Please explain how we are short up front? There are 2 spots in the current formation. They're contested by BBD, Khadra, Gallagher, Dolan, Markanday (if he signs, and I'm guessing you meant as well as him) and even Butterworth. That's 6 players for 2 spots. Markanday isn't leaving Spurs (who he supports) due to not playing there in order to not play here. Midfield I agree, and then a reliable backup goalie who won't chuck the ball in our own net.

Put him on the bench then. We have a league to get out of. Your country's choice to use a high elevation to gain an unfair advantage against your opponent is not only not our problem, but you'll have nearly a full team who will have acclimated whilst your opponents haven't. If that's not enough, tough. Not directed at you per se, just the notion that we should be missing our top scorer in a crucial promotion charge due to your tactical decisions regarding games that are already being played outside of the international break. We wish Chile the best, and wish Ben the best playing for Chile. But no way in hell would I be sanctioning him missing a game that's 3 whole days before yours if it's in our power.

Very harsh to say Dack slowed down play. Don't agree with that. He isn't the quickest (quicker than he gets credit for though) but he is a quick thinker which compensates. You may be thinking of the need we used to have to lump it to Graham so he could knock it down for Dack, and then obviously Graham wasn't all that quick for playing a through ball etc back to. With different tactics and players around him I don't think he will slow play at all. Unless his injuries have taken their toll, that is. But he won't be bursting in behind the lines with tons of pace like Khadra and Brereton...he should be able to play them in nicely though.

And that one had an even harder time getting into the Hertha side...plus we were in the Prem.

That's interesting, because I think Scott Wharton is going to be a Premiership defender. Best CB (potential wise) to break through since Jones. Better than Hanley ever was for us. If his brother has even more potential, that's excellent. And both Rovers fans from Blackburn, right? We have a really exciting crop. Of course the reality is always that at least half of the ones we are excited about won't make it here, but if anything like half of them do, it will be a huge boon.

Obviously that's an unrealistic fee but I'd take it without hesitation. Sorts out the money for promotion without getting promotion..and is enough money to buy a replacement, strengthen elsewhere and still potentially go up. With money to spare.

I know we have the two kids of course, but Lenihan definitely counts as experienced and Ayala is waiting in the wings. Nyambe is experienced by now for me, despite still being young. Pickering has over 160 career appearances. Even Wharton and Van Hecke had professional experience before now on loans in League Two and the Dutch leagues. But I was more talking in the sense that if it's important to have experience anywhere, those are the positions where having someone experienced is most effective. If Lenihan and Ayala were out, I'd suddenly be a lot less confident about a defence of Wharton, Van Hecke and Carter for any stretch of time, not that I think any of them are crap.

Agreed, it's one of those football mantras that sounds nice in theory, but the reality doesn't always match up. I want hungry players more than I want experienced ones. GK and CB are your most important positions in terms of where you need experience, and we have it there.

Not just about this match but I'm not sure where to put this. I hope Pickering's injury is more the 4 weeks than the 6. If he missed 6 weeks from the injury date, he would be out for 8 games. We only have 21 games left, so that's more than a third of our remaining season. Then he would come back to play three rock hard games that he might not be fit for. Edun better be a capable deputy. I also struggle/dread to think who plays there if Edun gets an injury or a ban...maybe one of the new right backs could cover there briefly.

Tbh...and of course it's just highlights...reminds me of Buckley from those clips. Nicks the ball well and has a great range of passing. Physically sturdier than him though. As ever the question is, can he do the stuff on the highlights with any consistency (them all being from one month is promising though) and can he step up a level and do it against better players? For the right price though, wouldn't mind a punt. Hard to see how he gets past Dack to compete for that Buckley role, but perhaps capable of operating deeper.

Nobody I've seen has been complaining about the moral outrage of it, just that we have allowed an unacceptable situation which has never happened to BRFC (on this scale, all at once) since the bosmans became a thing.

I'm not going to argue with you. You're not for persuading anyway, and quite frankly on this neither am I unless those contract offers and wages do become public which they won't. I'm very confident we could make them offers that they'd sign and which would give us more in asset value than they would cost, and that we are just being cheap whilst costing ourselves money as Waggott has shown repeatedly he is a short term financial thinker.
