Of Course any manager should pick their backroom staff. At no point have I said otherwise Roversfan99. A direct style doesnt suit anymore with players like Rothwell, Dack, Holtby, Armstrong, Gallagher. I would like to see Armstrong up front more now. Use his pace central.. Like I said again, Hughton playing style gets worse without Colin Calderwood. Yes Hughton team did score goals at Brighton in the championship but would he did it here? We have ZERO idea. But he change it to defensive style and spent a loads of money on poor signings. Like I said everytime Hughton is well out of reach down to 2 simple reasons. 1, he turned 2 championship manager jobs and 2, his salary would be out of reach. We dont pay big wages as we have discuss(with other people) off this forum which you ignore again. Also Ainsworth has never had Hughton budget at a club and his stock is going up and up. He shouldnt take the Sunderland job at all -

Never said it would did I? I dont know if Johnson and Duff are even friends? My choice would be Johnson. Ive explained my thoughts and feelings on Hughton Roversdan99 throughly. Clearly you didnt read them or just ignored them. Have you spoken to every Rovers fan then to come out with a statement like this "defending the "style" of football Mowbrays Rovers have played, which almost every single other person finds to be boring, so suppose it is all subjective!" On Ainsworth, have you seen his budget at Wycombe compare to the budget Hughton had Brighton or he would have here. Maybe he plays that way for lack of decent budget but still over achieve. Anything you would like to about my choice of Johnson as 1st choice? -

Would you not agree Hughton seems to better with Calderwood as number 2 than without? My Huddersfield fan mate is very happy with Cowley impact so far aswell.. You know your football Mercer so who would this Cowley type? Someone like Michael Flynn at Newport or Ainsworth at Wycombe? What is on your view on Damien Johnson and whether you think you could be this Cowley type? Thanks for response in advance -

I voted for Johnson. He needs the right structure around him and coaching staff. I cant see Hughton coming here at all. He turned Sheff Wed job last summer and Stoke Job recently. I also have worried over his style since Calderwood leave his role as number 2 has got very defensive and long ball tactics. I think Gareth Ainsworth deserves to be interview by us/. Doing at great job at Wycombe Wanderers. No to Harris or O'Neill. I would be happy with Rowett or Adkins would be decent options but unsure on if they could get us top 6 Unsure on Coleman. -
@JoeH you 1st post is very good and informative. I also agree that one day Johnson will manage us one day. If he is appoint we have the right structure around him.

Gomes sacked at Reading -
I wonder how he coach without his trusted number 2 there at Reading. Mark Hughes time at Ewood Park was special days for me I think one of the worst thing he did was walk out of Rovers. You are correct when you say he was next big thing. I think he made too many mistakes taking jobs like QPR or Man City.. Its interesting he never looked to manage overseas at all. Never seen a link or owt either.

Cant see Hughes getting another Premier League job now. Only way he manage agsin in Premier League is by getting a team promote.
-
Mark Bowen at Reading as sporting Director. Be interesting to see Who is on his staff there?

Woild you like to see Rovers employ a sporting director/head coach structure? -
Like I said on Saturday I couldn't complain if Mowbray was sack. I explained my views on Forest and QPR games and how we played. and who I think our key players. I deffo wouldn't say Mowbray is lacking passion, drive or heart. I did suggest a number of possible targets. I have admit I don't know who I would appoint if Mowbray was to go.

You would hope Barnsley have an idea who they want before sacking Stendal. It would be interesting who they appoint. They seem to have a plan of buying young players and developing players. I am not aware that Barnsley have sporting director/director of football Stability at clubs can be having the right structure at clubs like if you look Brentford as an example. They have Philip Giles there are Director of football with head coach under him. Dean Smith did a good job there. Now Frank is there. I would like to see Sporting Director/head coach structure in place at Rovers after Mowbray leaves. It would allow the head coach to focus on tactics, coaching the players, matchdays without having to focus on scouting or transfer matters. Sporting director works in buying players, scouting system and structure and contracts. Sporting Director and head coach works together to choose the right players they want, for example lets say if head coach want a pacey winger its the Sporting Director job to find 3 or 4 players to fit that role and the Head coach and Sporting Director work together to choose their 1st target -

The takeover has collapsed now No surprise that Ross has been sacked. Alot of Sunderland fans wanted her gone in the summer. Current Betting favourite(Sky Bet) is Daniel Stendal
