  1. Have I wandered onto the Brentford thread by mistake?? “Dreadful team”, Woeful lack of depth”, “shit bench”.... Mogga said he’d pick a team he thought could do the job, so I’ll give him the benefit till 7.55 Caddis in shop window imo.
  2. By far the worst thing about this board is the endless picking apart of what Chaddy says. What other anonymous people think about what one anonymous person thinks is about as boring as life can get. Anyway, let’s hope this lad can force his way into the team, as he won’t get handed a shirt just because of the fee,
  3. The average contract is three years so, in a 23-man squad, on average 8 will be out of contract per year....
  4. Replacing 2-3 of a 23-man squad a year implies an average tenure per player of around a decade....! Even Bobby Saxton didn’t manage that.
  5. Who’d have thought Lincoln City would have had a winning record over us!
  6. I thought Berg was hopeless in his debut in the semifinal home leg against the Owls; cost us a shot at a final and would never recover from it.
  7. Terrific performance and result. Raya two superb saves, Evans is transformed from the dark days of last winter, much better from Smallwood, Rothwell is miles better for us than Payne ever was, Bennett the heartbeat and leader of the team. Top 5, undefeated, three clean sheets out of five. Fabulous start.
  8. I think the question is will the rest of the team be livid. Livid they are starting a man short, I’d expect Bennett in his spot; livid you can get thrown under the bus for one bad game, I’d expect him to start and be first to be subbed.
  9. Here’s my Mystic Meg: he won’t go straight into the team. Mowbray has made it crystal clear that no-one will. The incumbents own the shirts until someone proves (to the dressing room as well as Mogga) that they deserve it more. Team spirit trumps everything at the Arte Et Labore Rovers.
  10. If anyone can get a tune out of this junk shop fiddle, it’s Mogga. Our dressing room cameraderie and never-say-die performances haven’t come from nowhere, they are the result of his man-management, which I think is Tony’s outstanding attribute.
  11. I agree 100%. He’s having not just a career renaissance with us but I feel it’s going to be more than that, I think he’s reinventing himself. I can see us going up with him at the helm in the next couple of years.
  12. I enjoyed the second half a lot. Positives: clean sheet, not being outclassed, Palmer and Joe Rochina are substantial upgrades on Payne and Antonsson, back 4, Benno’s versatility, nothing for Raya to save in 2nd half. Negatives: Graham missing two one-on-ones (both of which I felt Armstrong would’ve scored), Charlie’s free kicks, soft in the middle for both their post-hitting efforts, Smallwood, scout tent in Darwen End.
  13. Smallwood is the only one who looks like he doesn’t belong IMO. Get Benno in there with Armstrong on the left and we’ll win 2-0.
  14. I’d really appreciate it if someone could post a picture of the feature on Eamonn Rogers in tomorrow’s programme
  15. 1-0. Garner cross, Crawford header into the Blackburn End goal. McKenzie running the show in midfield.
  16. As Mogga will no doubt be disappointed then so am I, disappointed for him but not in him. Two points temper my disappointment: 1) We are not an attractive proposition for players with substantial championship experience, not in a division awash with big city clubs who haven’t just been promoted from League One, along with plenty of clubs large and small receiving vast tv payments. 2) It’s a transfer market, not a bazaar where you simply select what you want and buy it. For every buyer there has to be a seller - few and far between this summer throughout the division - plus the player and his agent have to want to move, to us. While Mogga may have been a little too open in his wishes, making them come about is largely out of his hands. Not spunking the money on duds is a better outcome than more than a few windows we’ve had in the past
  17. If we get relegated, I’m sure there’ll be bigger reasons than a scabby goal in the first week of August.
  18. I suppose Clough had no idea what he was doing making Trevor Francis pick up the boots after signing him as the first million pound player. “Welcome to the club, you have to learn how we play, work your bollocks off in training and earn your place in the team ahead of Scotland’s captain and Ireland’s best defender, but I have faith you can do it.”
  19. I thought from his comments over summer it was obvious Mowbray was going to give last year’s team the chance to prove themselves at this level. If I was picked to start and looked over at that bench I’d be very clear that if I didn’t win my one-on-one battle then the hook wouldn’t be long coming. Good man management IMO.
  20. I’m sure Revidge will be on soon to tell us it’s head in the gas oven time!
  21. Isn’t the phrase Happy Clappers a tad dated now on the back of a promotion season, given there were 27,000 of them on the ground last game we played?
