I don’t boo, but if the lot of them get booed off, manager included, at full time after a stinker then fair enough. But of course you shouldn’t boo players in the middle of a game, what a ridiculously counter-productive thing to do.
-
Agree with that JH, however we need to remember that a lot of fans aren’t like us, they can take it or leave it, they simply want to watch a decent side, a bit of excitement, a potential promotion push every now and again etc. Spending a decade generally about 10th to 18th in the second division is not going to attract floating support, especially considering season ticket prices have pretty much doubled during that period.
-
Well it ‘gives us more flexibility for next season’, so all good then! Though selling fixed assets to get through the next 12 months seems a very precarious way to run a business
-
Like we all say, I don’t gauge Rovers fans from this place, nowhere near representative, but there are some excellent erudite posters… or on the flip side from Facebook groups and their homages to St Anthony of Yarm… but I would say your regular match goer is a fairly decent yardstick and middle ground.

And you’re not an idiot, but you obviously like to stir the pot. You know it is disputed that this ‘crying’ ever happened- that lad on the video is literally just parroting a rumour from Twitter - not exactly a reputed source, is it! And you certainly can’t besmirch a whole fanbase on the back of it. My opinion is that the fanbase has been largely, yes largely, not exclusively, because every fanbase has cretins, been excellent with him, always got behind him after years of poor performances (yes, grumbles, rolled eyes when he gave the ball away for the twentieth time in a match, but nothing more, and absolute delight when he finally broke his duck against Bolton) - and considering you always usually like to ‘take the positives’, it’s odd that you often do the opposite with the fans, a group of people that will still be here, long after BB, TM, Swag and all the rest have departed.
-
1) That ‘crying’ never happened, that lad on the video is literally parroting internet rumours. 2) Of course any clown abusing people is acting shamefully - but a tiny minority of fools does not reflect the fanbase as a whole, basic arithmetic, and it’s weird you always do this (but right on cue to arrive 24 hours later to re-take the thread off topic, a weird way to get your thrills, but yeah we are the odd ones 😘).
-
Yeah Ruth and Anne… amazing what you can pluck out the deep vaults of your memory!
-
I see that the completely unfounded hearsay that he was ‘booed off’ at Birmingham (just him?!) and was ‘crying’ has made it in that video. Never any need for rivals to do down Rovers fans, is there? 🙄
-
Don’t worry, in a few hours just as the thread has moved on to get back on topic, he’ll be back to double down on it…
-
Because now you are not demanding they sell the club ASAP, seems fairly clear cut really, 1864.
-
Well they aren’t the same views then, are they? As you used to post some mega rants on here telling them to sell up ASAP… fickle fans indeed.
-
So you still want the club sold?
-
That’s the thing with TM, remember this is a two way thing. If he decides to go at the end of the season (as I still think there’s every chance of a new deal offer), as he sees the writing on the wall budget wise, he has without doubt boosted his reputation after his stint here (you may think otherwise, but I certainly get that impression from those within the game) and he will definitely have chances of other decent jobs.

Go on AJ, went to school with her older sisters, they were regulars in our fantastic summer musical productions, so obviously runs in the family…
-
Bit like those that used to rant about the owners on a daily basis, but now go in to bat for them instead…
-
Not this again. Sense of shame for who? ‘An all time low’ for who? A tiny percentage of idiots? Considering just how poor he was, for a few YEARS, not weeks or months, he was given a lot of patience, yes grumbles, and yes there was a tiny minority of people being dickheads but that’s football, a £7million man wouldn’t have got such patience and understanding from the fanbase at many other clubs. The fanbase at large have been excellent with BBD, shows that actually we are a pretty fair bunch down at Ewood and it’s a shame you want to go down that line…

News From Other Leagues

Big crowd too, plenty of potential at Stockport… even in a town full of Citeh fans. -
What we selling next time?
-
It probably is fairly realistic to see this incarnation of Blackburn Rovers plodding about in the second division, but then it was pre L1 relegation too as the club was still a mess then (maybe an even bigger one), but there was still an anger and impatience around the place - Bowyer, Lambert, Coyle all getting plenty of heat for poor results. Now there is just a collective shrug. Of course it’s all due to a decade of chronic mismanagement grinding everybody down - so I’ll take any claims of ‘new dawns’ with a gigantic pinch of salt.
-
Yeah I’m sure the FA are happy enough, get to rotate, blood new players, promote U21s, the likes of Kane can improve his goal tally etc etc. But surely UEFA are the ones that need to look at the farcical amount of part time sides playing elite professional players in these groups… England had four matches against actual amateur teams! FOUR! Yet they are allowing more, Gibraltar being a recent inclusion. Of course, they should get to play international football, but there is surely some mechanism for it to be done via a pre-qualifying system and/or the Nations League and stop these ridiculous mismatches.
-
I’d say the vast majority of match going fans are now in group 1. Very rarely do you hear anything remotely anti Venky’s at Ewood and I’ve never known a manager as Teflon coated as TM, since perhaps, Mark Hughes and he was an actual top class manager. Just imagine the crowds reaction to a 7-0 home defeat under Sam or the late days of Souness or even as recently as Bowyer. For me that one season in L1 has lowered expectations markedly across the fanbase, now even sharing a division with the likes of West Brom is seen as success and plodding along like this year after year is fine, ‘what else do you expect?, ‘who else we gonna get?’, ‘Bury!’.
-
It doesn’t ‘even out’ though as qualifying groups were much tougher. Yes, an odd poor team back in Lineker’s day, but now half the group will be either part timers or very small nations.

White elephant grounds built by slave labour doing 20 hour shifts in 50 degree heat… all so North Macedonia or whoever can play Senegal in a November World Cup in front of about 500 people. The brass neck of the whole thing from the day Blatter saw the dollar signs…
