit, but letting them back into Serie A ?? Although, I don't know what I'm surprised at. It is Italy, after all. -

it's been a long, long time coming. -
Terrible world cup. I thought the last one wasn't that good, but this certianly puts things into perspective. Too many things to blame really. The overally defensive football most teams played. We had one farce already when Greece won the last Euro cup with some of the most boring football you'll ever see, and although we didn't quite reach those depths, it was still very disappointing. Unfortunately, this is a problem I don't see how it's going to be resolved. Maybe we just have to get used to it. The refereeing. Especially the thing with the red cards. It seemed like you only needed to look someone the wrong way and you would have been off. The fault though should carry FIFA and their stupid new rules. The lack of fairplay. Although some teams could not be faulted for it, others more than made up *cough*Portugal*cough*. There were a few great moments, and quite a lot of brilliant goals, but overall it just didn't live up to it's name.

Zidane's action was beyond idiotic, I don't know what the hell he was thinking there. And the Italians are world cup champions....what a nightmare.
