  1. Leeds have a vast floating support from Hull to Skipton, North Yorkshire to Barnsley, and they are one club from a massive city, so a bit of success on the pitch and they flock to Elland Road. But as tomphil says they soon disappear.
  2. Made me laugh when Sky briefly had that 3D channel: ‘For the first time you can watch your team in 3D!’.
  3. It’s so many home games being on TV that is the worry.
  4. Idiot Walker family part 67 - In The Times this morning, Watford owner turns down £125 million for 36% stake - that values the club at £350 million. That’s Watford, average Premier League crowd of 20,000.
  5. I’m not, didn’t like the look of the train prices, so I’ll be watching the red button! Makes me sound like a right hypocrite - I’ll be doing it for Swansea too, the rub being though if this service wasn’t offered then I wouldn’t be asking for it. But sorry, wrong thread!
  6. I follow/red button is great for overseas or long distances away UK Rovers fans. However of course Ossydave is right, it does nothing for attendances as locals will now be able to watch getting towards half of our home games on Sky, assuming PNE and Leeds are also red button, along with all night matches, Villa already scheduled, plus others probably as the season goes on. The ‘EFL’ is not the Premier League, it cannot, in my opinion, withstand saturated TV coverage and maintain crowds. I suppose the proof of that will be in the coming seasons as this beds in.
  7. Err £15million, if you don’t mind,
  8. I know where JH is coming from. We put together a quality Championship squad before and the owners sold the lot and as the final straw appointed Owen Coyle. However, this time does feel different, the club seems to be professionally run for the first time since John Williams, they seem to have a plan from Mowbray up to the chief executive. Maybe it was because of those auditors or Waggott and Mowbray have got them bought in to this model of signing young English talent. It all feels quite strange after a near decade of turmoil, but long may this continue, if it does who knows where it could lead...
  9. 5 games and I saw them all, looked exactly what he is, a lower league journeyman. Plus, his ‘languid’ style would not fit the present side one bit. Like Sam Hart, he won’t ever make it at this level, you don’t need to see them play dozens of matches to get to that conclusion. The club is moving on apace and the likes of Gladwin are being left behind, shame for them but that’s football.
  10. Really glad they shut the window early, much less stressful...
  11. He’s not good enough mick, simple as that.
  12. Great Lancs win by 4 wickets! Thought it was curtains at 178/6...
  13. It is, as I’ve put in the match thread, it’s looking like if it isn’t 3pm on a Saturday it’ll be on Sky.
  14. Just Gladwin to go...
  15. Balancing act though, because he could knock thousands off the travelling support...
  16. So all non 3pm Saturday games are on Sky then? If that’s the case, so will Leeds and PNE at home, as they are 12pm KO’s. Not sure Waggott thought about that when agreeing to the early KOs...
  17. The worry is always wages, you can imagine Dack’s agent getting a whiff of what they’d be offering, and as a parachute payment receiving club, you’d imagine it would be way above his current package...
  18. BBC local news just then ’The funeral of Blackburn legend Jimmy McIlroy takes place today’ ?‍♂️
  19. £30 million doesn’t get you much these days - two players from the Championship and I presume a reserve goalkeeper when the other keepers are fit. I’d say you stood still this summer - as we well know that ensures you fall down the table fairly rapidly in the Premier League.
  20. Do they particularly care about relegation? If they come down, they’ll pocket the dough, ensure they have a top side for the Championship, rinse and repeat. Not an exact science, obviously, but I can’t imagine them coming down in the disarray some clubs do.
  21. Will it not be on Rovers’ ifollow in the UK as it isn’t a Saturday 3pm or on Sky?
  22. Ha nearly posted it myself! Plus, even with their best season in decades and European qualification, his pal wears a Euro tshirt with an anti -Rovers song title on it!
  23. Main problem with Preston fans is since ‘city status’ they have got this impression that they are a sleeping giant.
