  1. These two statements seem very different Jim, surely 0.01 percent of England fans couldn't terrorise half of Portugal.
  2. Absolutely spot on. The trouble that has been reported is similar to trouble you see in every holiday resort, I'm not condoning it but it is a fact that there is trouble in the Algarve with British Holiday makers every year. We should be focusing on that and not trying to link it to the football. I'm suprised nobody has picked up on the massive problems in Birmingham and London after the France defeat. There were fights over here too, I suppose that was all down to the fans over in Lisbon as well was it!!!!.
  3. I have just returned from Portugal and would like to put Jims comments into perspective. The England fans have NOT terrorised half of Portugal, none of the reported trouble has been anywhere near the towns England are playing in. I have spent the last week in Lourinha, Lisbon, Leira, Marquiteira, Peniche, Areie De branca to name a few. The locals have welcomed us, the opposing teams fans have also been keen to have a kick around or play volleyball. I have seen absolutely no trouble at all. The problems have all been in the Algarve (the other end of the country to where England are playing). There have been reports of heavy handed policing which never helps in these incidents. You come out of a bar at 1.30 am and have police on horseback, police with riot gear and dogs. It only takes one idiot to say something and it all kicks off. The real England supporters should not all be painted with the same brush. I have met some amazing people over the last week, some have followed England to every game for the last 10 years or so. They have also highlighted the press' misconception of the typical England fan. I'm sure you would have been keen to report the kick about between england fans and swiss fans in Coimbra, or the english and French fans sharing a drink in Lisbon but it doesn't sell papers does it Jim, you stick to your view that all England fans are Hooligans and keep reporting it in the papers, thats what people want to hear and the press love to write.
  4. Its done everytime To everybody who ever bought a ticket???? or just people who bought season tickets.
  5. Apart from Early Season Odds The Alan Smith Type Tickets have arrives (where you posted loads of times trying to sell tickets) Houllier Non of these were rovers related threads.
  6. Thats fine, whenever you post a non rovers related post I guess admin and mods are allowed to delete it. Obviously as we are only allowed to discuss Rovers you won't be posting on any other subjects.
  7. Leicester scored 48 goals last season and Dickov scored 13 of them, thats not a bad return really. I would imaginge he has been bought in as a replacement for the (hopefully) departing Yorke. Instead of analysing this transfer too much we should just ask ourselves the question "Who would you prefer, Yorke or Dickov??". The 100k fee is nothing when you look at what we are paying Yorke to sit around and do nothing.
  8. Which is why I have just edited it AESF. Americans comments still read in context but take up a lot less space.
  9. No new news then, that was reported on Sunday.
  10. I agree with a number of your points Theno, I disagree with your comments on Dean Saunders. A number of players (I recall Duff being one of them) have come out and said his attacking coaching has helped improve their goalscoring, this season we scored more goals than the previous season when we finished 6th. I'm not 100% sure about his abilities as assistant manager but I would certainly keep him there as a coach. It would make sense to get someone in to look after the defensive side of things. Give Colin Hendry a call before he accepts the Blackpool job.
  11. Oklahoma, the England fans will be enticed and will react. I'm afraid there will be some very negative press about England Fans causing trouble. Look back to the World Cup in 2002, the Japanese and Korean authority's made England fans feel welcome and there was no trouble at all. We have already seen the Portugeuse police having practice sessions with "pretend" football hooligans who they put in england shirts, not the best way to make a footy fan feel welcome is it.
  12. Direct flight to Lisbon = £120 Car hire for a week = £130 Villa for a week in Lourinha = £160 Expecting Latvia V Czechs but receiving Holland V Germany = PRICELESS!!!
  13. No problem, its just that its likely to be pretty damn warm for driving.
  14. Its quite a trek from Faro to Lisbon though. Its 260km, if you need to go from Faro to Porto its 530 km.
  15. you will struggle to get a flight now.
  16. I'd be up for meeting up Waggy. I'm not going on the lash before hand, I want to remember everything about this game. I'll be with my brother.
  17. Is that due to the Burnleh nutters Waggy?? Hadn't thought wearing a Rovers shirt would have caused too many problems. I'll stick to an England one.
  18. GET IN!!!!!! Just picked up tickets, I thought I had Latvia V Czech Republic but I have actually got Germany V Holland. So the two random games I picked were England V France and Germany V Holland
  19. Mine are here too Waggy. I'll be in Laurinha (sp?), a little wa outside Lisbon. I'll also be at England France, and will more than likely be in my Rovers shirt.
  20. I'm still peed off that I couldn't make it. I think Gav and Debs should set up a B&B for all the waifs and strays they have kindly taken in off the mb. I include myself in that list.
  21. What is it about Souness and players with 4 letters in their surname. He's sold Dunn and Duff, got rid of Berg, and this season he's fallen out with Todd and Cole.
  22. I have that book, it is so good, very amusing had me in stitches some of the comedy antics they used to get up to!!! 12 months and 1 day since I posted that, still think its a nice easy read. If your into true crime books Essex Boys and Wannabe in my gang are both pretty good.
  23. Not really seen anything this season to indicate that. I remember Steve Bruce saying that the last time Dunny's hamstring went, it was caused by................................................... wait for it................................ lifting his leg!!!!!! For gods sake, how will he ever have a decent career if his hamstring goes when he lifts his leg, its kind of a crucial part of playing football, being able to lift your leg.
