  1. That's a good deal for us. I'd love him to sign a new contract and stay but that's not going to happen, so it's a good deal and a lot of money. If anyone had said a year ago that a club would pay nearly 20m for Breo then I think we would have checked their sanity. Ultimately he's had one good season and the Premier league is a huge step up. Sadly I think he will be a big flop in the Premier League and I fear for Everton.
  2. As the LT are reporting that Rovers are hopeful of doing a deal, I'd say this one is close and will get done. The LT are usually very quick to squash rumours. I know nothing about him but if he's the sort of defender who will add some muscle, head and kick everything that comes his way, and will generally be nasty to play against then he'll be ideal. We're far too soft and easy to bully at the moment.
  3. 5/6 players needed with less than a week to go AND our star player will prob need replacing too. The only rumours I'm reading about are us wanting the two Vans. Hard to underestimate how vital the next 7 days our for our whole season. As things stand, we're bottom 8 - and that's with BBD. Take out BBD and we're relegation candidates.
  4. I wouldn't back us to beat anyone at the moment. We're a shambles. Bradford 3-1.
  5. The alarm bells are almost ringing is a very damning quote from the manager. At the end of the day, it will be him who loses his job if others around him can't bring in players. With the slow pace it takes us to do deals, I'd be shocked if we got 4-5 players in before the end of the window, let alone 4-5 quality additions. BBD's agent has come out today, via Sky Sports, to let everyone know BBD has no intention of staying. To be honest, why would he sign a new deal. The club is going nowhere and he could get a life changing contract by going elsewhere. Good luck to him. Odds on JDT still being here at Xmas?
  6. I said a while ago that anyone who thought Van Hecke was coming back here was going to be very disappointed. There was nothing to be gained from the player's or Brighton's point of view of him coming back here. Why Sunderland? Very simply that they get an average attendance of 30,000 fans at their home games and Brighton need to see if he can cope with playing in front of a big fan base most weeks and the added pressure that brings. Sunderland have made some good signings tbf. Simms looks like a very good player.
  7. Have you seen the past 2 games? It's not the results, it's the performances. We can't defend, we have no presence in midfield, and we have no attacking threat. Add to the mix that the majority of our players can't pass the ball. All the ingredients are there for a team that will struggle badly this season. Don't let the opening 3 games fool you, we were generally poor in those games too imo. Yes, new players will come in but will they be of the quantity and quality we need? Given that we need 5/6 good players and there is not long to go until the window shuts, I think it's unlikely we'll do enough in the market before it closes. The mood on the message board is entirely justified.
  8. I don't blame the manager at all. The standard of players at his disposal is woeful. He's done very well to get 9 points with that squad of players.
  9. We've had some bad players in the past few years but these 2 have to be right up there.
  10. No complaints from me, we deserve nothing today. Gregg needs to deliver or we are in a relegation fight. That's how bad we are.
  11. Better so far but I never feel like we've got enough of a threat to score. Hope I'm wrong.
  12. Absolutely rubbish half. Szmodics and Buckley to come off at HT. The likes of Pickering, Edun, Szmodics, Gally are just not good enough for this level. They cannot control or pass a football
  13. This is unwatchable. Not even a contest. Chase shadows, Sheff Utd attack breaks down, hoof the ball forward, give the ball away, Sheff Utd come again. Rubbish.
  14. Huge gulf in class here. Not surprising really. Keep saying it but we have a really poor squad. I'd love to know what Szmodics offers.
  15. I fear another drubbing here. Sheff Utd are one of the best teams in the league and will win the majority of their home games. Vale and Dolan will hopefully be nowhere near the starting 11 for a while, both are poor players. I'm still not convinced by the false 9 play despite it working in the first 4 games. Interested to see how JDT changes it tomorrow after a horror show at Reading. Five at the back with Pickering tucking in and Edun playing at LB?
  16. I completely agree. We've been poor all season and were going to get well beaten sooner or later imo.
  17. LB, 2 CBs, CM, ans striker all required. We shouldn't let a good start paper over the cracks. We've got a bottom half squad at the moment.
  18. Big wake up call and reminds us that we've got a bang average team.
  19. Apart from good finishing, have we really played that well in any of the previous 3 league games this season? OK nowhere near as bad as today, but our ball retention and general play has been poor so far this season despite the very good results. Much improvement needed.
  20. Horrible half. No fight, desire, or quality. Reading will be kicking themselves its only one.
