  1. Think as a club we did mess up a bit after winning the league, a bit too much loyalty shown to the side who lets be honest limped over the line at the end. That summer for me we were crying out for some strength in the key positions. A new centre half, a central midfielder, a left winger and a striker were musts to keep us challenging. No reason why we couldn't have gone on and got a couple more league titles and maybe a domestic cup or two in the rest of the 90's. Obviously by the time oil money came in we would no doubt have slid down the league anyway looking at the top 6 as our ceiling much like we did from 01-10 before these idiots came in. Grateful for what we witnessed, but a real missed opportunity to take it a bit further I think.
  2. Probably not, but wouldn't be more beneficial to have someone like say O'Grady Macken in the squad rather than Forshaw? (Don't know if he is any good by the way but only midfielder could think of who must be 19/20 by now?)
  3. Ah right, yeah I wouldn't be believing that personally.
  4. Rudy's eyes lit up at the budget question and getting in another chance to tell everyone we don't get transfer fees all up front. Also telling us how grateful we should be to the owners again. When was the above recorded? Feel like it was before the one further up.
  5. What reports are these? As always said, they aren't going anywhere, and no chance they put the club in admin and handover the power to someone else. They will still be here at the turn of the next decade, while the club rots away in either the 3rd or 4th division.
  6. We didn't manage to get away tickets unfortunately as we didn't quite have enough stubs to qualify, think we were one maybe two short but did manage to go and sit in the Anfield Road End with the Liverpool fans. My mum used to work lunchtimes in a pub in the week and two Liverpool fans who were season ticket holders used to go in every lunchtime for a couple of pints and got to know my mum quite well. After the Newcastle Monday night game they went in and gave her there season tickets for the day so we could go and watch and experience it as it was a pretty nothing game for them and they had obviously seen Liverpool win numerous leagues. I didn't find out until the morning of the game which was probably the best surprise I have ever had. Of course I went decked out in blue and white and nobody bat an eyelid, and the Liverpool fans were brilliant with us, we were in the block nearest to the Rovers fans but when we took our seats everyone ushered us along so we could be right next to the Rovers fans for the best experience possible. Felt really lucky as a 14 year old lad being able to witness all that when there were thousands of long standing Rovers fans who couldn't get anywhere near a ticket. My lad is 14 now and is every bit invested in Rovers as I was then, just a shame the experience nowadays is so so different. Venkys out.
  7. An absolute berk this guy is.
  8. No chance this is true. If that happens, then questions start to be asked and the owners come under the spotlight. Venkys will never allow that to happen.
  9. Travis interview stinks of "season is going to shit and nobody likes the new manager, quick get the captain out there to say a few hollow words". And as for VI, he's spent the last two weeks saying he's not going to change anything because of how well the players have done, now he's saying his style will take time to implement as it's a completely different way of playing. Playing us for fools, every single one of them, and i include the players in that.
  10. I imagine JRC goes to wing back if we carry on with the 3 at the back.
  11. You're only saying that because Dunn said it after the game on Radio Lancs. As said above, you can't play Cantwell and Dolan together. If we have to persist with 3 at the back then someone has to come into midfield and make it more a 352 rather than a 343.
  12. Double edged sword. I'd love to see Adam as the heartbeat in that England side going forward, but I don't want venkys to get there hands on any international clauses that might have been included in the deal, as I believe friendly's don't count towards it.
  13. Think even them days are gone now. Everyone has given up. The fact it's so important to Cardiff makes me think they will slightly edge it.
  14. Either be 0-0 or a 1-0 defeat. Everyone has given up.
  15. I'd rather Rudy look into nothing, keep him away from as much decision making as possible.
  16. None I imagine. When ever Steve can be bothered to fit it into his jam packed schedule.
  17. Anyone expecting a reaction from this lot are going to be really disappointed. We have a losing mentality, 10 defeats in the last 17 games tells you everything you need to know. Pretty much given up the lot of them. Easiest points Stoke will get all season, but the bad news for them is that we still have to go to Pompey and Luton, plus Cardiff at Ewood on Saturday.
  18. At least 6 weeks, we won't be seeing him again this season.
  19. We couldn't get near them for a good hour I would say? The subs perked us up a little bit but you would never have thought we were the home team in that game. Fair play to getting the last minute equaliser but we were second best and poor for the majority.
  20. 9 defeats in the last 16 games. A pathetic run of form.
  21. The plan was for Pears to be a long term number one as soon as he signed that new contract in May 2023. You don't sign a deal for that long to sit on the bench. Worryingly, the keepers we have bought in since appear to be even worse.
  22. Once, a 4-0 win against Cov at St Andrews during Covid. Stoke 3 Rovers 0 Easiest 3 points they will ever have.
  23. Just over a year on. I'm guessing your opinion has changed?
