  1. Ok if you think the NHS and elderly will be rolling up in 3 months etc... (And even if those groups did receive them by some miracle in a few months time, the likes of me and you would be way off receiving one, so that would still mean many, many months/a year + of behind closed doors football)
  2. I don’t doubt their best endeavours, God speed to them. However I like to look at past examples. Vaccines are renowned for failing at clinical trial. Now obviously usually they don’t have anywhere near this amount of finance and scientific manpower behind them, but it is still extremely difficult to pull off in this timeframe, despite the positivity. If you seriously think we‘ll all be rocking up at our GP’s in just over 3 months with our sleeves rolled up just because a scientist at Oxford is making progress in his lab, then you are going to be very disappointed.
  3. Not a chance there will be a vaccine ready for use in September. (Feel free to find and quote this post later as I’d like nothing more than to be wrong).
  4. In a team full of leaders, I always found it interesting that it was Sherwood that ended up captain.
  5. That might say more about PNE and the players/standards they have...
  6. I had to check, 2002 that came out. Had a little panic there as I remember watching it, was sure it wasn’t 30 years ago!
  7. Happy Title Day everybody. Good piece on The Guardian... https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/may/14/blackburn-rovers-won-premier-league-title-liverpool-manchester-united-25th-anniversary
  8. I was just adding my view of what makes a Derby, with this being a message board and all...
  9. What does a derby really mean to a set of players who will largely have no connection to the local area? It is the intensity of the crowd that makes a derby special.
  10. Aren’t you confusing him with the mighty Patrick Valery?
  11. PL clubs have been told they need to repay £340million to broadcasters even if they finish the season behind closed doors. At Monday’s meeting "a curtailment of the season was discussed for the first time.“ Bet it was! https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52579299
  12. Oh I agree, just void it now and try and salvage as much as next season as possible. However, the FA are trying to flex their political muscles in this tawdry spectacle and are referring to the 1991 articles of association that guarantees promotion and relegation - though I doubt there was a pandemic asterisk in said document...
  13. Some old school brfcs-ers on there
  14. Clark at the FA is not demanding football to be played, just relegation and promotion to be enforced - i.e you can cancel the season on an average points basis.
  15. One way to stop the pathetic grappling on corners, I suppose...
  16. So will football be the only profession where the employees don't have to abide by social distancing?
  17. The Wilpshire one goes down in Rovers folklore, I still use it whenever we are linked with a decent player
  18. ‘Whalley’ (n, vb) Favoured training technique of Owen Coyle.
  19. Not sure I agree that Stewart Donald never stood a chance with their fans, he came across as quite a personable West Country type and the fans seems desperate for it to work out. Methven on the other hand... The main issue they have with them is they have no brass (and never did), they planned it as a stabilise then flip for a quick and tidy profit job. Alas, the madcap world of English football never quite works out that nicely.
  20. The fact so many long standing football fans are saying just that should make the PL and the wider game very worried.
  21. Classic rare Rolo intervention, he lurks and then strikes with a post bang on the money.
  22. Of course. There’s always a food chain, we saw that even in the PL days. But the day I start speculating on whether our players will get a ‘deserved big move’ to the likes of Watford or Brighton is the day I knock it on the head.
  23. I get the ‘need’ to get football back for ‘sporting integrity’ reasons, a definitive answer to promotion/relegation/CL places etc. But is anyone (Chaddy aside) actually missing watching the Premier League?
