  1. Don’t understand it? Because the modern game is a cesspit, perhaps that doesn’t come across on a glossy PL match day on NBC Soccer Channel or whatever. Rovers come first on here, it’s full of club fanatics, so obviously we look at stuff through a blue and white lens, a different view from others you speak to. You’ve said before that you aren’t that arsed about Rovers, that you prefer watching England games and the Premier League. Fair enough, as I imagine it’s difficult picking up our games out there without ifollow, but nobody should apologise for putting a Rovers and EFL spin on things.
  2. Oh there are plenty Stuart, however normally they are social media obsessed PL ‘fans’ that couldn’t find a football ground if you plonked them on Anfield Road, not ST holders that should actually appreciate what a club represents, and who should cherish it, but there you go.
  3. You don’t, other people obviously do think it impacts the spectacle and therefore their enjoyment of a match. So, cancelling a not cheap monthly package then makes perfect sense, no?
  4. Makes perfect common sense that Darren... so Wembley it’ll be.
  5. Rugby League re-started in Australia today. Believe Premiership Rugby Union in England plan to finish the season. No word on when they go back to training though...
  6. The 1960 cup final ticket debacle took decades to get over. We have never recovered from the Kean nightmare. As JH says, we could be staring down the barrel of mass non renewals. Only anecdotal, but the mood music on renewals I’m picking up from long standing fans worries me...
  7. He’ll have been spreading the virus very efficiently then!
  8. How many did he play at Ewood? Missed a fair few games with injury, from what I remember...
  9. Much more of a suited name for ?
  10. I didn’t say the clubs were after ‘lining their pockets’, it is about survival, crazy really considering just much cash they’ve had every year, but when you see bang average footballers driving Bentley’s and living in mansions, it doesn’t take a genius to see why the club’s are in such a mess. It is the disingenuous utterances coming out of the authorities about ‘fairness’ and ‘integrity’ that riles, it’s about the money, pure and simple (otherwise they’d have followed the approach of League 2), and that’s fine, because the alternative isn’t worth thinking about, but don’t insult fans’ intelligence.
  11. Fair play to you ‘99, indefatigable.
  12. It has. But the football authorities continue to bang on about ‘sporting integrity’ It’s a load of bollocks, any chance of that has long gone whatever method they use. The top two divisions will re-start to ensure the cash keeps rolling in - which is a perfectly legitimate reason to get back on the pitch, considering what could happen to clubs if we don’t - but just stop with the pretence it’s for any other reason than cold hard cash.
  13. I get why they feel they need to use that points per game method, but it massively against the spirit of a football league season. Club’s can charge towards promotion, play offs, relegation late in a season or vice versa can collapse in form. Yet, competing the season on the pitch in empty grounds also impacts this famous ‘sporting integrity’ as they are conditions different to what went before - I.e. the Bundesliga is showing that home advantage is now diminished etc. Either way is inherently unfair to me, but we are where we are.
  14. Great! Let’s hope you keep to it.
  15. Jack added a good point about Mowbray that expanded the debate from yesterday. Myself and Vinners then added our view, was ever thus on here that we will digress from a thread title (especially in a lockdown). No idea what your problem is, but you really need to stop being so thin skinned and roll with the punches, something you’ve struggled to do since you joined.
  16. Mowbray has been the most staunchly supported manager we’ve had for a long time. Rarely been a murmur against him in 3 years at Ewood, and we’ve seen some horrendous runs of form. He’d have been hounded at many other Championship clubs. Ewood Park as a place that is ’Very fickle’, a ‘tough environment’ that ‘quickly turns’ is just not true in the slightest.
  17. It was never going to last for ever, we weren’t a big enough club to compete with Oil money. But there was nothing stopping us being at the top for the rest of the 90s. It was 1995, not 2005. The likes of Zidane, Dugarry et al were available for prices (or less) than what we were spending on shite like Dailly, Davies and Ward 3/4 years later. So of course it was viable in the 90s, especially as pretty much every big signing we made between 1992 and 1994 was sold on for a profit.
  18. Bloody hell. I posted it to promote a bit of light hearted chat in this endless down period. I don’t give a shiny shite if they do a Jack Straw style stump speech from outside Marks & Spencer every other Saturday or we don’t hear from them ever again as long as they pay the bills. I’ve long stopped having any interest in them as owners or people, no idea why they are still here or what they get out of all this, but here we are. Just made me laugh that a certain poster now enjoys being the contrarian so much these days (whilst playing the ‘who, me?’ routine), he’ll come out with outlandish stuff like ‘most owners’ are just like Venky’s, which is plainly nonsense posted for a reaction.
  19. So ‘most owners’ aren’t totally silent for years on end like ours then?
  20. Well that’s just not true, is it? A decade of near total silence is not how ‘most owners’ converse with the press/their supporters.
  21. I’m talking generally, as the post suggests.
  22. Serious question, are there any other clubs in the Championship with owners as silent as ours? Thinking about, it Trev down the road only ever seems to talk about horses, any others?
  23. Do I? I’m just posting my views, folk are free to do with my posts what they wish, they can agree, disagree, tell me to f*ck off. So on the flip side, I’m free to do what I want with theirs, I.e post a rebuttal. Forum 101 really. Anyway sorry everybody, that’s enough of a diversion for one day.
  24. I don’t have to blow smoke up your arse with bits of a post I agree with (which the general point about BB’s struggles, I did), but I will challenge you on parts I vehemently disagree with. If you think that’s ‘telling’, then fair enough, but I just say it as I see it.
  25. Pretty much every lad I know in his teens/ Early 20s has stopped bothering with it (if they ever did).
