  1. Doubtful. Buckley’s not a winger.
  2. Since we aren’t privy to things behind the scenes, we have to call it as we see it. Chapman’s had some good games for the U23's and some not so good but is he any worse than those who get picked week in, week out? We have few proper wingers. Having him on the bench at least would give us a different dimension. Mowbray’s usual answer is like-for-like or shunt a striker out wide.
  3. Definitely. Chapman’s omission would make sense if we were a tight ship but Armstrong constantly gives away offsides and hardly tracks back.
  4. I reckon Chapman might make the bench for our FA Cup game, if he’s lucky.
  5. I think Tosin is legit injured. Incidentally, clubs should be held accountable when they lie about a player’s absence. I guess football clubs are one of the few businesses that can get away with misleading their customers.
  6. I'd rather play Holtby in Dack’s role, or as a deep-lying playmaker rather than the inverted-winger thing we got going on now. For me, it would be a flat 4-4-2 Walton Nyambe Lenihan Tosin(?) Downing Chapman Johnson Holtby Rothwell Gallagher Graham
  7. They're on the staff at Wigan. Were they at the Brum game, too?
  8. Armstrong has no football brain. It’s too bad we have no alternative (since Chapman took a trip to Belize), otherwise he’d make a better impact sub.
  9. In and out the team, only 9 starts this season, half as minutes played as Armstrong. It’s no wonder he hasn’t got going.
  10. Even with Dack we looked ass against Wigan. Couldn’t get out of the blocks in the first half and were actually lucky not to lose that one. The problems run a lot deeper than over-reliance on one player.
  11. Is that what I said? Gladwin’s here on a pity contract. Can’t see Mowbray forcing him out the door. Similarly, I can’t see Smallwood leaving unless it’s the right move and a nice golden handshake. He’s too soft for his own good sometimes.
  12. Bell won’t be going anywhere this season. Will Mowbray have the ruthlessness to cut loose the likes of Gladwin, Smallwood and Samuel unless it’s the best possible move for THEM?
  13. Don’t worry, Chapman's gonna be like a new signing in January.
  14. That could work. Having players like Tosin and Holtby building from the back could see us dictate more games.
  15. I thought Tosin's contract was for the season?
  16. I’d rather we’d spent some of that £12m on a few permanent defenders as well as loanees. Tosin on his own wasn’t enough.
  17. I’m not talking strictly about here. Mowbray never gets called out in the press for the lack of defensive recruits. Then again, he gets an easy ride from them full stop. Tosin’s a good addition but we’ve paid x amount for the privilege of a player who’s not ours. If we’re building a side for the future we need permanent signings or at least a buyout clause. I bet you anything he won’t be playing for us next season.
  18. I'd like to see Holtby play a deeper midfield role with a more defensive-minded partner. According to some Spurs fans that was his most effective position for them. It would have to be an Evans type, as you can’t have Holtby and Travis both going walkabout.
  19. Last summer the defence should’ve been our first priority. Despite Mowbray’s assurances that “defenders are coming”, we landed two loanees, which has left us a couple of injuries away from last season’s backline. We’ve blown £12m on two strikers who have done eff all. I’d rather we’d signed a Kuqi or Dickov up front and put the money into a couple of centre-halves and a left-back. They couldn’t have contributed less than Gallagher and Brereton have done. Unbelievably, the former auditioned here and we STILL decided to buy him!
  20. Yup. None of them are good enough. Squad players at best. Mowbray gets off far too easily for neglecting the defence. Our two best defenders this season don’t belong to us.
  21. No team starting Bennett and Bell is getting into the playoffs.
