  1. Why does passing the ball around aimlessly ‘create value’?
  2. It’s an *option* to buy Hirst? Like Zeefuik? Not a definite loan to buy, like the BB deal? Right? Right?
  3. Yeah that was kind of my point, Chaddy, in reply to yours that was implying that they are still in the habit of sacking them!
  4. They’ve sacked two managers since 2013. Pretty much unheard of in the modern game at any other long standing Championship club.
  5. Every DoF would describe their club as a ‘project’ or ‘on a journey’. It’s just the modern day corporate waffle you hear across the game. All clubs are trying to improve and ergo ‘on a journey’ of sorts, but calling it ‘a project’ doesn’t mean they are immune to criticism.
  6. Whoever brought ‘blimey’ to the board… thanks for that!
  7. It’s only a taxi for Tomasson if he thinks ‘feck this’ (or Danish equivalent) and wants to call it himself, no chance his job will be under any threat.
  8. ‘It’s a project’. All managers say something on those lines. It’s JDT’s version of ‘it’s a journey’. It isn’t a defence/an explanation of anything in itself.
  9. Sunderland tickets just announced at £25-£30 (Category B), though the club themselves said in the summer that all midweeks will start at £20… ‘We know how special Ewood feels under the lights and our midweek matches on home soil, which include the visits of recently-relegated Watford and newly-promoted Sunderland, will be Category C contests, with Adult ticket prices starting at just £20.’ https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2022/july/12/save-with-an-1875-membership--/ Obviously there’s now a Return of the Mogg big potential away support to rinse!
  10. We had a so-so start, didn’t really get going until November, whereas Fulham flew out the traps, and despite our fantastic form in the second half of the season we never really looked like catching them.
  11. Looks a steady enough second tier squad man, though for me he just seems an odd player to really chase hard and pay a sizeable fee for.
  12. I think I speak for everyone in wanting you to open that particular thread…
  13. ‘Phelan, Phelan, Phelan!’
  14. ‘Tens of thousands of Burnley fans’ in a different borough? Thought Longers was trying to make out that their supporters all wandered to the ground from the terraced streets around t’Turf?
  15. Amazing photo, like a pic from an 1840s east end workhouse, not the late 1940s.
  16. He was 38 by the end of his time here, so of course he was in decline. But in his pomp, he was without doubt world class in certain games.
  17. Still be higher than Watford (they fetched 592), with it being a Saturday 3pm, no?
  18. Sacking the manager on the day of the game is novel, even for the Championship…
  19. Me neither, but 7k with £30 tickets? Think we know what Swag will be doing… unless an allocation is restricted due to a bubble/police advice.
  20. They won’t get 8k, as there will obviously be netted off areas. So 7k-ish as per PNE. Certainly does sound like no bubble…
  21. Ian Miller next to Patterson.
  22. In the early 90s we had a promising young winger called Jason Wilcox who quit the game due to the abuse he got from the Riverside.
  23. It is a dead rubber NL wise. So GS can’t hide behind an excuse like ‘I can’t try x, y or z because we need Nations League points’. If he wants to try something, try it. On the other hand if you think it’s too close to the tournament to experiment, fine, say that. But don’t come out with weak stuff like ‘well, we’d just get criticised if I try it’.
