  1. I would spin it around and say how you know he wasn't? Watch the interviews, he fully explains things and how the process works for transfers which some people didn't understand or know how it works between him and JDT. He was open about 5 players out of 6 signings where players were tried to sign in early July. Shows that we have targets we wanted. Explained what happened with Van Der Berg.
  2. Part 3 of Gregg Broughton interview on RoversTV Videos | rovers.co.uk Here is brief outline what is said in the third interview. Gregg Broughton says it vital for Rovers to have an academy going forward. He says our catchment area is massive area for talent players and gives credit for the staff for producing them but also youth recruitment staff for finding these young players and signing them here. Says we haven't reached our potential by any reach of. Says Category 1 status is vital for us. Opportunity for young players to play in our first team and developing them here is our unique selling point to young players. Contract management for players is vital including our young players. Says we got to look 2 or 3 years ahead in terms of contract management. From all three parts of the interview, Gregg Broughton was open and honest in his interview and with all his comments. I would say I think overall he has been good appointment and finally we now have a proper Director of Football/head coach structure.
  3. I fully understand how PR works thanks Matty but like I said you are just over complicating it all again. Anyway, I will leave it there for this discussion
  4. For me, you are over complicating it all with this PR stuff instead of listening to him talk about Football issues and how the transfer window went for our great club Blackburn Rovers under him for his first 3 months and we should take him at his word. if you disagree fine by me
  5. we are going to have to agree to disagree here. I stand by my viewpoint Matty
  6. of course, it is cynical not to trust what Gregg Broughton at his word since none of us can say he isn't the truth at all. I will always take it at face value unless I have any evidence that says what they are saying isn't true.
  7. Not at all but I take him at his word and if you don't fair enough but some of us aren't cynical like others. Rovers should use it's own tv channel and other social media channels to communicate much more to its own fanbase like more interviews with different people at the club. Markanday hasn't be selected for the 18-man match day squad and he hasn't been on injured.
  8. I always maintained that England football manager should be English, and I had that opinion for over 20 years. Nothing is for sure; I would say Southgate will have England playing better when the world cup starts. Yes. I have named my England team and how I would line up for the world cup first game. Also, I am not surprised by any comments you have on Mount cos you have never rated him
  9. Or you could take that he is telling the truth and take him at his word instead of being cynical of him. Also you always looking for problems that just aren't there. Rovers should be using its TV channel to do more interviews like this instead of local media.
  10. Looks like David Wagner will be the next manager/head coach at Huddersfield. He returns to the club after walking out on them when the tough got going. I think its very poor choice and I think Hoyle will regret this decision. Should have gone for someone like Liam Manning from MK Dons or Matt Taylor from Exeter City or Mark Bonner from Cambridge
  11. In some ways yes but what I would like to know is how they reached their stance on what valuation is right for that player like BBD? is it done with Steve Waggott and other footballing people at the club? is it from Gregg Broughton and Jon Dahl Tomasson opinion cos JDT reckons he was worth more than that. That what we don't know
  12. I thought Harry Brook and Ben Duckett innings yesterday was great all cricket and show why I would be keeping them in the England squad for the t20 world cup and I would be looking for them to play in the 50 over game aswell
  13. It's how the owners want to run the club and I agree with Rovers rejecting the offers we had BBD cos they were well below Rovers valuation. Gregg Broughton agrees with their stance
  14. If you look back actually at what I posted I said most of them were in form for their clubs. Pickford, Tripper, Stones, Dier, Kane, Foden, Rice, Bellingham all in form. Chilwell on his way back from injury and how best left back imo. Mount and Grealish I want in my team for Creativity
  15. I guess it's in case we lose a few players overnight due to illness or covid, But JDT wants each team training the same days and allow him to have a look at a few young players That's how the fixtures were schedule this season I guess when was the norm?
  16. Look at the failure under Capello and Eriksson given the salary they were paid and how we played in the tournaments with them at the helm. mostly dire. Yes McClaren and Taylor failed but Sir Bobby Robson, Terry Venables and Gareth Southgate have produced our best tournaments in the last 37 years. I also believe that the England football manager should be English. If you fine but I won't be changing my opinion on it
  17. @roversfan99have you watch the second part of the interview with Gregg Broughton yet? He explains how transfers are done and the process. Are you happy with the explanation or not? Having watch the second part of the interview now, he explains how George Hirst was our first choice striker signing, and it was Jon Dahl Tomasson who made him our first choice striker target. Five out of 6 summer signings were identified in early July and Rovers enquiry for these players very quickly. Sepp Van Der Berg was set to sign here until Liverpool stopped the deal. The medical was done aswell interviews and photos was done aswell for him. Rovers would like to have their shortlist for summer transfer target done by Easter and 2 or 3 players in before pre-season starts ideally (something to judge and know for future transfer windows). Rovers have advertised for Head of European Scouting now. Gregg Broughton met Ben Brereton Diaz and his agent early on after his appointment happen and they want to move if the right opportunity came along but he never asked to leave the club. Owners set the valuation on him, and no club got anywhere close to it with any offer. We only had offers in below 10 million pounds for him which were all rejected. He gives BBD huge credit for his attitude and performances so far and never once let any of the media speculation bother him or let it affect his performances
  18. Chilwell is coming back from injury firstly. Mount has a lack of form recently but is a quality player. Grealish has the skill and fair I want in my team where we can create chances for Kane and others to score. It's quite clear that our best tournements results happens when we have an English manager in charge. Here are a few examples for you. Semi-final under Bobby Robson in 1990 world cup or same in Euro 96 under Terry Venables or the 2 tournaments under Gareth Southgate. In my opinion, we should always have an English manager/coach in charge of the England national team
  19. JDT wants the players playing at weekend's so the players can train together through the week and also he can have a look at more under 21's players training with the first team. I can understand that even if it's means not attend to games of the under 21's
  20. I have only watched the first part of the Gregg Broughton's interview and I thought he came across very well and very insightful of the start of his reign as Director of Football. His comments are most than welcome. He also said he speaks directly to the owners and doesn't have to go through Steve Waggott to them. He says the owners have backed him and JDT in every way possible. To be honest, it's time that Rovers used their own channels including Rovers TV for interviews with Gregg Broughton, Jon Dahl Tomasson and Steve Waggott for a prime example. Hasn't this question already by Rovers that no club met our asking price, and we won't sell on the cheap like you suggested that you would have accept an offer of below 10 million pounds. I would imagine Gregg Broughton might answered in more detail in the second part of the interview but Rovers have explained in the statements on the website. i very doubt Gregg Broughton is going to talk publicly about how much is left in the pot and why would you make that public to other clubs and agents. Also, similar answer to the Brereton funds point. Gregg Broughton and Jon Dahl Tomasson explained fully how the process for recruiting and signing players happens when the were unveiled to the media in July. Why is that a question for Gregg Broughton since that not an area of the club he is responsible for?
  21. I would say most of those players are in form for their clubs.
  22. My team would be Pickford Tripper Stones Dier Chilwell Rice Bellingham Foden Mount Grealish Kane
  23. Channel 4 won the England football broadcasting rights. Outbid both BBC, Sky and ITV. All that matters is tournament results. Southgate has delivered semi finals and final in his tournament football in his 2 tournaments.
  24. Southgate was the best English candidate and still is the best choice right now. The England manager should always be English. Its always delivered our best tournament results
