Interesting sub-plot to England/Croatia - following the victory against Russia, defender Vida and coach Vukojevic posted a video on social media stating ‘Glory to Ukraine’ and ‘this victory was for Dynamo and Ukraine’ (Vida is a former Dynamo Kyiv player). It has been seen as an indirect response to the illegal invasion and occupation of Ukraine by Russia and Russian-backed forces. Vida received a fine while Vukojevic lost his job, and hundreds of thousands of people have given FIFA a 1star rating on facebook in protest. Russia Today’s Facebook feed responded by stating that England will suddenly gain thousands of supporters for the semi-final (despite the political fallout over the Novichok scandal). England/Croatia could be a fiery match indeed...

IMO We only get to the final if Russia beat Croatia.

Martin ‘Tiny’ Taylor had all the physical attributes to be a top class defender, but lacked something up top. Over 100 appearances for us, and had a fair career after leaving Rovers (if you can call Big club and Watford highlights) but never hit the heights we thought he could.

John Curtis was a solid player for us and on the cusp of breaking through for England, but was replaced by Neill and disappeared from view (played for several more clubs, but never fulfilled early promise).

I remember Sergio Peter being touted as the next Duff. Cocked up a penalty in a pre-season friendly(?) and disappeared from view. Still only 31, he now plays in the German 7th tier (Wiki).
