  1. At the time they bought Scott he was one of the best young midfielders in the division, captained his Club and was keeping Premier league youngsters out of the England under 21 starting line ups. If Rigg goes for anywhere close to 37 million in the summer il be absolutely shocked.Very good young player with massive potential but they won't get that sort of money for him. It's like this people where going mad on here when young Watson from Sunderland was being linked with a move to Brighton with reports it was a 20 million+ deal...it turned out Brighton had only bid 10 million as the initial fee
  2. No need for excuses I can nearly 100% guarantee that nobody will be paying £37 million for Rigg.
  3. I can't speak for anybody else but I have never said we should have taken the offer in January. And I have never suggested anyone has said we could have sold him for £30 million in the January window. My opinion is he would have been looking to move up a level in the Summer anyway if he was ambitious over his career yeah I get he ie a Rovers fan but surely like the rest of us will know the club is going nowhere whilst we have these owners,so I don't see that much more would have been put down we might have got £22 up front or similar but no chance of £30 mill for him after a few more months playing at the same level for a side struggling. Big clubs and the national coaches where missing something with him
  4. It's an insignificant amount for a top club ,who could have paid it without any issues. The comments are "anyone can see it " or "anyone with 2 eyes can see how good he was and we would have got much more in the summer " He had played 12 months of regular championship football, and had not been called up once,so obviously the people making those decisions didn't fancy him enough. I don't care that you don't care about the England u21, its an indicator of how little or big a young player is rated outside his club ,they obviously didn't rate him highly enough like the top clubs(wrongly so ) but the evidence is there he wasn't picked and the top clubs didn't come in for And on your first point I don't think Wharton was having a great season with us last season, moments of quality but our midfield was being dominated most games from December onwards. I'm just of the opinion he needed to prove himself up a level before the fees would have got much much larger.
  5. The comment was "anyone can see it with him".If the big clubs wanted him they would have bought him in January. The general concensus is that Palace got an absolute bargain. The big clubs ain't going to pass up on a bargain in the January window to come back a few months later and pay many millions more. And also the England under 21s is supposedly for the best young players of that age in the country...he didn't make one squad whilst here.Even the younger ages than that he wasn't being involved until he had played at championship level for us whilst Phillips was.Im of the opinion these scouts and recruitment felt he was missing something in his game, that's why it was Palace took him and not one of the bigger clubs. Disgrace we were forced to sell him but there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that teams where going to be coming in in the summer putting down many more millions on the table for him.
  6. Everyone? Then why weren't City , Liverpool, Arsenal etc matching the low transfer fee? Why had he played a year for us but hadn't received a call up to the under 21s? Young Rigg at Sunderland has a lot of noise about him and has looked excellent the times iv seen him, yet Nixon and other media are saying Sunderland were hoping for £20 million but only likely to get 10 plus extras. We where never going to get £30 million for Wharton whilst a championship club
  7. At West Brom they were 5th when he left and only 8 points off 2nd place in february. The change of manager did nothing they ended the season in tenth.Maybe the squad of players wasn't as good as their supporters, journalists and board thought. I'm coming across as an Ismael fan boy, I'm not he wouldn't have been on my radar if I owned the Club. And early signs here are not encouraging but why don't we just give him a bit of time before we rush to any conclusions.
  8. No I don't.Thats my point Did we not just have this with Eustace last season?Yes man...Eusless ...interviews dour putting people to sleep and so on 0 wins in 7 pre the 6 game winning run with 5 of those losses ..1 win in 9 after it with 6 defeats. We lost under Eustace...and had long periods without a win under Eustace, and lost to teams towards the bottom of the table under him. Ismael deserves more than 4 games to show what he can do.If we won our next 4 games I wouldn't be coming on here saying he is the right man for the job.
  9. John Eustace was doing it last season . He has been here for 4 games ffs.People are too hasty writing people off. I suggest you go back and read the john eustace thread from when he was appointed. We didn't win in our first ten.
  10. Or Ferguson or Arsene Wenger Both hardly inspiring in front of the cameras yet 2 of the most successful managers In the Premier league era.
  11. I don't think signing Woodrow had anything to do with Ismael. He has barely played him. To have been in conversations with Ismael,Rovers would have to have known Derby would be sacking their manager and know that Eustace would replace him. If they knew Ismael was going to replace him and where already signing players on his behalf how do you explain the 2 Weeks or whatever it was from Eustace leaving before Ismael was appointed ? We signed Woodrow because Eustace wanted an experienced striker and the club took the cheap and short term option
  12. Last season plenty on here where saying the exact same things about Eustace as they are about Ismael now. Last season Mercer and others where critical over how Eustace was in front of media "dour" "how can players be inspired Eustace has no personality " Multiple posters calling him Eusless....posters calling him a yes man....posters predicting relegation the following seasons under him. Eustace was sacked by brum(harshly so) but jobs became available and passed him by.He wasn't some young hot shot who clubs were fighting over .Even this season he was pimping himself to any job going they all looked elsewhere apart from Derby who were stuck in relegation. Don't get me wrong I rate Eustace ,doesn't change the fact posters were being mega critical of him when he first came in and are saying the same things about Ismael now as they where about Eustace
  13. It was an achievement getting Barnsley to the playoffs. Just above relegation the season before it and relegated the season after West brom sacked when fifth, 8 points from 2nd.They finished the season 10th. He wouldn't have been my choice And its been rubbish so far but trying to take away what he did with Barnsley and downplay it Is ridiculous.Getting them into the playoffs was exceptional.
  14. Like Eustace ? Hardly inspiring in front of the cameras, and he turned out fine
  15. Come off it. Trying to credit Struber with their top 6 finish. Could you expand on that? How did Struber lay the groundwork? They finished just above relegation under Struber and got relegated the season after Ismael left after he had taken them to the playoffs. They played a different style under Ismael to what they did under Struber, they also signed Darryl Dikes under Ismael who was a big player for them when fit
  16. It's Been inconsistent all through the season before the 6 game winning run,7 without a win losing 5 of them and drawing twice, straight after the 6 game winning run no win in 5, 3 defeats and 2 draws. Then won a game...then lost 3 and so on... It has been crap since Ismael come in but it is still only 4 games.Despite the 3 wins in 5 leading up to his appointment it still wasn't an easy situation he was coming into.Zero points from the last 3 games is awful but like I have said previously it wouldn't have shocked me if Eustace was still in charge we had got zero points We have a weak mentality and have had it for years
  17. Sry didn't mean to quote your post Hasta but yes my initial post was worded incorrectly, I meant we have played in patches this season good or woeful form Agree with his comments about promotion and this season but that has come from above. He will have no pressure from above to secure a top 6 position this season If the club was ambitious and really wanted promotion this year then Ismael wouldn't have been appointed. They would have thrown money at a name on an initial deal until the end of the season with big bonuses attached. He was given that length of contract because the club fully believe that we will still be a championship club next season and he will work under the conditions set by them like having minimal say in recruitment
  18. No iv seen nothing. Iv not even said he will turn things round or is the right man for the job My point is 4 games in is too early to be completely writing him off, and using language like donkey, his fault we won't make the playoff. Yes man etc etc is ridiculous at this point, the same people where saying the same things about Eustace when he had no win in ten Again the team has struggled picking up expected wins against teams below us every season, just our record away v newly promoted clubs in the last few seasons can be used as proof of that. Even under Eustace this season Hull and Stoke both towards the bottom lost them both at home.
  19. Where did he say this mate?
  20. ?.Eustace hadn't gone anywhere when Woodrow was brought In.The Derby job wasn't even available. Ismael didn't want Dennis when he was at Watford
  21. Again yeah the 4 games have been disappointing majorly but it's 4 games he has been here...Eustace was Eusless by many at the same point in his rovers career. Ismael is pathetic and absolutely useless because we couldn't win at Derby not taking into consideration we have lost our last 11 away games against newly promoted sides. The graph clearly shows we have had more than 1 or 2 runs where we have lost multiple games In a row.
  22. £1 million very good money for Brittain?
  23. Look at that graph in the 7 games prior to the 6 game winning run 5 defeats 1 win 2 draw, we then don't win in 5 3 defeats and 2 draws ,then win a game then 3 defeats in a row, the squad on multiple occasions thus season have gone runs of games losing .It is not something new created by Ismael. It can't be said for certain we would have won any of those last 3 games under another manager or the previous one
  24. Look at the post from Booth below lots of mini winless runs ,the 6 match winning run is what put us in the top 6 and the teams closest to us had poor form themselves hence us staying in it for as long as we did. We struggled against teams lower than us that we feel we should be winning with other managers aswell.
  25. I can't argue he has looked clueless but I do think there is a major mentality problem (losing i believe the last 11 away games agsinst newly promoted sides is shocking)with our squad which can be partly blamed on lack of clarity from above and so many players only contracted short term which happens every season and the budget we are playing with we shouldn't be up there .Plus look at some of the players after Derby smiles and practically kisses with Eustace he didn't come into easy environment. Stupid contract we have given him but that isn't his fault My argument isn't that Ismael is better than Eustace or he was the right appointment just 4 games is to early for me to be labelling someone a donkey or closing my mind to the possibility that he can get the team playing better. Not saying you but I do remember others saying pretty damning things about Eustace aswell at first He needs to use the international break well on the training pitch ,hopefully our players won't cry if he asks them to come in on 1 of their expected days off
