  1. Honestly, this league is so shit that we could go down there today and smash Fulham.
  2. You missed Raya off the outgoings. The final bit of business today (shipping out Mulgrew and bringing in Cunningham) pushes it to a good transfer window for me. We pretty much washed our face and improved our defence and midfield from last year. I'm not a big fan of Gallager, but he'll see a lot of action this season so time will tell. I'm keen to see how Magliore gets on at Rochdale and how much time the vaunted U23 starlets get as the season progresses.
  3. So basically we have to sign 7 new players to have a good transfer window? Also Jenkinson is guff. Can't defend for toffee, which is a worrying feature for a right back.
  4. We've had far more humiliating days - this was just a slightly disappointing transfer window. How can making a cheeky loan bid for Reed be seen as a bad thing? He wouldn't have started this year. Southampton can laugh at the bid - he's 24 and they're still pimping him around the Championship for a bit of extra income. He's clearly not that good. As for the defence being weaker, give over. It's significantly stronger (assuming he plays the strongest 4 on our books - Cunningham, TA, Lenihan, Nyambe).
  5. On the flip side we've probably stopped the 10/12 goals per season he's at fault for.
  6. Cunningham, Lenihan, Adarabioyo, Nyambe is a better back 4 than we fielded at any point last year.
  7. He's not better than Johnson and Travis. I'd like him in the side over Evans and Smallwood, but if he's a top Championship player who's clearly not good enough for the Prem - we have two of those already in CM.
  8. Like Rothwell, he should be banging down the door of his agent asking for a move.
  9. He's nothing more than an average manager, which is obviously a damn sight better than a lot of the blokes that have paraded through Ewood in recent years. That said, the Rao family are still in charge so I don't trust them to hire a better one should Mowbray be fired. We're in limbo as a club until they sell.
  10. Thought he could have done better with the first - you have to command your six yard box as a goalkeeper. Admittedly Bennett was nowhere to be seen at the back post.
  11. I thought he was poor last time he was here, but again people around me thought he was a really promising player. Doesn't have enough about him for mine.
  12. Mulgrew is a terrible player at this level.
  13. I thought it was a poor signing anyway - indicates as a manager that you don't think Brereton is up to it. Money should have been spent on replacing Mulgrew.
  14. A small, error prone shot stopper?
  15. So Rovers fans don't know their football?
  16. Emerton came to us as a wing back (and he'd be by far our best player today, sadly).
  17. You just have to look at the varying opinions on this board to see that we can't agree on any player. I'll trust Guardiola over your mate - we'll see who's right.
  18. Top level sport is brutal. He helped us get up, which we're all thankful for, but now he's a liability. We've thanked him by paying his wages - time to move on.
  19. You don't drastically improve your game at 22. He's a big unit who has a knack for scoring goals. He can't trap a bag of cement though so he'll never progress that high up the football pyramid. Good move for both parties involved.
  20. If the replacement is significantly better, which we have to hope he is, then it's criminal to start Mulgrew just because he has experience playing with Lenihan. It's not rocket science - they won't be asking Tosin to do anything he hasn't been doing at an extremely competitive level since he was 16.
  21. Nice save. To me he's not worth £15m, so I'd have sold him when that offer came in. He's often a passenger and his lack of mobility really dictates our style of play (that and lumping it up to Graham). Each to their own though.
  22. Holy shit, we played 90 games last year? I knew it was a slog, but bloody hell that seems a bit much!
  23. I can only assume that he's a significant upgrade on Mulgrew (who really can't defend at this level). So whilst it's not an experienced CB, we're in a better position now than we were at the start of last year. Personally I think it's frustrating because this league is there for the taking (the quality is really poor), but we don't seem to have the desire to push on and win it.
  24. I'd have flogged him for £15m when West Brom came calling last year, but that's just me. Too often he just goes missing.
  25. It's a long, gruelling season. Of course they should be starting games - just as few as possible.
