  1. Whatever Trev is doing over there it ain’t enough for promotion, so that’s fine by me!
  2. PNE are still winning a fair few games away, sort their home form out and they’ll be solid enough in mid table. Who will do better with that squad and wagebill than Neil?
  3. I’m looking at today and to say we have a squad ‘too good for the Championship’ seems massively over optimistic from what I’ve seen (but then you seem to be that way inclined these days Phil, so good luck to you)
  4. Plus Bjorjnebye, John Curtis, Mark Hughes, Keith Gillespie, Alan Mahon, Tiny Taylor, Damien Johnson.
  5. Their fans are delighted by the look of social media. ‘Fraud’ etc.
  6. It’s a good squad, certainly competitive, but is it ‘too good for the Championship’? 2001? Without doubt, this bunch? Not sure about that.
  7. ‘Friedel?! He’s shit, what’s wrong with Phe-lan!?’
  8. And he’s without a club at 28. I was using him as example of players not fulfilling their potential when lauded, though if Elliott gets the caps and cash that Wilshire has he’ll have done well - and due to a plethora of reasons we really can’t say that he’ll get close at 17.
  9. At what age shouldn’t you be bothered about playing?
  10. I was trying to find the video. Something like ‘I know he’s been out a long time, but you can’t leave a player like him out’.
  11. You disagree with Mowbray then, as he pretty much said that he would have one in his Sky interview on Saturday...
  12. Exactly. The actual talent is only part of what makes a top end career. Commitment, not letting the riches and hangers on turn your head, avoiding injury etc.
  13. We can’t possibly tell if he’s going to be a world star when he’s playing for us in the second division. He could well be a David Beckham-esque loanee or he could be a Jack Wilshire or Jermaine Pennant who were lauded as the next big thing in the game at 17.
  14. God love you Phil, but you aren’t half prone to hyperbole
  15. It was absolutely vital that this transfer worked out. £7million is an enormous amount of money for modern day Blackburn Rovers in an FFP environment. Has it worked out? Would we sell him in for a profit in January? Not yet and no. But there is undoubtedly a vast improvement and he is now contributing on a regular basis, so long may it continue.
  16. Both the BBC and The Times are calling them ‘Chorley Town’
  17. Great day for Chorley, but Christ Wigan keep hitting new lows., At the start of July they were the form team in the Championship. Now bottom 3 in League 1, a whole team sold and beaten at home by a club bottom of National North.
  18. Good Rovers man is Neil Yardley, and I think a decent commentator, but the website writer adds nothing and often drags Neil down to his level. So unless they get a player in an odd time to co-commentate, like they have with Armstrong or Dack, let Neil just do it on his own.
  19. From Cole’s autobiography being serialised in the Sunday Times. SWag by name, SWag by nature, it seems...
  20. I remember getting to the team news with 1 page on a match thread in a lot of late Bowyer/Lambert/Coyle era games.
  21. Amazes me that people still think this club works like others.
  22. That’s fine K-Hod, but it needs to be enforced swiftly as one person can completely de-rail a match day thread, which is terrible for the board and can only drive folk away from bothering with this place at all.
  23. Sky can only show 8 midweek rounds on the red button per their contract. “ ‘cos COVID “ there are 14 midweek rounds this season, so some weeks will be no red button.
  24. People seem to think he’s been terrible ever since leaving us. Been more mixed than that. He was at Stoke for five years and they were comfortable enough in the PL for the most part.
  25. I’ve no idea on that score and neither has anyone else re intentions, financial motivations etc. However, on the field I personally felt time was catching up with him before he left, that’s football, it can very quickly move on from you, IMO, of course.
