  1. If we sign Douglas, which it looks like we will, this transfer window has to go down as one of these best we've had in a long time. The problem positions have been filled with quality, experienced players and we've added a couple of exciting young players. Anything lower than 6th place will be a disappointment this season.
  2. Tough game today, a draw was probably fair. Cardiff are a bunch of cloggers - but they're very good at what they do. We had one very good chance in each half but that was it. They created absolutely nothing apart from a fine save from Kaminiski in the first half from a Hoillet shot. Williams and Johnson were immense. They've been outstanding this season. Williams is unstoppable at the moment. Bell had one of his best games in a Rovers shirt. All of our best attacking players didn't get a look in really. Fair play to Cardiff on that. I've seen enough already to strongly suggest we should expect to finish in the top 6 this season. We are actually pretty good and the league is quite poor. It will be a failure if we dont. Our squad has come along way. There would have been no chance in the past of us competing against the better sides in this league with several of our best players missing - Dack, Lenihan, Travis. But now we're actually stronger than those teams even with those ilk of players missing.
  3. I think a back up GK is probably more pressing than a LB. If Kaminski gets injured then we are left with Fisher who is nowhere near ready for 1st team football. He would cost us so many points. Bell is shocking though, so we simply have to bring in a LB even if it is on loan. Personally I think TM is holding out for some money from the sale of King and possibly Raya. If that doesn't materialise, then I think he'll dip into the loan market.
  4. All the signs seemed to be positive with lots of well connected people saying a deal was done.
  5. I don't understand why no journo didn't directly ask the question after the game today "What happened to the one that was due to give us a decision on Friday".
  6. Fantastic performance today. I think 7 or 8 nil would have been a fairer reflection of the gulf between the two sides. Everyone was excellent, but Dolan was the pick of the bunch. He could potentially be the bargain signing of the summer in the whole of the league. Arma has become such a top player that you just expect him to score every game. Bradley Johnson and Rothwell also shone. Very promising but I have to say I'll be surprised if there's a worse team in the league that Wycombe.
  7. It's strange that TM himself said we were 24 hours away from getting an answer on a new signing...and then no mention of it all today.
  8. Are you claiming to be an ITK? It has a pulse until it's a done deal. Same with Kipre last week. You don't need to be an ITK to apply logic.
  9. Ayala? I don't believe a word of it I'm afraid. Someone creating the rumour because his move abroad hasn't been announced yet. Yet more people trying to claim they are ITK when they have no idea at all.
  10. Still speechless as to how we lost that game. Unbelievable. I didn’t think the individual defenders did a huge amount wrong, apart from Bell who is playing in a league above his level. I thought the GK, Nyambe, Lenihan and Williams all did fairly well individually. I think the problem is there’s very little protection from the midfield. That’s a side effect of the pressing game we play, we are left wide open if a team bypasses our high press.
  11. Classic Rovers. Lose again on the opening day and concede 2+ goals. Yes, lots of positives in the performance but being the better team and still losing and conceding 3 is not good enough.
  12. Brooke’s and Billing not in the starting 11 is good news. A good team but nothing to be afraid of.
  13. I wouldn't count Cunningham because he barely played for us, we're about par in the left back position. Central defence is definitely weaker, Tosin was fantastic. GK you have to think will be stronger. Downing was class but I doubt he would be able to hit the same levels again this season at his age. You could argue that the return of Dack balances out the technical ability missed by Downing going. And Holtby and Evans missed big chunks of the season. The others we lost make no difference at all. Central defence and LB the big weak areas.
  14. Nah not good enough for us imo. I'm pleased we didn't go down that route.
  15. Interesting, I hadn't realised he didn't play much. He always looked like one of their best players to me. Gibbs-White is one of the stand out signings of the summer in this division. But overall they'll still be weaker.
  16. I think this is a good game for us to start with. I'd much rather start with a game away which we're expected to lose rather than a home game against a newly promoted side at home. Not convinced by Bournemouth at all. I think they'll struggle a lot this year. Very much the start of the downward spiral for them.
  17. That's a huge below for them losing Celina. They've lost 3 key players now in Brewster, Van De Hoorn, and Celina. Ayew will prob go too.
  18. I missed that. Have we missed out on a target because they want to see us show more ambition? I was more thinking that this was the player that wants to come here but his agent is demanding too much.
  19. Presume the foreign player on a plane over here was Schmidt (sp)?
  20. Unless it's about us being close to signing some players and/or our best players being close to signing new contracts, I won't bother reading it!
  21. A lot of 'experts' predicting that we'll win. Have to say, I have no idea who will be in their starting 11. Will King play? Brookes? They've lost 4 key players already - Ake, Wilson, Ramsdale, Fraser - and will lose King and Brookes before the end of the window too. And, most importantly, they've lost their manager as well who performed miracles. I actually think we'll break our opening day hoodoo and win this one. I also think Bournemouth are in for a very tough season and their manager will be gone by Xmas.
  22. If we sign a good left back and CB, a play off place is realistic. The weakest this league has been since we were relegated from the prem. A real chance if we can get some good defenders in. Breo and Gallagher will be better than they were last year, and Dack is back soon. We should score quite a few goals. Fail to sign to sign any decent defenders and I think we'll be around 12-14th.
  23. Stating the obvious but it's almost certain we'll be starting the early part of the season without any reinforcements aside from our new GK obviously. In that case, we have to go with a CB pairing of Lenihan and Williams IMO. The absolute key signing was a GK so thankfully we have got one of those in. I would dread to think how many soft goals we would have lost if Fisher had to start the season in goal for us. As it stands, we are staring at a lower mid finish in the league. Personally, I think we'll see Liam Lindsay end up here as our main CB signing. TM is known admirer and he'll be within our price range.
  24. It's difficult. You either go for decent players and put your hat in the ring for them and hope they 'buy into the project' as TM would say. However, those players will also likely have offers from other clubs who can offer a better package, therefore there's a good chance those targets will fall away. The other strategy is to go for players that are a level below the top targets but with a higher chance of those players actually signing for the club.
  25. As much as we crave transfer stories, recent history shows we only find out about a signing 24 hours before it actually happens. I don't think anyone has the inside scoop on what is actually going on.
