  1. I struggle to understand why he doesn't put Chapman on the bench? At least it would give us a bit of flair and pace when chasing a game (which is every game...). Especially with Dack missing yesterday. It makes no sense.
  2. I suppose I'm struggling to see him turning this around. We seem to lack direction and he can't seem to solve our defensive frailties. I like TM, but if he was sacked tomorrow I wouldn't be too disappointed. In fact, I'd prefer him to leave before the fanbase turn with his reputation in tact. I suppose weakening the squad in the January transfer market when we were just outside the playoffs was what irked me most. Just a couple more wins in the last 8 matches and we'd be right up there. Kind of criminal really.
  3. Theres more 'desire, commitment, drive and honesty' on show at Crufts this evening!
  4. I try to avoid knee-jerk reactions and I want TM to succeed as I think he's a genuinely good guy who brought some integrity and honesty back to the club when it was at its lowest ebb. However... his lack of ambition in the January transfer window has backfired monumentally. Whats especially galling is how every other team in the play-off contest have stumbled along with mediocre form. Had we won just 2 of the last 6 games (starting with Reading and Rotherham!) we would still be in the shake-up! I also cannot fathom why we let Paul Downing go out on loan given our poor defensive record and injury prone defenders. The other massive warning sign is the teams soft underbelly. We lose to weaker teams, we cannot hold a lead, we concede late on, we concede after scoring, we have a porous defence. Its suddenly looking gloomy when we should have been using our momentum just 1 month ago to move the club forward. A real shame and a massive opportunity spurned.
  5. Back him of course! We are more than likely to consolidate our league status after getting promoted at the first time of asking. People need to get a grip. We are on a shocking run at present and the signing of Brereton seems to be an aberration, but apart from that he is doing pretty well! It's easy to let our current form cloud your judgement, but we need to look at the bigger picture and we are definitely on an upwards trajectory.
  6. I am conflicted when it comes to TM. My hunch is that he will struggle to take us any further. I don't feel like he is ruthless enough to get the best out of the players and the soft underbelly that we repeatedly show is evidence of that. Having said that, he deserves more time to prove the doubters wrong as he has generally done a sterling job so far. His most significant contribution has been the way he reversed the club's rapid descent and brought some pride back in the badge. He has mostly achieved this by being a thoroughly nice man. He deserves to be given every reasonable opportunity to get us back to the promised land!
  7. People must have ridiculously high expectations. To be in with a shout of the play offs the first season after promotion is really rather impressive. We are not going to win them all!
  8. Have a football team ever conspired to ruin a festive period so categorically? For the third time in under 2 weeks I'm like a bear with a sore head. Bah humbug.
  9. "There is no such thing as being overweight" I bet Michelle McManus is delighted with this news!
  10. Im currently living up in Scotland and found this match hugely amusing. My scottish friends were saying how they believed Scotland were on the cusp of something special lol, and then they go and lose to Belarus. My Scottish room mate took some serious stick!
  11. Have managed to meet a friend of MGP here at uni! I was somewhat impressed!
  12. Aww, that was my 1st ever rovers game! It was a night match if i remember rightly. I met Filan outside ground when he had a broken arm and was a funny guy! I went to one of those MOTD days at NEC centre birmingham and met Geoff Hurst and Simon Grayson! Odd mix! Also had a chat with Ray Stubbs who had very flakey skin! Have had numerous encounters with Nicky Barmby and other Hull City players in my local Gym! Seen Nicky in Locker room! Now that is a close encounter!
  13. Met full team before start of premiership winning title. I had never been to Blackburn before and saw stadium and this guy came up to my dad and said that the players were about to arrive to have club photo for next season taken at the stadium and that we could meet them. Remember getting signatures from Le Saux, shearer and flowers but got to speak with Sutton who asked me whether we would win the league, I replied 'yes' and as if by magic we won it. I see Hull city players most days as they train near my house. Also met Paul Robinson on many occasions as he is from area and went to my school and golf club. Also met numerous random Norwegian players (not including MGP) whilst staying at La Manga. A team named Honefoss stayed in the appartment block opposite mine and they were really friendly lads. If anyone is interested in rugby league my mum is the midwife foe the kids of kiwi Richard Swain who plays for Hull FC!
  14. Was at the match! Gally had a shocking 1st half but gradually grew in confidence in the second and played some good football. The goal was quite a simple finish but he was well positioned at the front post. I coudnt understand the booking, he seemingly did nothing!
  15. Savage has done fine for me all season and I think that people who slate him are just jumping on the media bandwagon. If you actually watch the matches rather than read some biased report and watch doctored highlights your opinion of Robbie may change. He brakes up potential attacks and is always 1st to jump in to block crosses and shots. He also poses an attacking threat. He is a decent passer and has the ability to deliver quality from set-pieces (this is the one area of Savs game that i have been a little dissapointed with- ie. the constant corners that go too deep). I think he has an essential role to play in the team and todays performance proved that. I agree that he gets booked too often, but with a player of his style its going to happen. Even if he has a dreadful game and does nothing right he still shows 100% commitment and that has an effect on the other players. I have often wondered whether Sav is just a joke and that his apparent stupidity with the media is all a laugh for him. He may well be an intellegent guy who just does strange things to stir things up a bit and who loves the controversy. If it is the case then he is very good at it and gets plenty of column inches. Just a thought...but on the other hand, he could just be a total idiot
  16. It was 4-1 but Jansen didnt get a hat-rick. I think the goals were scored by Bent, Hignett, Dunn and Jansen but not sure. Ricketts scored for them.
  17. Interesting debate, i tend to think that Wez and chums are just enjoying themselves and having a laugh. They are probably really annoying but football is like that. You get fans from all walks of life and some people like to sit quietly and others like to sing and drink etc. It sounds like they wound up the villa fans, but banter occurs at all matches and they would never expect to be bricked, so it really isnt their fault. Would you all like football to be a silent game or do you want a decent atmosphere? I dont mind characters like wez and friends and feel that they are part and parcel of the football experience. At the end of the day whether you are a 'drunk' or not we all support the same team so we should just accept that people are different.
