  1. They’ll go for a decent attacking midfielder or winger if you ask me. As much from promotion as for getting BBD to 30+ goals by the end of the $ea$on.
  2. It depends who we replaced them with. Zeefuik has a good reputation, could he be better than Nyambe? Maybe. Van Hecke looks a player, could he be better than Lenihan? Maybe. That Dembele looks a player at Peterborough, could he replace Rothwell? Or Hedges? Who else have they lined up? Nobody expected Mackaday.
  3. Yes I do, I just think we’ve been incredibly unlucky. Dack was meant to leave for big money, then did his ACL. Then COVID hit and almost all clubs stopped/reduced spending. I think in a pre-covid world we would have sold Nyambe, Rothwell and Lenihan last summer (if they wouldn’t sign new deals) and replaced them with unpolished diamonds.
  4. Because theres rules to stop exactly this. You can only buy at an accurate market value. Much like there’s rules on sponsorship. They can’t just give us 10M quid to sponsor the shirts because it’s not the market value. As a side note FFP is a con to keep the big clubs big and the small clubs small. Unless we can hugely increase the clubs natural revenue we don’t have many options available to us.
  5. Never mind a PL team, I reckon as things stand a recently relegated team would spend £10M on Rothwell if he was on a 5 year deal.
  6. It’s no secret we have a 15K / week wage cap. I half agree, rather than extending contracts I think we need to be selling our players earlier if they’re not signing new deals.
  7. But FFP isn’t based on one year, it’s currently based on 4 years. So yes, this year will be better and will give us a little bit more flexibility than usual. But that doesn’t change the fact that the club makes an 8 figure loss every year. They either try and cover that with player sales or the reduce the running costs. I’d rather they went with player sales than selling the stadium, not having a Cat 1 academy, never signing a player for over a million.
  8. I reckon a contracted JR would be a £10M player to a PL team. That’s big money for a Championship midfielder. Especially one we signed for 300K.
  9. Have you listened to the podcast I posted earlier where Rovers finances are gone through in detail? You can’t just say “I’m not having it” when the numbers clearly say we only just got through FFP.
  10. They’re not rare beasts, there’s tonnes of them. Rothwell would be worth good money if he would sign. Pickering is a multi million pound player now, same with Kaminski. Wharton is a multi million pound defender already. Mackaday will be the next striker. It’s a pointless discussion and you’re killing yourself if you’re thinking there’s a chance they’ll ‘go for it’ this January. This IS them going for it. They’ll stick to the Brentford model exactly. Remember what Brentford did, they where in a strong position for a couple of years before they went up. Anyone thinking “ignore the rules, get promoted then worry about the repercussions” are living in dream land.
  11. Because they’ve got a completely unsellable asset. If they sell up today they’ll need to write off all their debts and would be lucky to get £30M. They would stand to lose over £200M. In the interest of being transparent - although how much you choose to believe is at your own discretion - here’s an exact quote I received from a current, senior Rovers/Venkys employee, that uses this Forum, when I asked the same question: Suhail and Babu run the club on behalf of Balaji. Each of the family have their own financial interests from their fathers inheritance, Blackburn is Balaji. Balaji's son studies in the UK and enjoys following and attending games. Its a personal passion for father and son.
  12. The plan is to fix up a rough diamond to sell every summer. Although it’s more like every 18 months that we would need a big sale. It’s the Brentford model, Mowbray has said it himself. Polish up a diamond, sell for big money. Reinvest wisely, buy two/three rough diamonds. Polish them up, sell one/two of them. Reinvest wisely, buy two/three rough diamonds. Eventually you’ve got a team with enough diamonds that you’re promoted.
  13. I don’t think they’re expecting to have another global pandemic anytime soon.
  14. From memory, it took selling both Arma and Brockhall to just scrape through FFP: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-brfcs-podcast/id1282664472?i=1000545177676
  15. Yeah. Apart from Conte has said he needs to be a success at Spurs because of their investment in him and to do that needs to adapt to the English game. Valencia don’t have anything like the money needed for Spurs to get a return on him. 6-months in the Championship might be - admittedly, very unlikely - but it could be just what Conte wants. I doubt Levy cares but there might be a touch of feeling bad over Mackaday?
  16. I bet we go for Bryan Gill at Spurs. Funny feeling.
  17. Call it off. Tell the EFL we can’t field a team. Need to start playing the game like the rest of them.
  18. Don’t just read it somewhere… view it for yourself here: https://www.brfcs.com/magazine/football/match/717077/hull-city-blackburn?tab=stats
  19. The BRFC MOTM voting is now open for last nights game here: https://www.brfcs.com/magazine/football/match/717077/hull-city-blackburn Navigate down to ratings and then give your own for each player.
  20. Our next 6 games are terrifying. We need to revert back to type ASAP, we need someone to stand in for Ben whilst he’s in Chile and we need him come back as Diaz.
  21. Did you just see our next 6 games on Sky? Yikes…
  22. It’s not often I’m positive, but let’s be clear here… 1) Rovers would have absolutely battered this lot on Boxing Day. 2) The postponement has favoured Hull in every aspect 3) We should have had a penalty 4) They should have had a red 5) The player that should have been sent off cleared one off the line 6) The second goal was a clear intentional block on Kaminski 7) We can’t win every game 8)) I’m going to give benefit of the doubt that we’ve only played this insane 3-4-3 formation due to player injuries, suspensions and COVID cases.
  23. Yes, that should have been a penalty. And as I’m typing this Khadra should have scored. But there are some simple changes that need to be made pretty quickly here to give us any chance because we aren’t the better team. Davenport or Johnson need to be on the pitch, we have no tackle in midfield. Buckley needs to be put into his usual position. We seem to have a formation change here and we need to revert back to 3-4-1-2 ASAP. Gallagher needs to come off. He doesn’t fit this formation and we need to accept that. We need a strong judgement call on whether both JRC and Edun are capable of playing wing back - although I appreciate we don’t have many other options. Gallagher off, Davenport on. Kaminski; Lenihan, JVH, Wharton; JRC, Rothwell, Davenport, Edun; Buckley; Brereton Khadra.
  24. Me too. Don’t like this 3-4-3.
