  1. Love it!! The 12 year old you allude to was actually a mate of mine who was 20 at the time. He had the freeze frame as his Facebook photo for a while!! What a game though in the best atmosphere I can remember at Ewood. The half time break was surreal with non stop chanting and a kind of collective realisation that finally it was going to be OUR year.
  2. Hankey has started to make more pro PDC noises lately suggesting that he could make the switch. He must've seen the money on offer and when Merv King (who I believe is an inferior player to Ted) can establish himself as a top 8 player so quickly, he must fancy a piece of it. Martin Adams has his main sponsorship with Lakeside (inextricably linked with the BDO and their flagship tournament) so he wont be making the switch. Personally I think that's a shame because he really could make a mark in the PDC. Also good to see Magnus Caris in the last 8 of the Masters in Bridlington - not heard from him since 1994 when he made the World Semi Finals when he was beaten in a great match by Bobby George. Also saw Dave Whitcombe in the Friday qualifiers for the same tournament, looks like he's joined the BDO again after being periodically barred from the PDC for taking part in the 'Legends' series.
  3. Did he not fight successfully to clear his name on the drug charges?
  4. It's all set up for a Taylor Barney final for me and I think it'll be a cracker. Like the look of the boy Nicholson, the Aussie Geordie (from Blyth incidentally) two very good wins against Lewis and Priestley. Think the Stompe Mardle game will be a good one later this aft too, slightly favour the Dutchman. As for tonight, think it's Barney 4-0, Wade 4-3 and Klaasen 4-2.
  5. Agreed. Man U celebrate Busby, Liverpool - Shankly but it's doubtful even those legends had as much of an impact on their club as Jack Walker did. We should never forget and equally we should not let fans of other clubs forget either.
  6. No not really, just wanted to get pedantic before someone else did!!
  7. 'Important' bands don't have to be prolific, there aren't many more 'important' bands than the Sex Pistols and they only released two albums.
  8. I'm with you there EIT, we would've declined quite rapidly in a Souness style had Hughes stayed. As you quite rightly say, the pinnacle was when we had a fit and firing Bellamy, since then it got worse and last season was downright awful to watch. No exciting football, players who looked like they were believing their own publicity, a pitiful record at attacking and defending set pieces, no pace throughout the team, an emphasis on counter attacking play without the players to carry it out and when given a lifeline in the last game of the season, a bottle job that Jean Van de Velde would have been proud of. Hughes leaving was the right move at the right time for all parties, of that I have no doubt. Whether the same can be said of Ince's appointment, only time will tell.
  9. Nice one Jim, let me know when he's making his debut at the zoo, I may be enticed along, by the way, who's training him? As for Ashanti Prince, he got a couple of injuries and we decided to retire him. Can I just say that there's a lot of bad publicity of what happens to dogs when they finish racing but our trainer Darren Hampson put us in contact with a good greyhound rehoming kennels in Stoke on Trent. So Ashanti is now enjoying his retirement and we can enjoy the memories of his (all too infrequent!) successes.
  10. A Rover she most certainly is, despite being brought up on the dark side.
  11. Funnily enough Suzanne Geldard is a Rover, and she reports on the apes. Has Paul Plunkett gone now? Don't recall seeing his name or contributions in there for quite a while.
  12. I'm with you brother, we cannot just gloss over his tenure at Newcastle as a 'blip'. The Bolton scenario was something he built from nothing, and all credit to him for that, but he'd be taking over something that needs tuning rather than demolishing and rebuilding here. I don't think he can or will do that.
  13. I'm sure Atko still lives at Jack Key's in Darwen, last time I heard of him he was Stalybridge Celtic assistant manager.
  14. I believe he makes his money on repeat fees of TV Burp these days anyway.
  15. Just to confirm that the 'Legends of Darts' tour is at King George's Hall on the 20th June. The players participating are John Lowe, Eric Bristow, Peter Evison, Bob Anderson, Cliff Lazarenko, Bobby George, Dave Whitcombe and Keith Deller. Just looked at the website and also noticed that Paul Booth (formerly of the Hordens) is MC for all the tour dates too. Should really put up a link but if you go to the stars of darts forum it's on there somewhere.
  16. I thought Jim Bob had just released a solo album recently? Nevertheless, good to see them back on the road - saw them at the Academy in 1991, they were quality.
  17. And the moral of the story is, never change your mind. Well done with Katchit Hasta, can't believe I jumped off.
  18. With you on Katchit and L'ami Hasta. Good luck to all who are playing. EDIT - Well that's what I thought originally, ended up backing Straw Bear EW and Rippling Ring in the 2.00 for the win. I've binned L'Ami, here's hoping I don't regret it.
  19. Just hope that Katchit can prevail in the Champion Hurdle, must have a chance. Also quite interested in Straw Bear at a price...have a feeling the Irish might just get turned over in this one. Can only be Kauto Star in the Gold Cup for me Hasta and his 2nd successive Betfair Million pounds. Find it hard to believe he's still odds against on Betfair - buying money for me that is. Not really looked at the rest of the card closely yet, will get down to it tonight.
  20. Mughli on curry mile is bang on, great food and service. Also like La Tasca on Deansgate. Best Italian restaurant I've been to has to be Carlo's in Colne, if you can put up with the area and gobshited nature of the natives it's well worth a visit. Good shout for Dean's Cafe though - always good to get a shoe shine off the rats in the toilets.
  21. It's those Uncle Jack's FC boys on a Sunday after the game. Tight as submarine doors they are - the lot of 'em.
