Summer transfer window 2021.

No surprise McCarthy at Cardiff went for Collins and another striker to help Moore out. Was linked with Boro and Bristol City aswell. Boro has signed Lumley as number 1 for next season haven't they? Not seen much of Field to comment enough on him but was highly rated at WBA when Pulis was there why unrealistic? He would be regular starter here and key player for us. Would he be that at some of the other clubs who want him. Hope he doesn't go to the MLS club. Why loan Dolan out? Why not play him wide and used his tricky and pace to our benefit next season on the right side of front 3 or wide man in 4 man midfield with JRC for competition for the wide spot. Unsure whether we should sign Chapman for next season Would Rhodes fit into Mowbray's way of playing and formation? Under a manager who is willing to play front 2 then Maybe Rhodes would have been option but as lone striker at aged 31 not for me. exactly. This forum did have a meltdown over this. -

Dan Pike has signed a 2 years contract with an option for a third year. Delighted for him and he should be part of the first team squad next season.

Mount will be key player for England along Foden, Sterling and Kane in a front 4. Mount's form this season has made him key player for us now

Callum Davidson doing really well at St. Johnstone and double cup winners in Scotland. Must be contender for the Rovers job(unless he moved on to a bigger club) whenever we have a vacancy which I think will be about 10 to 15 games into next season if Rovers start badly and Fans get on the back on Mowbray inside Ewood Park. It does looks like Mowbray is staying in place for the start of next season. Does Wilder fit into their set up with Luke Dowling there as Sporting Director at WBA. Wilder left Sheffield United cos one of the reasons was he didn't want a sporting director at the club ain't coming here -
Other football league 2020/21 season
chaddyrovers replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Lincoln through the playoff final. Deserve it after the 2nd half performance and their 1st leg result. Sunderland now in league 1 for a fourth season and I wonder whether Stuart Harvey regrets moving there as head of recruitment. Well done to Michael Appleton at Lincoln. Will face Blackpool in final next Sunday 30th May -

Did a decent enough job here. No idea what happened to his career still leaving here. But Mowbray did have 7 midfielders on bench but no strikers against Birmingham for example. Did we really need that many on bench? We need 3 or 4 midfielders then a couples strikers on bench plus a couple of defenders on there -

I thought Nuttall was decent enough tbh. Far from useless. Well until we give McBride a chance in the first team we will never know. He has score goals at under 23's. I like his movement. Do you watch many under 23's games? I rather play our young players then players like Evans and Downing who left the clubs last few games. Wouldnt you? -

I answer this already to you several times. Why keep asking the same question. I would not play Nyambe for few games for Pike to play. Play McBride in front 3 from left or play 2 up front with Armstrong. Easy solutions. We need a manager/head coach who believe in youth development -

Of course we are short in their positions. Rankin-Costello should be playing forward then Pike as back up for Nyambe. You wouldn't be expecting Pike and McBride to be as good as the players that are already there at their age. But by not given them first team game time last few games was a mistake by Mowbray. But you give them proper opportunities to play and game time instead of using players who weren't going to be staying. -

Look at how Barnsley have done it. Remarkable story this season. Brentford or Norwich also. -

not interested in Boro connections. But we need a left side midfield and I would prefer left footer one. Also suggested Callum O'Dowda from Bristol City as another one I would look at -

Why would any manager resign these days? even Wilder didn't walk but waited until a deal was agreed for his pay off. Clubs have philosophy they want to work within. Barnsley for example or Norwich. Plus Budget to work towards especially after Post Covid time which will be reduce for most Championship clubs. Norwich have sporting director/head coach structure that has produced 2 promotions but they havent overspend and worked within a budget. Mowbray has had over 20 million pounds to spend plus wages in the 3 seasons and we never got close to the top 6. Time for a change of manager and structure for me. I would imagine Rovers owners will want their losses reducing this season and will allow the manager to sign players but within a tight budget unless Armstrong is sold. Thats where our investment in our recruitment, scouting and data analysis department needs to come to front and find these players that we need and improve our team. Alot of those players we have let go needed to be released cos they weren't good enough for our first team now. I have seen plenty of Pike playing before the lockdown happened. Plus I have watched Every under 21's that Rovers covered. Plus talking to Sharpe and Crooke who attended the games. But this is why Mowbray should have played them in first team games towards end of the season instead he bottled it yet again for Evans, Downing, etc. We signed Pears when for me we have Eastham who could have been number 3 keeper this season. We didn't need another Keeper signings after signing Kaminski and the other foreign keeper. -

Barnsley seems to doing ok without players over 30 years old? I think Pike as right back option and McBride as striker option are ready but is Mowbray ready to trust them? -
Buckley should have playing regularly until end of the season. If Evans, Trybull and Downing weren't going to be here then they shouldn't have feature in our last 8 games. Thats why Mowbray should have given them game time in the last 8 games whether its was starting the game like Pike at Right back or Burns on the left of the front 3 or coming off the bench for 20 mins or so.

Linked with Bristol City and Boro this weekend. Decent striker but we already have Sam Gallagher already. Now unless we have going to change our play this season under Mowbray then I don't see the point in signing another big striker. Reports in the North East suggest that his wage demands are far too high for Boro to pay. -

Wrong Stuart, You don't need loads of money to build a good quality team as this can been done on good free transfers, low cost fees and loans. Just look at Barnsley as an example as a team who has an identity and proper recruitment plan. They don't over pay or buy anyone over 24 years old. If you have good recruitment, scouting and data analysis department then you should be able to find them players from the UK, Belgium, France, Germany, etc. Plus a manager willing to trust his recruitment staff and his head of recruitment. Maybe this is why we need to go Sporting Director/head coach structure like Norwich have and look at the players they have recruited since Webber joined Sporting Director and Farke as head coach. Bennett hasn't been offered a new deal tho. He has held talks but no offer as been made similar to the Conway situation a couple of seasons again. Like I said I expect Bennett to move on from Rovers and join a club closer to home based in the midlands and spend less time away from his family on a weekly basis. JRC, Nyambe and Rothwell have been offered new deals but talks still on going. Didn't Buckley say when he sign his new deal thats it took nearly a year to agree terms? Was Bell offered a deal thats wasn't signed? where this from as both local reporters say he wasn't offered a new deal. Why keep Chapman? I would take these 2 players as it gives us a left footer centre player in Mowatt and a leader in midfield with Travis and play Buckley in the 10 role. Pearson is an experience centre back on a free espically with Ayala fitness problems likely to happen again this coming season. -
Its a good idea Joe about changing it from under 23's to under 21's even. I think you seem the benefit of Carter this season past going on loan and playing regular 1st team football in league 1. I think Rovers and our youth management setup doesn't do enough to get our good young players out of loan if they aren't good enough to break into our 1st team like Travis or Raya was. But get them loans to league 1 or 2 clubs. Thats cos first team managers won't play them in it. I remember watching Rovers under 23's vs Man City under 23's a couple of seasons where Mangala played and he was awful and Rovers players torn him apart. I think Pike, Eastham(could be number 2 or 3 choice for Rovers 1st team), Burns and McBride could set up to the 1st team for me and Mowbray should have given them a few games towards the end of the season instead of playing of players who werent going to be here next season. Its was mistake(another one by Mowbray) not to do so

If Mowbray has been told that he will have to use some of under 23's this coming season due to lack of room in the budget and the owners want to see the manager bring through more then I am not against it considering how much investment we have made in having category 1 status even in league 1 and over the past 10 years of the owners' reign here. Is Mowbray the right manager and can he develop them is a big question Johnson might be the perfect choice to bring them through as manager/head coach or even as number 2 under new manager/head coach who believe in youth development -
The club is going to get a surprise on how many Season Ticket will be sold or the cost of them for fans for new season?
