Not a dig at you personally Mercer but it does make me laugh how good we are on here at praising other teams for getting in someone completely green because it's done quickly but go apoplectic at the thought of us having Big Dunc for example. It might not be the way to do it if Rosenior turns out to be a Brian Kidd. ... I'm not an advocate for Ferguson either before anyone accuses me of that - don't want him here.

Wouldn't have been my first choice for sure but I don't see it as any worse than the plethora of betting companies getting their grubby hands everywhere. -
The hyperbole remark was regarding Mowbray compared to most of the rest of the so-called 'managers'. I'm glad he's gone, he ultimately outstayed his welcome but not sure you can disagree that he's left us in a better place than we were when he rocked up or you gonna dispute that too 'cos it fits the agenda?
-
See, I get a bit weary of this. For all that Mowbray choked in the home straight and a parting of the ways was correct so that hopefully someone new could come in and take us further, you also can't argue that according to last seasons football league pyramid we ended up the 28th best team in the country which, given pre-season message board belief that relegation was coming, means we out performed expectations (I know as well as anyone we could and should have got in the play offs so no need for anyone to open that can of worms again). Mowbray has many faults and was ultimately too limited and found wanting but your comments above do seem a little hyperbolic. Now Kean, Coyle etc. are an entirely different argument... Now come on Venky's - surprise us with a new manager we can all get behind and look to the future with optimism.

As much as I hate Everton and Leeds, much better that Burnley come down, both for the obvious reason and the fact that I think they'll struggle next season and certainly won't be favourites to go straight back up.
-
It's the hope that kills you in the end. From a season where there was a strong belief we we would really struggle we ended up defying expectations and, just for a while, it felt like we were headed back to the promised land. Ultimately our long standing failings returned to put the kibosh on our season; death spirals, wafer thin squad, lack of goals, poor transfer windows, management errors etc. etc. As I look back now and think about Mowbray's reign as a whole I can say that it seems to me unarguable that we're in a better place than when he arrived (this squad is far more exciting than the one he inherited)., Perversely, I'm also comfortable in saying I'm glad he's leaving as the time definitely feels right. Of course, what happens post-Mowbray depends largely on who replaces him and, understandably, given previous appointments there's a lot of anxiety about this. The squad is going to need a significant overhaul too; Nyambe, Lenihan, Johnson, Davenport & Rothwell all gone.. not to mention a set of loanee's, some who contributed much to the season, returning to their parent clubs (Van Hecke, Khedra, Poveda, Giles). Essentially that's almost half the staring eleven gone in one fell swoop. Maybe I'm being naive in saying that I'd like to think Rovers remain an attractive proposition for the right manager. Maybe it ties in to not wanting one of the usual journeymen who seem to do the rounds everywhere (Steve Bruce being a typical example) but instead a young hungry manager who sees the opportunities as much as the challenges. It's going to an interesting summer that's for sure.

Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?
yeti-dog replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Khedra does have the whiff of the headless chicken about him but he was a big miss in the run-in. He has real pace, which terrifies opponents and left us too one dimensional up front. -

I'm done with Lenihan - I'm not convinced he knows what to do with a football other than lash it... -

Have a word with yourself. I know you've backed yourself into a corner on this particular topic but Rothwell will deserve all the fans vitriol he gets if he does rock up at Bournemouth. The bloke clearly has no moral compass. -

Of course! - it's all Mowbrays fault and JR is an innocent in all of this, why didn't I see that. Rothwell is obviously a player who likes to run his contract down - he has form for it after all. Tony, devious fecker that he is, waits for Joe to say he wants to talk to other clubs and then takes that chance to throw him under the bus. Genius! There's a job waiting for you in Boris Johnson's team - he's going to need someone to spin the rest of us a yarn soon once that report comes out.- 7479 replies

Typically hyperbole from you. Decent player but has always been inconsistent. This season things have come together for him and now he's on his way. Time to move on.... -

Just my opinion, same as the ones you spout. Probably is B/S about him wanting to leave but if that changes no club wants someone there whose head has been turned. Don't see what the issue you've got with that to be honest. -

If he's asked to leave - get rid and replace him but do it ASAP. Don't won't him to go but also don't want anyone sucking the positive energy out of the place. -

There's scores of clubs having the exact same issue so don't try and make it a unique example of bad management by us. Look at Chelsea and what about PSG and Mbappe?? There are many more examples out there too as you well know. We've even picked up Markanday on the cheap for effectively the same reason... -

Well, that was anti-climactic. Had a bad vibe from the off given as we were live on TV (that usually doesn't end well). It was a strange, lacklustre performance - started off poor, we did improve at times throughout the game but not to the extent that we in any way deserved to win that. You could possibly argue a point might have been fair given a couple of the appalling refereeing decisions but it is what it is. We now need to respond like we did after the Fulham loss. We need a few more in too - the squad quality and strength in depth needs improving. Hard to truly believe we can end up in the top 2 after that performance but we had to lose some time, we'll learn now about their strength of character, resilience etc.... -

I can't necessarily say why but that I find that goals compilation a bit underwhelming. As mentioned by someone else, some of that defending is truly abysmal which probably doesn't help.
