To the contrary, given the pattern of recent seasons, it’s highly unlikely to stretch to a player tied to a long term contract at a divisional rival. Our best chance of signing Thomas would be if he struggles for the rest of the season and Huddersfield go down, (or the seemingly impossible happens and we go up).

Given that Thomas is under contract until 2026, and we have a budget of 50P and a bag of Revels, we probably won’t be able to afford him, especially if he does well.

I think the jury is out about Broughton’s ideas. I’m struggling to get past his reasoning for not signing an experienced midfielder, (and he seems to have the same idea further up the pitch). He has no pedigree, is cutting his teeth as a DOF and will only get offers elsewhere if he does well at Rovers.

I fear he is the latest to ride the Rovers gravy train, although I desperately want him to prove me wrong. His demeanour is like that of a politician, and one I’m not sure I can trust. I see him sticking around come what may, whereas I see JDT walking if we keep getting hammered.

Agreed, so in keeping with this we combine the two faults together and go after (another) goal shy kid who will fit the goal shy system.

The contribution we desperately need is putting the ball in the back of the net. It's just a continuation of the obsession with young players, whether they are ours or a Premier League club's. The first team is run as if it's an academy team. Winning is not the main aim.

Sounds about right. We wouldn’t want to undermine the “established” Gallagher and Vale by signing an experienced striker.

It’s the manner and regularity of the defeats that are the concern. We are consistently shipping four goals. I also agree with the groundswell of opinion that we have little or no ambition for promotion, either now or in the future. It’s all smoke and mirrors overseen by the same ignorant, disinterested owners.
