  1. The with teams still dropping plenty of points, even a couple of draws would’ve been ok with Cardiff to play on Tuesday. Makes those pathetic capitulations even worse... though exactly why we won’t do it.
  2. Been settled a long time down south too, you can tell that with his softening Blackburn vowels! (Though I think he was a QEGS lad, so that might explain it ) Hang on, just found this... ‘It has been a really difficult decision to finish playing football. It was all I ever wanted to do since I was at St Augustine’s School in Billington, and playing on Pleckgate playing fields.’ Pleckgate? My owd stomping ground, no excuse then!
  3. Like Leeds are even close to an Arsenal or an Everton. (Or another at least half dozen clubs) Obviously in Wakefield ‘Spoons at 6am old Waccoe.
  4. Amazing that for such a supposed ‘massive club’ (so massive that they struggled to keep crowds over 20,000 before Bielsa, and that was as the only club in one of the UK’s biggest cities, by the way) they have to keep telling all us fans of inferior clubs how massive they are...
  5. I can see it now - ‘Got a promotion under his belt, get behind ‘im FFS!’
  6. You wouldn’t have dared to say that if we weren’t behind closed doors. CP would be chinning you on the Aldi car park...
  7. Of course the great contrarian would even use a different term for the game itself
  8. Fun fact... the National Lottery was launched that day, the Darwen Blues 007 bus stopped on the way back from Ipswich for tickets!
  9. You must have walked in the wrong direction as there’s Blues Bar in the Blackburn End, The Fernhurst right outside the Darwen End, Ewood WMC outside the Jack Walker stand, and about 6 on Livesey Branch Road (the hill going away from the ground).
  10. I think he worked out fairly quickly he wouldn’t be stopping. Never moved out of his hotel (Stanley House) for a start...
  11. To be fair, a lot of fans (me included) saw the arrival of Lambert as a sign of a club behaving professionally again. He was appointed quickly with a highly regarded coach like Irvine alongside. He did still have a decent reputation at the time and it looked like a fresh start after years of highly dubious appointments, a revolving door and then a promotion within of Bowyer and his staff done on the cheap. It didn’t work out, and neither did the ‘new dawn’ last with Coyle next to rock up.
  12. Does it begin with a ‘H’? That company always seems to drive the football hipsters wild on Twitter...
  13. You Speaker of the House now?
  14. The touchline/dugout area is all a bit panto, but something that I have spotted is that pretty much all our managers have looked subdued in the Venky era. Compare it to the days of Big Sam in which he spent most of the game cajoling and barking out instructions... indeed just look to the opposition technical area most weeks and notice the contrast.
  15. How much was Chris Wilder on?
  16. Who’s brainwashed? Nothing frustrates me more that we didn’t build on the mid 90s. It doesn’t change where the club is now and the completely different demographics of our area and the much increased competition in the region in 2020 compared to the 1990s.
  17. Thought Mowbray always told potential incoming players that nobody is signed to be first choice here?
  18. We did expand it. Venky’s have contracted it. You may have noticed it...
  19. Blackburn is one of the smallest towns with one of the smallest catchment areas in the top two divisions, those the facts Vinners. The club did so much work to make light of that fact, but alas a decade of neglect has thrown away that hard graft.
  20. ‘Big club in a small town‘, if you don’t mind, Gavla
  21. The EFL ‘rules’ seem to be more flexible than most, however...
  22. To double down on that, of the first choice 40% left - Lenihan and Nyambe, they came through the academy ranks.
  23. Well just be thankful Corporal Vinners wasn’t in charge of the club back then!
  24. One was quality, one got injured almost immediately, one is *at best* on a par with who we sold... all 3 will be gone in a few weeks. Big risk having 60% of your defensive unit as loanees.
  25. No married men either, though, I remember you saying? They lose their edge too! (Can anybody in parochial towns be edgy, anyway? ?). ‘Roll up, roll up! Birth and marriage certificates in hand please or no entry!’
