  1. I was thinking the other day that if Allardyce were here he’d almost certainly have Downing in cm, like he did with Pedersen. He’s too old to play in the wing and not a natural left-back.
  2. Of course. I'm just giving it straight from the horse's
  3. “I don’t think we should be nailing something down just one way.” “We have to find different ways to win games and that’s what we intend to do, the players have to understand that if they’re not playing one week it might be because we’re going with wingers because we’ve seen a weakness at full back, we might be going with two strikers, or two No.10s. “I think they have that got that message through pre-season, it won’t be the same every week. “It will be about finding the way we feel can win each game. “They are mature players, as long as they know what’s expected and how we plan to win and we sell them the game-plan then that’s fine, they are happy and don’t mind. “The old adage of keeping a winning team, in modern day football you have to prepare and try and win the next game.”
  4. Evans and Travis probably our best cm pairing. If Brereton isn’t up for this one, he never will be.
  5. That’s not the same team. Eastern FC is an official partner club based in New York. Orlando Rovers are just shamelessly ripping off our logo.
  6. I’m sure Gladwin’s on relative peanuts but it’s another body taking up a wage who will never contribute to the first team. Just because our boss felt sorry for the lad.
  7. Oh sure, that sounds like a great idea...
  8. "We are in talks with Blackburn Rovers regarding all of those details... But to clarify no official affiliation at this moment"
  9. And Rovers. We had a homegrown ball-playing centre-half and we showed him the door.
  10. Problem is that the win at Bristol City probably validated his old approach. Nevermind the countless times it's failed miserably.
  11. I've sent them a message on Facebook.
  12. Thing is, you don’t need to break the bank to get out of this league. What did Burnley’s promotion side cost again? Few mil? I’m honestly surprised by Venky’s largesse in buying Gallagher and Brereton. One player who flattered to deceive here already, another who was an unknown quantity but both with an English premium. I’m sure there will be agents laughing all the way to the bank on that one.
  13. Is that the same one which recruited Gallagher and Brereton? ?
  14. Best thing about Souness is that he immediately identified the dross and shipped them out. There was no settling for second best. Granted, we haven’t got the likes of Dunn, Duff and Jansen to build around but he also recruited well. Hignett, Berg, Friedel, Berkovic, Curtis, none of them broke the bank. Apples and oranges, I suppose. Souness was under no illusion as to the job expected of him. Jack wanted Rovers back where they belonged. Now we’re reduced to a yearly agenda item at a meeting half a world away.
  15. You could have Chapman/JRC and Armstrong bombing down the wings but the full-backs would be working overtime. Then again that seems to happen anyway when you have players always drifting inside.
  16. Do Wycombe play good football? Would be interesting to hear from a few of their fans. I don’t think we can afford to be too choosy about the style of football we want. Whatever gets results.
  17. We played some champagne stuff under Woy... in 97/98 at least ? What was the reason for the wheels coming off that season? We looked like title contenders at one point.
  18. Huddersfield's manager always looked animated and vocal on the touchline, while Mowbray just stood in silence with his arms crossed. Different managers have different styles I guess, but at least it looked like their manager was involved and trying to influence the game.
  19. Downing, Graham, Smallwood, Hart, Leutwiler, Bell, and Samuel are all out of contract in the summer. Graham is yesterday's man. Frankly it's embarrassing we're still calling on him to lead the line, particularly after spending £12m on "firepower". Downing has added a little class and experience but he's 36 next summer. Personally, I'd bin the lot of them, not that I expect the manager to have the ruthlessness to do that. There's a few others I'd clear out too. We have all this money invested in state-of-the-art training facilities, maybe we should use some of those drones to scout some half-decent players?
  20. Why do you think signing some more players will do the trick? It’s just more faces for Mowbray to shuffle about, play in the wrong position or relegate to the U23s. If I were Venkys I wouldn’t give Mowbray another dime since the £12m investment has boasted three goals. A new management team would be my priority.
  21. Didn’t even play Chapman on his right side.
  22. You won't change him. He stumbled on a winning formula and stuck with it despite himself but the festive period and Dack’s injury has given him license to tinker again. I wouldn’t mind if all this rotation produced a tactical masterclass but the players look more confused than anybody else. What the hell was the thinking behind today’s chop and change? He’s got to move on, he won’t, something something Venkys etc.
  23. I love how Bennett is a glorified mascot. Even the commentator quoted Mowbray for words to that effect. I know Nyambe was injured but it’s shocking that a player of such mediocre quality always finds his way back into the XI.
  24. Relax, we can use the £10m for Buckley next month...
  25. Six of one. Grant was grabbing Lenihan first. Good start but normal service resumed once Huddersfield came to life.
