Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?
bigbrandjohn replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Agree, and the market for” free “is a lot more crowded. It was a strategic punt to get the man. We got him and I am sure JDT will get a tune out of him, especially if our top striker’s diaz are numbered.🥴 -

Bigbrandjohn 2022/23 strategy 1 Sign or sell Brereton this month 2 sign 2 proven players and 2 with potential. Remainder loans. 3 Risk 3 of our academy in the squad. 4 Play attractive football 5 Embrace the errors that will be made as youngsters transition. 6 Target 1 or 2 signings in January window 7 Accept top 10 position in first year having won and lost with creativity and imagination. 8 JDT and DOF talk sense and humility not bollocks 8 Rinse and repeat. -

Thats how it works in life unfortunately. You have to leave a company to get a 30% increase. Otherwise it is a bobbins inflation increase. -

One thing that appears not to have been mentioned in the free transfer discussion. In the January transfer window we were in a solid play off position. Venkys decided to gamble on a good team pressing for promotion rather than cash in on three players in the window and maybe get rush replacements who take time to settle in. Markaday was brought in to strengthen the attack. It wasn’t a bad strategy. All hell would have broken loose if we had sold the players and then screwed up. We gave it a go, The manager screwed up, the players screwed up Venkys lost 10 million quid and Mowbray moved on. I am ready to move on. I know we won’t be pressing for the play offs. I am hoping things will be more exciting. -

I think we just have to draw a line in the sand and look forward. We have a whole new set up. This is undoubtedly a project, luckily not a Mowbray journey up and down windy roads. I am excited, that we have cleared the decks. We have a young manager and apparently a solid Director of Football who has made sound comments so far. Game on. No point in looking back unless you plan on going that way. -

“My agent said Middlesbrough were interested and the gaffer wants to get to the Premier League. "It is the same ambition as mine and he was very impressive with what he had to say. He knows the league, he's got promoted (before) and this club itself is a Premier League club. You look around the training ground, the stadium, it's a really good club and it has great ambition.” Odd comments. Maybe Mowbray told him Boro were more ambitious than us. -

I wonder whether Nyambe’s injury problems were Mowbray related? New younger manager may influence, but methinks he fancies a pay day, or his agent does. Which may account for him pulling out of the Namibian games? -
Tomasson was known for his positional strength and fine finishing as a forward, despite his lack of notable pace or physicality.[2] He also drew praise from pundits and managers for his discipline in training, and for his work-rate and movement off the ball, as well as his ability to create space for his teammates with his runs.[6][38] A versatile player, he was capable of playing both as a striker and as a second striker.[39] Luvly.

Seems the barcodes have fond memories of him, begrudging his success. https://www.newcastleworld.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/former-newcastle-united-forward-set-to-land-blackburn-rovers-managerial-role-3729171 He comes in at a challenging time. Needs a work permit. Needs to sort his backroom team. Needs to finalize Brereton and who to use the money on if he goes without pissing it down the drain. Needs to get to India. Needs to sort out the defence. Needs to take training. Needs to have it sorted by mid August. “Needs up Mother Brown.” Good luck mate.

The best manager is one sitting in the seat. Otherwise they will be training themselves. Just roll the dice and get on with it. Good to have a DOF who favours youth. Announce this week and get the show on the road. It won’t be Pulis or Pardew so we are good. shame it won’t be Dyche but I will take a bet on new blood.

So no news on a manager then? Maybe we could conduct a poll on which manager we would like out of those rumored to be sitting in the cold seat, and see if our desires are matched by the outcome. Not sure how to set it up but I would go for Ferguson. Seems passionate, players respond to successful ex players and nobody would argue with him. Kind of Howard Kendall meets Neil Warnock. We need a kick up the arse and Broughton can sort the academy and transfers out starting with Van Hecke.
