  1. I'm not particularly a royalist, although I do respect the Queen and never like to see anyone pass away, but I think it's the correct decision to postpone the football this weekend as a mark of respect for those who are grieving and feel a deep sense of loss, of which there are many. Not to mention the extra pressure on police resources. I think for many the loss of the queen has evoked emotions of loved ones they have lost in the past too. I love football as much as anyone but I think we can cope without football for a weekend or two! Plus, on a selfish note I don't want us to play until we have some key players back from injury 😆
  2. This game almost certainly won't go ahead, and probably not the one next week either. Although I'll miss the football, I don't think it's a bad thing for us. We should have a fully fit squad by the time we next play and it gives JDT a chance to coach the players on how he wants to play football (whatever that is!) after a very poor run of performances. A mini break in the season will help us imo. Obviously get the frustration of fans who have already paid out money for transport though.
  3. It's a tough one with Pickering as you can't fault his commitment or work rate, but sadly he's not got the attributes to be a championship player. He's slow, very poor technically, poor in offensive positions, and not particularly physically strong or good defensively either. The alternative is Edun who is not even at the level of Pickering. Both are lower league players.
  4. I really hope JDT will be successful here but he needs to have a re-think about how we're going to win games on a consistent basis. If he thinks we'll be successful by passing teams off the pitch then he won't last long. At the moment, the way he sets us up reminds me of how Henning Berg set us up. Mowbray ditched the idea of us playing passing football as he knew that wasn't how we were going to compete well in this league. For me, he needs to focus on making us hard to beat by going 3 at the back and putting Trav back in midfield. Tyler Morton, who will never be good enough for Liverpool btw, needs to be dropped. I do fear for JDT. I know many will say its for too early but the performances are so bad, I can see fans turning on him pretty quickly. He looks tactically inept to me so far. I'd say 50/50 as to whether he's here by Xmas. As I've said in the past, I always feel the best managers we've had have always come in and instantly made us much more solid and hard to beat.
  5. I don't think the defence is entirely the problem - there are huge gaps on the transition. That won't change even with new personnel in the defence. I do agree that we're not relegation material, we'll be around mid table. Is mid table championship and getting battered by teams like Bristol City and Reading good enough though? I can accept the occasional thrashing, bet we're getting well beat most weeks at the moment. As quite a few of us have said for a few weeks, the midfield is the big problem at the moment.
  6. Awful, awful performance yet again. I think 0-4 would have been a fairer reflection. If you try and play passing football with average players then you usually get sacked by Xmas. Go and ask Cocu. A club with average players like ours has to be well organised, well drilled, and tough to beat. We are none of those things. Every team is finding too much space between midfield and defence, it's far too easy to carve us open and get shots on our goal - hence 10 goals conceded in 5 games. JDT has us very poorly set up but I hope he can turn things around. I've been very unimpressed by him so far.
  7. It's not at all. Last 5 games: Lost 4 Conceded 10 (and still playing!) Scored 3 Performances abysmal in all bar a couple of games this season.
  8. Pathetic. Worst Rovers team in a few years this season. Absolutely hopeless from back to front. The manager also seems to have no idea what system to play or which players to pick. Worrying times.
  9. Dolan, Edun and Vale brought on to try and change the game. Clueless.
  10. We have far too many tippy tappy footballers and not enough 'soldiers'. We're far too easy to play against. I know JDT wants us to play the European way but I don't feel that is the Rovers way.
  11. Far too open. JDT needs to show he knows how to set up a team properly. Little evidence of that so far.
  12. It does concern me that we're constantly making a couple of subs at HT. Just suggests JDT is not getting it right from minute one.
  13. Our midfield two are non-existent, I think Wharton needs to come off. He looks like a red card waiting to happen too with him already being on a yellow. Bristol have played well but it's easy when there's so much space to play in. Lucky to be only 1-0 down. Hyam has been our best player.
  14. How I would rate our summer signings: Brittain - good signing and an upgrade on Nyambe Hyam - feel like he was our best signing of the summer Morton - decent signing. Good on the ball but I fear he'll get bullied by the more physical sides Mola - Not an exciting signing but hopefully a decent squad player Szmodics - Not convinced by him at all. Think the money could have been better spent Hirst - I would have preferred someone more proven but I think his attributes will add a lot to our team. Overall a decent window but not an amazing one.
  15. I'd give the window 7/10. If we lose BBD in the final few hours and don't replace him then that score would drop dramatically. It's been a tough window for us as we've had to do a lot of business just to stand still. I'd say we're on a par with where we were last season, perhaps just slightly weaker. I think a lot of teams are slightly weaker than last season though.
  16. Sounds as though we're done for the day. An underwhelming day in the end but I think we've done OK in the transfer market overall this summer. Not brilliant, but not bad either.
  17. I think we need one more attacker and then we're done. Probably 2 if BBD goes.
  18. Welcome Mola. Sounds like a good squad addition with his versatility.
  19. Definitely, 15m is not a lot of money for a Premier league club to spend.
  20. What if he gets an injury or loses form? Putting my Rovers allegiances aside, I think he'd be mad not to grab this opportunity. It may never come round again and then you regret it forever.
  21. I strongly suspect that was Diaz's last game for us. The club cannot afford to lose him for nothing and he deserves a prem move. Good luck to him.
  22. Don Goodman said Wharton's debut was one of the best he's ever seen from a young player and he's not wrong. The guy is going all the way to the top. He's like signing a new £30m player! Also, there's no way I'd be sending out Carter on loan again. He's ready for championship football. Hyam had an excellent debut alongside him. Without doubt our best performance of the season so far. Even the games we've won previously this season I felt we'd not played that well, but tonight we were far superior to Blackpool. Let's hope for 2-3 signings tomorrow and another victory at the weekend.
  23. First time I've seen Wharton - top class. Hyam looks exactly the type of defender we need, a no-nonsense type. Carter has looked good too. Dolan just doesn't offer anything at all. He needs to come off and probably shipped out of the club. I think Blackpool will score so it depends on whether we can add another goal or 2.
  24. I didn't see the game tbf but he's not a defensive midfielder, is he?
