  1. Kuqi puts himself about a lot more ....and with more effectiveness from what I've seen so far .
  2. Good stuff , but wasted on Rover The Moon....... you should have saved that for Eddie
  3. That's easy . Just don't open the ticket office before the Spurs game
  4. Other clubs can maybe afford that luxury ....and if we are in the business of selling tickets then the needs of the customer should always come first . Therefore the ticket office should always be open on a Saturday if we have a game on the Sunday . Why you are defending the club on this issue is beyond belief ...
  5. The lack of someone with the belief and guts to run at the opposition is sadly lacking in our team at the moment . Reid could be that man but he has to take the responsibility - hopefully he'll regain his sharpness . The off the ball movement is poor to say the least - on one occasion yesterday , Bentley (I think ) beat his man twice and held the ball up but wasn't given a single option to make a pass . He should have two or three options . On another occasion Pederson laid off a lovely ball to a man going forward and then simply stood still and admired his pass instead of overlapping and threatening Chelsea's defence. This bloke nedds to be put on the bench . Apart from Savage - who runs himself into the ground closing the oppo down ( that's his job) - our midfield is slow and ponderous and all too predictable . Add that to the two forwards who offered virtually nothing in the means of stretching the defence and we have a worrying picture . Hopefully Tugay can buck us up a bit and provide some fluency to our game . I came off yesterday with the feeling that this was a game we should have won - if we'd have shown them less respect and really gone for the throat . Chelsea were less threatening than Everton . One more bad display against Sheffield won't be so easy to shrug off . Motivation and self belief seems to be our main problem at the moment .
  6. If someone had gone down to the ground expecting to buy tickets at 4pm and been met with a closed ticket office they're more likely to shrug their shoulders and watch the game in the pub .... (I'm reliably informed that the potential fans at the ticket office were Asian - they probably didn't even watch it in the pub - but you get my drift...)
  7. Exactly . Can you imagine Tesco or ASDA closing early on a Saturday ? Who makes these daft decisions ? Obviously a part timer - we don't need fans like that
  8. Only ever heard the word used by people who have lived centrally . Didn't know it had reached the posh parts
  9. Don't blame you at all for that . BUT....if you knew that for that £36 you could take a couple of kids with you (if you have kids that is) for nowt you might be inclined to go . Result , 3 more seats filled and potentially 2 new fans committed to the cause . The only way forward IMO . Certainly beats the Fckuk U then attitude that The Drog is taking ....
  10. "Agate" is a truly local expression which I'm surprised has reached Ossy ; hard to put a definition on it but generally means "...he/she was saying or doing something " ; ie ..he was agate (this or that)
  11. I have on a couple of occasions . Once in the JW stand a single Rover stood up to 4 or so opposition fans who were mouthing off . They soon shut up - an incredible sight Another time quite a few seasons ago a mate of mine returned from the bar to find a Man U fan in his seat in the Darwen End . He was soon invited to leave .....and from a safe distance he turned and gave the V sign and some verbals - whereupon a complete stranger smacked him on the nose . A copper watched the whole incident and when the bloodstained Manc complained to him Plod simply shrugged his shoulders and ignored him.....How we laughed
  12. But the average "walk on" punter - especially the kids - will not want to watch the games against Wigan and Charlton when they've been priced out of the games against the UTD's and Chelsea's of this world . All very well if the grounds are full for the attractive games ....but they're not and they're never going to be . Sooner or later the club is going to have to use a bit of imagination and offer a (say) £30 pound adult ticket for ALL games which come with two tree tickets for kids . Only then will it be considered a worthwhile family day out . The alternative is simple . We can see attendances go down year in , year out , with JW and co scrambling about trying to balance the books by overcharging the die-hards and away fans . And guess what , even the die hards and away fans will bugger off eventually ..... Even the punters in the pubs will get fed up watching football played in front of an empty ground .
  13. It evens itself out . If Cahill hadn't have scored there's a very good chance Friedel would have walked for his blatent shirt pulling . Maybe a goal scored was the best result - we may need Brad on good form for Sunday's game . A very fair assessment I think . Jeffers , in particular was a bewildering move . On a different note I was a little peeved by the number of times toward the end when we brought every single player back into the defence . Always better I think to tie up a couple of opposing defenders by leaving at least one player up the park . Creates more space and doesn't give off the air of panic .
  14. The following piece is from today's Citizen (online)... Priced out of Ewood claim TV pub fans By David Bartlett "THIRTY SIX quid to watch Rovers? Last season I only paid £32 to watch them against Arsenal in London." The price of a ticket persuaded Matt Briscoe, 25, of Ewood, to enjoy a pint and watch the 1-1 draw with Everton in the Ewood Arms, Bolton Road, about 300 yards from Ewood Park. Harry Shorrock, 37, of Albion Street, agreed: "Rovers is definitely too expensive. If they cut prices a lot more people would go." continued... Ewood Arms landlord Tony Walker, said he was doing nothing wrong screening the match, broadcast by an Arab television station. On Saturdays, Sky TV and the Premier League try to enforce a ban on foreign channels showing live matches in this country but some landlords have successfully fought the ban in court on a technicality. Mr Walker said: "The general consensus is fans would rather have a couple of pints than pay extortionate prices on Ewood Park." The cheapest available ticket yesterday was £27. He said the pub paid for commercial Sky to show matches that were screened by the British broadcaster. But he said rules regarding the screening of matches were a grey area and that clarification was needed. Rovers chairman John Williams has contacted the town's MP Jack Straw to express concern that the practice may be affecting attendances at Ewood Park, which have fallen by an average of almost 5,000 over the past four seasons. And Mr Straw has written to Alastair Darling, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, calling for action. John Derby, 42, travelled from Bury to take sons Adam, 10, and Nathaniel, 12, who plays for Rovers Academy, to the game. "I can understand it to a certain extent, but they should come down and support the team." He said the lack of fans was sometimes noticeable in the atmosphere at the ground, where last night's game attracted only 22,015 fans. Sgt Rachel Baines said: "We are aware that certain licensed premises within the Blackburn are in breach of this legislation and will be working with Trading Standards and Media Protection Services to help eliminate this problem." 7:00pm today ------------------------------------- Another piece in the paper today included claims from a Rochdale solicitor that he had defended 14 landlords in Lanc's under the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1998 - and won all 14 cases . Another 11 landlords have had their prosecutions dropped ..... I agree with those who feel the Rovers will only further alienate any potential fans by backing Sky so much . Much better to keep quiet and just let Sky go down this route alone if they must .
  15. The number one priority for the Fans Forum or Brisa is to get the message across to the Rovers that these "retards" as someone very aptly described them have got to go . Embarrassing and totally useless
  16. Cletus ; I've seen the same thing myself first hand and what bugs me are the "head in the clouds brigade" who think that legalising drugs will somehow help solve the problem . It won't make the slightest bit of difference to those taking the drugs or to those who have to pick up the pieces . I , too , used to have a girlfriend who started out on cannabis and then graduated on to speed . Result ? A total personality change and a waste of a life . Another lady I know has a smack head junkie as a daughter and is obliged to spend her entire life forever sorting out the resulting family problems . The result ? Many more than just one life lost to drugs .
  17. One of my first games as a Rovers fan was seeing them beaten at home one rainy night by Hartlepool in the mid 70's in one of the cups . Very depressing .....a real low .
  18. It's a sad state of affairs when everyone is getting excited by this news . (Capital G in God , Frosty )
  19. I bought 2 of those shirts a couple of weeks ago . I was quite impressed with them . Planning on splashing out on some £10 trainers next
  20. Well said Gord .......we don't want any trouble on here
  21. Like I said ...badly educated and impressionable kids easily fall into the habit
