In what’s been a pretty horrible decade, something to be proud of... https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18736452.duff-holds-off-dolan-rovers-academy-reaches-500-milestone/

‘Best midfield in the league’, don’t ya know!

Rovers vs. Wycombe - 19th Sept, 3pm

Oh I see. I presumed you were talking about the bit you had bolded, when you said ‘that statement’ was proof of his football cluelessness. -
Rovers vs. Wycombe - 19th Sept, 3pm
Mattyblue replied to J*B's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The bit in bold is just blatantly obvious, of course he’s been left behind on the pitch, so no idea how that paints ‘99 as clueless. The fact he obviously plays a role off the field and looks a very popular club captain is a totally different issue, and probably why he will be here until his contract runs out in 9 months time, and I’ve no particularly issue with that, lot of cogs to running a successful sports team. -
Come on, he’s not fit to lace *check name* Tom Barkhuizen’s boots!
-
‘His working relationship with Mowbray’, behave yourself Club comes in who can offer PL football and double/treble the wages, he’s off. That’s no slight on Rovers or Mowbray, just the way it is.

About 9th more like

Blackburn Rovers is therefore owned, ran and administered by a selection of people that have zero knowledge (or seeming interest to learn) of the demographics of Blackburn and it’s environs, and the price points that will push customers away - little wonder then that we will see our ST base further collapse this summer. This need to ‘increase revenue’ is actually producing policies that will do the exact opposite due to their own ignorance.
-
There’s a lot the club is doing perfectly fine with considering the oil tanker pace of decision making. Decent transfer business, TM has never had to sell a player against his will, investment in data tech at the training ground, an academy doing well. My issue is the everyday running of the club, from ground maintenance to ticket pricing. Our £300,000 a year Chief Executive is not in charge of these decisions? It is an Indian emissary of the Rao’s making the decisions on day to day business operations?
-
He doesn’t understand it, so that’s compounding the problem. (but everything sounds hunky dory down there, so it’s reight)
-
We really are the most dysfunctional of organisations. Some corporate set-up, this. Yet, we see senior staff member after staff member defend it and those that put it in place. They must get some serious remuneration.
-
Fun? I garner no pleasure from it. So the horrendous decision making we’ve seen off the field this past 3 years, culminating in this week’s ST pricing, match day pricing etc etc that will see a further collapse in an already decimated fanbase are Suhail/the owners ideas? And Waggott was lying when he said he made the decisions?

Well of course they put in far more money than individual fans in absolute terms, they are the club’s billionaire owners. Though ‘commitment’ is obviously relative and they’ve overseen a decline to which the club is now a shadow of what it was when they bought it. Not the point you were making last night though, was it. But at least you’ve now backed away from that very poor post.
-
So Venky’s aren’t ‘far more committed’ than ‘most of our fans’, fans with decades of support?
-
You are questioning the commitment of others because they have an issue with their ST going up £50/£80 in one summer and for a product that won’t be close to normal at that - yet due to trains, night matches and the like being inconvenient for you, you may not buy one. Hopefully you can now see just how ridiculous your comment was last night.
-
Hang on, so if your issue is cost, be damned and ‘the owners are more committed than fans’, yet you yourself won’t go because of trains and the like? Some brass neck.
-
The stadium Jack built after this fella leaves could well see a closed Blackburn End Upper, Riverside, Darwen End, Blues Bar and radio station, with a vast reduction in crowds. And he was brought in to increase revenue?
-
Understandable if you didn’t rate him. I didn’t understand it then, and I certainly don’t understand it now.
-
Not a sniff that he was unhappy until the back end of the season when he was suddenly dropped... then bundled out by Mowbray as he wanted quick cash to put towards the £5million for SG.
-
Possibly, but it hasn’t stopped big valuations on Armstrong or (pre injury) Dack.
-
This guy has been an untold disaster. Yet, had a decent CV as a football administrator. The issue has been his arrogance and refusal to understand the fanbase and demographics of this area.
-
Let’s just hope arbito’s rumour turns out correct and he fecks off at the end of the season. Good luck to whoever replaces him. The board introduction of ‘you’ve got 8,000 fans’ will have to be significantly scaled down...
-
‘We all thought he was poor’ ‘everyone was happy for him to go’ is justification for their own poor judgement of a player.
-
He shouldn’t have been sold to start with, £10 million in 2020 or £3 million in 2019, so the rest of your post is moot.
