Your final paragraph above is spot on Darwen Rover, I read several comments yesterday about Cantwell from some seasoned posters who probably had never heard of the lad until he was linked on this site. Cantwell doesn't have an attitude problem, he wanted to leave Rangers and move back down South, it happens in football all the time, it doesn't mean he's a bad egg. As someone who watches Rangers regularly, he's lost his way in the Glasgow goldfish bowl and he isn't the first and won't be the last. He hasn't fulfilled his potential hence the knock down price we've got him for. It wasn't that long ago he was touted as a £30/£40m pound player if he progressed as expected. We have a player who doesn't have an attitude problem, a player with bags of potential and despite my distain for these abhorrent owners, I'm excited at the prospect of him playing for Blackburn Rovers.

Clement was quoted as saying that was a very respectful conversation and he understood the reasoning, then dumped Cantwell with the kids to train, which is to be expected. When asked to play in the B Team, he had a Blackburn Rovers iron the fire and didn't want to get injured is the assumption. But anyway, if he signs, he's a quality player and one I never thought we'd get over the line, but it still doesn't make up for the Wharton fire sale, those Venky bastards.

I've not had time to catch-up on any 'Cantwell progress' but he won't be ready to play this weekend, he's been training with the kids since they came back for pre-season, I doubt they'd risk him, but what do I know! If he hasn't signed by now, he must be considering other offers would be my assumption....

Stopped plenty at Elland Road last season or we'd probably be in league 1 right now, but he's not great, that I agree with.

If we do sign Cantwell, it will be a major coup for a player who will be keen to prove himself again and get a move back to Premiership. A player with his experience for under £750k is an absolute steal, mark my words. Get it done.

As some have just mentioned, £600k for Cantwell is robbery, what a deal that is for a lad of his experience. I still think we struggle with his wages, unless the wage structure has been stretched for him!

I watch Rangers regularly, the lads a good player and would improve this team. But his wages at Rangers are around £25k a week a mark I believe, that seems out of our structure by about £20k!

I’m surprised we are anywhere near Cantwell to be honest, his wages seem beyond our means to me, but he’s desperate to leave Glasgow by all accounts. He’s a goal scoring midfield player with a bit of shithousery to his game. But he’s inconsistent and has lost his way somewhat North of the border. Id be very happy to see him in a Rovers shirt, on his day the best player at the club.

The lads quality, a Robbie Savage type but more ability, but his wages are beyond our reach, £25k+ a week. Can’t see it happening.
