  1. I don't think that's the case at all. Most fans I come across travel in from the surrounding area.
  2. Just more positives about JDT for me. He quickly saw that Butterworth wasn't up to snuff (didn't even give him a squad number) and after 45 minutes he's seen the same with JRC too (tried to loan him out on deadline day). He clearly knows what it's meant to look like. Edun next I hope.
  3. JRC is as unathletic as Pickering - he can't get up and down the flank too. Whenever he's looked passable playing FB / WB is against teams that have literally camped just outside their 18 yard box and invited us on them. I don't think it's fair on Buckley to ask him to play WB either.
  4. He had a hard time because for as good as Wharton was on Wednesday he was equally as bad on Saturday. Whether he was knackered from his exertions against Blackpool or the situation overawed him (home debut at his boyhood club) I don't know, but he needed taking off at half time.
  5. Why is everyone obsessed with playing 3 at the back when we only have 1 WB in our squad... and he's currently injured. Pickering gets murdered at this level being asked to patrol an entire flank on his own - he simply can't get up and down (so he picks staying back).
  6. This obsession with playing Brereton central is weird. Every time he's played there he's been bullied by big Championship CBs. His best attributes are his workrate and his ability to carry the ball - ignore the fact that he's 6'3" and looks like he could handle the rough stuff. He can't. He's scored 4 in 8 drifting in from the left - he's incredibly difficult to pick up from that position and it works for him. The hope is that Hirst grabs the opportunity to play #9 with both hands and provides our attack with more bite.
  7. We scored twice against them and, bar a few last ditch tackles / unlucky ricochets, could have scored many more. They're a good, solid, mid-table Championship side. I aspire to be better - or at least more entertaining (I thought they were dull af to watch).
  8. Morton is a good player at this level - he's clearly finding his feet. I assume you're talking about Buckley as being inexperienced in the deep role? I don't see that, personally - it's his natural position.
  9. Unfortunately we're in the second tier of football. If you want players in our price bracket that are consistent then you're stuck with the Bennetts and Evans' of the world.
  10. His first choice was Colak, we all know that. Broughton is just playing the game with that comment. I thought Hirst looked like a good player today, just needs some time to bed in. He provides us something different upfront.
  11. They won't make the Playoffs. They're a big, physical (which is never pulled up), organised side that has some pace upfront and is good at set pieces. They hit us with two sucker-punches today - JDT will be disappointed with that.
  12. He's fit enough to run out for the U21s and during cup matches, but not in the league. I wonder if JDT just doesn't fancy him?
  13. I thought Hirst showed promise today - squared two balls that should have been scored from. Obviously he snatched at the one chance he got himself. It'll take time for his teammates to understand the runs he makes - he very much looked like a guy who met his new teammates on Thursday. The CB he signed during the week I think has been signed to play LB. He'll eventually displace Pickering if he's got anything about him (playing through all the England age groups suggests he does).
  14. I thought he was better today that I've seen him all season - but I still think he's way off Championship standard.
  15. He's a L1 player. Thankfully JDT has worked out that he's not a FB. Fingers crossed he doesn't get a look in at CM too moving forward.
  16. Pickering is a good L1 LB - which unfortunately means he's a poor Championship LB. Brereton scored, again. At the end of the day that's his job and he's done it 4 times already this season. Apparently Hedges rolled his ankle in the warm-ups - I thought he looked well off his game today.
  17. In the competition designed to kill County Cricket? No thanks.
  18. It would have been brave to drop him after the performance on Wednesday, but in hindsight perhaps he should have been dropped for Buckley for today.
  19. They literally scored two sucker-punch goals on the break and a third where the ref had blown his whistle before the ball crossed the line. Wharton looked tired today, so did a lot of our players - thats where the lack of depth comes into play. Disappointing result, I thought we were good enough for a draw, but that's the Championship for you - Bristol City are built for it - big, strong, allowed to kick lumps out of you and look to hit you on the break. Mid-table mediocrity beckons for them.
  20. Unlucky not to be 1-0 ahead in the first minute - miss of the season contender.
  21. He needs to come off for Buckley at half time, he looks knackered.
  22. https://twitter.com/Rovers/status/1566015144357945344?t=Q2j4vlVesUWHTBe05J7XXg&s=19
  23. Isn't he on the bench? He was taking shots in the warm-ups just now.
  24. But a stronger bench than we had mid-week. Baby steps.
