The manager paid 7 million for him, your rightful critique of Brererton reflects badly on the management and club in itself .He did not get immediate starts.Im going off the stats .He was poor which I agreed in my post but off limited starts and 15,10,5 minutes. He had made 53 appearances for Forest in this division before coming here.
-
He was poor in his cameos but he was mismanaged also. Mowbray paid the 7 million fee for him.He had made enough starts at Nottingham Forest for the manager and club willing to shell out 7 million to know what that were buying. 15,10,5 minutes was doing nothing for him only draining any bit of confidence the guy had left with the groans of the crowd etc. Regular gametime in a settled position has brought his game on.His involvement with Chile has taken his confidence to another level but his improvement started after the covid break .I think his movements off the ball and dragging players out of the box was underestimated in the way it aided Armstrong and we looked a much better side with Brereton in it although his form did dip after he got injured. He isn't an elegant looking footballer but he does look to frighten defenders a little in this division with his power and awkwardness,he wins us a load of frees and I like the fact he is always in the refs ear and he gives it back when he is getting it from the opposition.
-
Mate he didn't start a lot of matches when he joined he was getting 15 minutes here and there 9 starts in total he made that season
-
I agree he looked poor in the cameos more often than not but I'm also a great believer that a player needs a run of games and continuity to show what they can do. Brererton and Buckley look a lot better after longer spells in the side.I think Buckley would be further along if the manager could decide on a position for him and stick to it rather than it changing regularly. In his first couple of seasons you could argue Brererton's cameo didn't warrant an extended spell in the side, but we had paid 7 million for him and even when the season was all but over and just dead rubbers left to play Mowbray still didn't give him a run and continued to play players that weren't even going to be here the following season
-
Isn't Brererton represented by the agency favoured by the Venkys whenever a management change is made? If so would it not work in his agents favour to get him signed to a new deal, you would imagine his agent would receive a percentage of any future transfer fee.The bigger the fee the more the agent will receive. A new contract should have been on the table when he started to show form early last season

Summer transfer window 2021.

It's Rothwell who sees himself as a central midfielder. He wants to play as an 8.When he first joined Mowbray brought it up In many an interview that Rothwell was on at him to be playing centre of the park. Even last season on occasions on the games on ifollow you could here Mowbray screaming at Rothwell to play further forward -
He doesn't do what is right for the club though Gav and many examples of this. Wasting money by giving out extensions to players who didn't play a minute during first covid lockdown. Last season he would have known the situation regarding the soon to be out of contract players yet instead of giving some our younger players valuable experience he kept playing the players who wouldn't be here next season to fix them up with other clubs Those are just two

When Dack was fit we were batting away 15 million bids.It would have taken a bid of 2 or 3 million to take Rothwell from here in the summer yet he is still here. 8 goals in 130 appearances for Rothwell -
If they were going to void the bet they wouldn't have offered the cash out. They can't offer a cash out of half and then turn around and say the bet is voided for the punters who didn't take up the cash out offer
-
They are paying out half now, the bet won't be voided. A sale or injury biggest worry

He was at Oxford before here and when not injured his place in the starting 11 wasn't a shoe in,he was left out in games there too. A better manager/coach might get more out of him as I agree he has the talent but he has to take some responsibility too.His goal and assist record is poor with the quality he possesses. Three assists so far this season is decent though maybe giving a bit more now he is in the shop window? Last season a number of games on ifollow/sky I heard Mowbray screaming at Rothwell to play further up the field and Rothwell wasn't doing as asked. In my opinion Mowbray was correct his dribbling skills need to be utilised closer to the box not going past a few men in the middle of the park and then more often than not choosing the wrong option. I'm no Mowbray fan but if we are going to blame him for Rothwells inconsistency are we going to say it's down to Mowbray that Armstrong went from being a 3 million buy to a 15+ Million sale. -

Overall fault lays with the owners but the underhand things that went on at the club was that not the doing of Jerome Anderson,Sem and whatever other "advisors" had gotten in the owners ears? The Venkys know nothing about football? In my opinion their purchase of Rovers was a marketing tool to get their name known in the UK and Europe. They were led on themselves. Those interviews about leasing players and a 5 Million budget to qualify for Europe. Those seeds were planted in their heads. Like they obviously didn't get into this game to make money, they are absolutely minted and I don't believe signings are made that might make a couple of Million profit for billionaires. They are absolutely terrible owners and have no business being involved in football.Their crime since being here is either letting people who were taking advantage of them make club decisions (Jerome Anderson appointing Kean) or carrying on leaving incompetent people on ground -
The Aberdeen manager confirmed a 500k bid was turned down for Hedges and it was after the Edun deal that bid was made. Not a fortune but shows there was some money. The deal to take Maja on loan with an option was on again further proof there was some funds available. Why would Mowbray and Waggott use being close to FFP as an excuse? It will be down to their mismanagement of the playing budget and Waggots failure to bring in income as to why we would be so close to the limit
-
I do believe we are on the brink of breaking the ffp rules, granted we brought on 15 million for Armstrong but it was with 2 weeks left of the window and with ouu wages to turnover running the way it was I don't see how we couldn't be close to breaking the rules.Plus didn't chaddy put up how much the owners have put in over the last couple of seasons and ffp preventing anymore owner funding? Money has been mismanaged. The owners had no problem paying for Bennets and Mulgrews new deals.No.problem making Sam Gallagher one of our biggest earners and paying a five million fee. I'm not suggesting that the owners would spend freely but up to this summer he has had adequate funding. If the budget had been a bit healthier we would have seen Evans and Bennett with new deals. Mowbray has made some good signings Dack and Armstrong etc but he has wasted an awful lot stupidly. Even though our budget Iimited still feel it's been wasted, the loans might be on the cheaper side but they all add together, they are all similar types.Did we need both Poveda and Khedra?Did we need Clarkson? We couldn't have loaned a more physical type? Aberdeen manager confirmed we had 500k Turned down for Hedges. So there was some money available. But again the people on the ground can't get the deals done. Even last season all the loan deals,we brought in 11 players last summer, they add up.Maybe if he could play with a smaller squad we would have got a couple of permanent signings rather than half a dozen loan signings. The owners give a budget and he works around that budget. He wants as big a squad as he can so fills it with loans.
-
The reason why the budget so low is because of the money wasted in previous seasons.Instead of him using the budget to extend players contracts during the first pandemic (players who didn't play) maybe he should have been asking for that money to be put towards a new deal for Nyambe at the time.

If he gets 15+ league goals this season and keeps us away from trouble he will have turned out to be a good signing. We all worried where the goals were coming from after Armstrong and thus far he has stepped up. The money should have been spread around the squad and we didn't have the luxury to wait for him to come good but he has come on an awful lot and if he gets the goals to keep us away from trouble and he moves on and we get a profit then in my opinion he will have been a good signing. -

We won't be losing him on a free we might not get as much as we should but he won't be going on a free.Club have a years option on his contract. He was the wrong signing and too much money spent on him but has improved a lot over the last 2 years -

Am not trolling I could say you are trolling by calling fans weird for thinking he played well for Chile when you yourself say you didn't watch all the matches.I did watch them and he did more than "just" score a goal. Brererton has been better and shown more than Gallagher in their times here no disputing that -

You don't half like blowing your own trumpet don't you? Cardiff week you posted more than once about you being right about Gallagher because he had a good game and it proved the posters who criticized him wrong. Yet no mention of Brererton by you who got a hat trick.Yet you were posting saying that you "haven't been taken in like other fans because he scored a goal for Chile" and taken in by all the Chilean fanfare
