  1. Because he at least tries to head it. Mulgrew is always exposed. Right now there’s no-one else.
  2. Watched Mulgrew for the first goal a few times - disgracefully pathetic. Follows some bloke back to our line, turns his back on the flight of the ball, stands there uselessly while the header goes in, then just trudges upfield like it had gone over the bar. He’s 6’4”, our main centre half, no hint of taking any responsibility at all for attacking that ball. Plus he was nowhere for the other two. Drop the bloody clown and his trick cornets. I’d even rather have Williams there.
  3. Leutwiler Nyambe Williams Mulgrew Conway Travis Rodwell Evans Rothwell Armstrong Nuttall
  4. You should tell Balaji, I’m sure he’ll oblige. Back to the game, I’m baffled as to how our allegedly three best forwards couldn’t land a punch in a shite team. On the plus side, I can’t see Rotherham picking up many points.
  5. He’s shown them a lot of loyalty Tony, and got very little back for it. I suppose our only hope is we can get some kind of fee for them, but not from anyone who watched the last few games. Eight shipped against Reading and Rotherham!
  6. I for one am getting tired of the “chance to prove themselves at a higher level” mantra. The combined age of Mulgrew, Graham and Conway is over 100 and they, along with Williams, Lenihan and Evans were stalwarts in a team that got relegated from this higher level. So how are Raya, Nyambe, Smallwood, Bell, Dack, Travis and Armstrong doing at this higher level? Only Dack and Travis for me, and maybe Nyambe and Armstrong will get there.
  7. If that’s the case it’s even worse, he’s not a 6-year-old.
  8. “Yet a long throw in to our box is headed in to our net, a simple cross is headed in to our net, a goalkeeper, wow, two pathetic kicks and the ball is in the air in his six yard box yet he’s practically in the net rather than coming to catch it.” Turn words into action Tony or you’ll be back playing with your kids in the garden.
  9. Raya needs replacing, it all starts from there. A commanding keeper is essential. Nyambe worth persevering with, maybe Rodwell too, but Charlie needs replacing. Bell looking every inch a 3rd tier player when defending. Bennett can eff off, Rothwell must start and a strike force of Graham, Armstrong and Dack is mid-table at best. The manager needs to break up the cosy dressing room culture - which it seems doesn’t include Rothwell -or he will deserve to be out of a job.
  10. What a bunch of crap that was. Pansy defending for their first long throw, all huff and puff after that. I’m still waiting for Bennett to do something useful (in his career, not just today). Dack looks so ordinary these days, Armstrong a one-trick pony. Long balls to Graham are just daft against these giants. Get Rothwell and Reed on and play some football.
  11. Terrific. I hope Gordon Lee is on your list for a future one, but not too far in the future...
  12. A team covering the three divisions: Sir Roger Sir Keith Hendry Hunter Le Saux Rippers Tugay Knighton Duffer Shearer Bellamy
  13. We didn’t need any of that modern nonsense to turn it on at Sett End, along with @Claytons Left Boot
  14. Shocked to read in today’s LT that, even though we have conceded bucketloads, Raya has made more saves than any other keeper in the division! Go, Defence!!
  15. Mulgrew at fault again for me with the second, his man, didn’t track him or close him down. The man is just a set piece circus act. Take the point though, stopped the run of defeats at a tough ground. Smallwood man of match for me, got it and gave it.
  16. Another ludicrous goal: Mulgrew shouldn’t have given it to Bell, Bell fooked up then Mulgrew defended like a girl, turning his back on the shooter. Got back into it but usual story of half chances rather than goal chances. 1-1
  17. Not necessarily. I still think the owners set different financial parameters for the amount of funds available based on possible future paybacks: young English players who do well do generate much bigger sale fees down the line than grizzled foreigners. Context is everything on the one game scout. If that’s the first tine anyone watched him it does sound reckless. If he goes to give the final yes/no after multiple scoutings and strong recos by his team then not so much.
  18. Great updates, thanks lads. I’ve always thought there’s been far to much getting knickers in a twist over what he says immediately post-game - the poor guy’s blood pressure is still probably 200/120 and someone shoves a mic under his nose. I suppose we could grouse about giving last year’s team a go, but that’s pretty much over now and it’s not like it’ll have got us relegated. Roll on this summer, could be transformative.
  19. Your 8 posts in the last hour arguing with infrequent posters who think he’s doing an OK job illustrates my point perfectly.
  20. Nine times as many as think he should be sacked. Every defeat brings multiple posts from the few who want him fired, the ones who don’t do not post with the same frequency.
  21. The silent majority has spoken. We don’t have 122 frequent posters, so the poll shows that many of the threads on here are not representative of overall fan sentiments.
  22. I’m still not sure if it was a foul or not, but I’m sure there’s no way the ref can have been sure given he was at least 30 yards behind the ball. He was stationery on the half way line expecting Charlie to head it forwards, and reacted a lot slower than the players chasing the ball. Plus the lino was side on so he couldn’t know either. Watching the highlights again, Rodwell was a lot worse than I thought at the time for the goal plus the sending off chase.
  23. Maybe, but Armstrong started in the middle against Reading and Reed in centre kid today and both were cack. Surely their chance to prove the boss wrong.
  24. I thought at the time Charlie not being allowed to play for Scotland was behind it. Mowbray being too pally then putting his foot down could well have turned a few off. Not that players need much excuse to point the finger and nothing be their fault. The Brereton thing, and I’m convinced he was signed over Mowbrays head, may have convinced a few more he’s not got the clout to wield the axe.
