  1. Pretty much every other club has had them on sale for months. With thousands sold and millions in the bank for those clubs at a time when cash flow is vital. Our cash flow on the other hand will be pretty much zero. Who has the right approach Chaddy? Rovers, who have to get everything signed off late in the summer in an annual meeting halfway across the world, or pretty much every other Championship club who have proactively engaged their supporters and got them and their cash signed up early?
  2. Get out if it! There’s loads of Man Utd/Liverpool fans in Wigan, which you’ll know all too well living there, which is unsurprising as they were a non league club until the 80s and are unfortunately in the same boat as the other clubs in ‘Greater Manchester’. But ok Joe, I’ll leave it there and agree with you.
  3. Let’s see what happens with this ‘European scouting network’, two years they’ve been banging on about it and we must still have the most British and Irish squad in the league...
  4. There’s loads of football interest in Wigan... it’s just a load of them support Liverpool and Man Utd.
  5. Got to say, I can’t say I see what Mercer sees, I can’t particularly feel much of a groundswell for him to go. The best thing to happen for the club, in terms of scrutiny, was that relegation, we are now a club ‘that was in League 1 not long ago’, so plodding along in Championship mid table with a nice fella like Mowbray and owners ‘who put more money in than Jack’ is fine for evermore with most fans I come across out there. Try and say you expect the club to strive for better and you are usually shot down as we are ‘a small club’. Thank you Venky’s, from the most successful town club in the country, the archetypal ‘big club in a small town’, to being grateful to those fools in Pune for not playing Fleetwood each year...
  6. Vast majority of clubs in the Championship have had their STs on sale for months and have sold thousands already. This, of course, aides their cash flow and keeps fans in the tent, who could otherwise have gotten out of the habit if fans spend 6/9 months plus out of grounds... as always, compare and contrast with Blackburn Rovers.
  7. Come on then Masher, what’s YOUR view for how this club moves forward, as you poo pooh every possible suggestion be it manager or owner.
  8. Not on here, but plenty in ‘real life’, that’s east Lancs, not Surrey.
  9. Raya dropped an odd, but yeah, a usually big howler. Walton is letting a soft goal in every other game. Plus, Raya was a young keeper full of potential learning his trade, and he was OURS. So I was comfortable with the odd clanger. Instead we’ve sold him for a pittance, he’ll be sold for at least treble what we got when Brentford cash in. And we get lumbered with a bang average stopper who costs us a load of points and then buggers off in a few weeks, leaving us with no first team keeper (assuming Leuts goes too) at all. Piss poor planning for such a vital position, but we can at least be grateful that his fee paid for half of Sam Gallagher.
  10. Ha! ‘The wider football world’, do me a favour! Nobody in football does a bad job, the pundits on Sky and his fellow managers will have been lauding Lee Johnson for the ‘great job he’s done’... until they’re sacked, then it’s ‘yeah it was probably time to freshen it up there’. Jobs for the boys.
  11. what’s Mowbray’s style of play?
  12. Why is having so much possession a good thing?
  13. Everyone should stop taking him on. His WUM mask has slipped (it was hanging off already) with the constant ‘soccer’ posts. He’s now playing contrarian with every single post and suggestion - and his posts are getting sillier, must be tired, not as subtle. He’s an odd individual, but must be getting his kicks out it, but he’s making threads unreadable. *Mods* - I’m all for debate and differing views but it’s getting daft.
  14. He knows if winds some folk up, so obviously...
  15. So? You asked for a precedent, just given you one.
  16. Neil Warnock said he’d retired earlier this year...
  17. That sentence makes no sense. MashBot.
  18. 8 pages of pointless back and forth. ‘He should go’ ‘he should stay’. ‘He’d be good’ ‘he’s no better’ ‘wouldn’t come’ and on and on. (I’ve posted too much on this thread myself). Why bother wasting the energy? He’s one of the most powerful people in the club. His ‘boss’ doesn’t make decisions on managers. He has obviously ingratiated himself with the owners in their yearly get together, owners that are completely disconnected from the club, so as long as we plod along he won’t be going anywhere. Completely unhealthy way to run a football club, as proven each season with the one and only (and late) meeting a year to sign off everything from transfers to season tickets, a meeting that always has us behind the curve, but it’s been a decade now and it ain’t going to change. We’ve just got to hope against hope that a manager, who to me, has got to that stale stage where the players are just no longer listening, stumbles across a winning formula as there won’t be anyone else coming through the door.
  19. Behave! You’ve can’t have spent much time in football grounds or indeed with other fans generally if you thing supporters don’t also vent - they do because they care! (Though you probably know that all too well and you are just performing your usual trolling routine)
  20. A fair chunk of those 54 starts will have been as an 18 year old at Forest. He’s been here for nearly two years to make up the rest of those appearances (usually off the bench). Been a real decline. Is it the move? The fee? The lad himself? Mowbray? Or a combination of them all? Whatever, it’s been a waste of two years...
  21. Competed until they went 3-1, heads dropped and we couldn’t get near them after that, would be my view.
  22. Who’s buying our players with world recession happening due to the virus?
  23. You can look at it both ways. Apart from a yearly meeting, managers here are given pretty much free reign (which is no longer the norm in modern football, with recruitment teams/DofF etc) and generally get their feet under the table for a sustained tenure, if they bow and scrape in that annual get together....
