  1. On the drummer though, the commentator had it one, tuneless and out of time banging on a drum does not help the atmosphere, but just makes us look like lower league nomarks.
  2. To me there can only be one. PHIL THOMPSON. He’s the most arrogant, condescending, big club biased, one eyed plonker on television, radio or press. The ribbing he was getting on Soccer Saturday as Havant & Waterlooville went 1-0 and 2-1 was up was priceless.
  3. I got about 10 txts in about 5 mons from Rovers and non Rovers fans! Innocent mistake, I think not! Ive said it before and I'll say it again, a small town club in the 'greatest sports competition' in the world is a massive irritation to the powers that be.
  4. I like AESF posts normally but there seems to be a contradiction, you complained that last year Zara Philips won only because of her Royal connections- as 'old Britain' and non-liberal media as you can get. Yet now you say Hamilton would have only won because of his 'new Britian' and liberal media popularity? Which one is it?
  5. top stuff whittle blue. Just a reminder if anyone thought Rovers fan or not that Garns was just some run of the mill lower league player, well now you know better!
  6. Yeah I think Juve arent massively supported in Turin but across Italy, yet it seems that the Sardinia Branch of their supporters club etc dont bother with the day trips like the Torquay Branch of the Manure fan club. Also their fans have never taken to the Stadio Deli Alpi (sp!) as its a crap ground on the edge of the city
  7. My dad made a compilation tape of all Rovers Tv appearences from the City 4-0 in 1989 to the Liverpool cup game of 91. The Palace play off first leg still makes me go for f*** sake Howard put the penalty away!!! Garner at full time being interviewed with no teeth, 'its only half time, weve got to finish the job down there' then cuts to Rovers fans queing for tickets. Im sure I used to cry when I watched it as a kid! Talking of followings, that very tape showed I think an Ian Miller penalty from 1989/90 season away at Stoke, looked a massive following. Still I wouldnt swap what we had then for wht we have now, nostalgia is just that
  8. Im happy with the increase in attendance, 3 thousand up in one summer, did we honestly expect an extra 6/7 thousand etc? Ive said it before, we have a small population to garner our fans from, our attendances are superb, doesnt mean much in a league of big cities though. However what worries me that in our core areas of Blackburn and Darwen, I feel the Rovers are becoming less pivotal to the residents. We have an Asian population who love football, but Arsenal, Man U etc. The same can be said for the young white population, walk around Blackburn and Darwen town centres on a Saturday afternoon, non rovers shirts are seriously outnumbered, if we lose our core areas the club is in terminal decline
  9. Just getting into the Boss himself Bruce Springsteen, didnt think id enjoy the Joe Americaness of it all but what can I say, cant listen to dancing in the dark though without thinking of Courtney Cox dancing like a grandma at a wedding!
  10. We talking about Hitler or Campbell?
  11. Just got the Dave Clarke World Service Series, absolutey superb collection of Techno and Electro. Also if you are into your Trance, get the Trance Energy 2007 CD, likes of Marcel Woods, Cosmic Gate etc- top notch! If you are into your Hard Trance, get the Tidy Resonate series, especially 1 to 4. Class. Going Ibiza for the summer on 21st May, back just in time for Tidy Weekender 12! havent been yet but looks pretty messy!
  12. The whole article was a direct copy from the Rovers programme on Saturday. Another BBC exclusive!
  13. Agreed Paul, what exactly can the club do a day before the game? The club would have done their upmost if their was enough time, talk about the modern football fan being spoilt.
  14. I can not believe the bleating I am reading, in 15 years we have had THREE games called off at Ewood, this being the first one due to the cold, it happens, its part of being a football fan, the analagy of the fridge failing at Tesco sums up precisely the problem we have got at Blackburn Rovers, we are not a conveyer belt business where all products are always at maximum efficency, things go wrong you get over it. Those who have made a long journey I feel for you but its not exactly a regular occurence. Get behind the club and any floating fans get back for the rematch.
  15. Great performance from a side that are on the verge of something big. There will be blips (Fulham away etc) as we are building but Hughes has installed a spine through the side that is very hard to get the better of. Frightening levels of fitness and power, increased technical ability and in Friedel, Nelsen, Tugay and Bellamy, 4 players who would walk into nearly every Premiership side. MH has done an amazing job in just 14 months, the dark days are now a fading memory.
  16. Are you lot mad? Little Accy Stanley etc. The North West and our part of it in particular is overflowing with league clubs, Rovers need another league club 5 miles away like a hole in the head. If Accy come up and attract another 1k on the gate that is a potential Rovers fanbase gone, our clubs future is on the line and excuse me for my Scrooge mentality but the days when every town in Lancashire could have a league club and get good attendances are long gone-concentrate on the ROVERS, we need your support!
  17. Tough it was a Carling Cup 4th round game, as that 3rd goal went in I lost it more than I have done for a long time, as did Stuwiliky as he came bounding down 4 rows of seats to me! We were out of the game completely at 2-0 until a Hughes masterstroke with the subs came along. Brilliant comeback and a brilliant atmosphere. Just brilliant.
  18. I do not accept that one bit. Wigan's gates have jumped from around 7thousand home fans a game last season to around 16 thousand in one summer. Wigan are at their all time peak and still can't attract more home fans than Rovers. It is not sustainable. Rovers have had over 15thousand home fans for nearly 15 years.
  19. By the way Jim I this myth about Burnley's gates being so impressive in the 60s and 70s has now been blown away by a new segment in the Times on Monday's that picks a top division Saturday from yesteryear, showing scores and gates. Every home gate of Burnley's in that period has been sub 20k. Cup games maybe but not on a regular basis.
  20. I'm now glad we did'nt get more tickets. Bad enough that 1700 of us had to watch it!
  21. I cannot state enough that BRISA is working extremely harmoniously considering how much we are trying to get through and the varying opinions being expressed. People have to get to grips with the fact that this is an INTERIM period, I feel it would be unwise to set up an elected committee at this stage because nobody really has an idea of how much work is involved (if I sound like a Soviet dictator promising free and fair elections at some distant point, I apologise!). I would all hope that we all want BRISA to to be a success, so instead of petty squabbles and political point scoring why don't we all have a bit of patience and get behind the project at this challenging but also very exciting time.
  22. My view on PES5 is mixed. Plus point is it is now easier to score long shots, but I just find it too slow, I played PES4 straight after and it is blinding fast in comparison.
  23. We criticise them when they don't perfom, quite rightly after some debacles. But when they play like that there is no other team like England, the pace and passion was superb. Truely great football match. Bring on the World Cup. ps what a site the England fans were as the 3rd crashed in. What a moment!
  24. I don't agree with that. The Riverside hasnt been 'virtually full' all season, percentage wise I would say the JW lower (the bit that would be visible on the TV) is more full.
  25. I did'nt get a ticket, I havent missed a game in 3 years. 3 hours too late. Talking to JW At the Ewood Blues meeting, sales were very slow before the Charlton game and we sold 1000 on monday! In a way I'm bitterly dissapointed but I'm also bloody delighted fans are clambouring for tickets again. I will be there one way or another!
