  1. After JRC I'm not game to write any player off! However things aren't looking great for Markanday right now and you have to wonder why we got him.
  2. Very harsh Jim, very harsh! I'll give the whole lot of them next season. If he tries to take us on a 5 year "journey" I'll be on to him Chaddy or no Chaddy!
  3. Its crazy! we could finish 5th above Millwall and storm back into the Premier League or finish 12th---well below last season's 8th under Mowbray and with fewer points. Absolutely nail-biting stuff. However you can't continue to lose or draw regularly and not expect the chasing pack to catch up. We are out of form and seemingly out of ideas at exactly the wrong time. Yet, looking back at this season and last, I feel much happier about this one whatever the outcome. We do look like we are finally getting it back together, there is heaps of potential and we have lots of highlights to feast our memories on. In the end the admin will have cost us, assuming we fail, rather than the players. The squad needed strengthening in key areas and it wasn't. Let's have 2 decent strikers and continue to develop Leonard, let's sort that midfield out and we'll be knocking on the door again! Better times ahead.
  4. They haven't the guts to challenge the managers and staff and the crowd screaming for them to blow the whistle when their side is ahead. Or perhaps they haven't the support? Still think this should be determined by a 4th official and the ball should be in play for 90 minutes.
  5. We had an interesting discussion a week or so ago about time-wasting. I can't remember the actual topic so I'll put it on here if that's OK? Coincidentally, great article on it in today's Guardian. Average time for the ball in play in the Premier League----54 minutes, 22 seconds. Shortest game this season-- Rotherham v QPR. The ball was in play for 44 minutes!! Interestingly Rotherham played in the second shortest game at Birmingham. In another game one of their players was booked for time wasting--- in the 30th minute!! https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2023/apr/17/for-140-years-time-wasting-has-afflicted-football-and-there-is-still-no-solution
  6. Its not "funding" its expenditure. Millions wasted because they didn't know what they were doing. They are now paying a fortune to keep the club going at the level they brought it down to with no end or resolution in sight. This can't go on for ever. Will the generations of the future have a Blackburn Rovers to support? Whose fault will that be?
  7. As has been said, they got £16M for Armstrong and spent nothing---no replacement. You can't just pick one year out of 12 and conclude they've done well. The only way they will ever get their money back is for Rovers to be promoted but they don't seem worried about it either way. What use are they? There is no plan for steady progress just sporadic effort every now and then. We could be like Brentford now, it didn't take them this long. Brighton were in the Div 1 when we were an established Premier League team. Burnley have gone up 3 times, the second 2 with parachute money but not the first time. They simply got the right manager and backed him.
  8. They haven't been losing money because they've been spending too much on players! There are many reasons why they've lost money but basically its because they are clueless and should never have got involved in football. If they continue to cut back on player recruitment then they'll lose more money, we'll have a squad of under-19's, get relegated and then they'll lose even more money. But much more importantly we'll lose our club.
  9. Did Ayala score one? Certainly wouldn't have been a forward!
  10. One horse died at the 2nd fence so I'm with you on that.
  11. That's what I'm taking away from this season too. We have been in the top 6 for months whereas we only crept in every now and then for a short time under Mowbray. We also had good cup runs for the first time in years. We have a solid platform for next year provided we have 2 successful transfer windows of course! I really don't think we'll make the 6 now with that fixture list. The 2 games just played were the easy ones and we've flopped. No reason to think we'll sort out Coventry, Burnley and Millwall!
  12. I've lost count of the number of "must wins" that we don't win!
  13. In any case, if we manage to scrape last place in the 6, we'll go into the play-offs with the worst form of any. The points thrown away this season--makes you weep. The only thing we have going for us is our game in hand and you can say that since we have to play Burnley we might as well not have one!
  14. There were a host of similar. The penalty given to City at Easter, the penalty awarded to United at old Trafford against Southampton when Utd were losing to name 2. We definitely didn't get a fair deal that season.
  15. Well of course but on that day, at that particular time we owed our Premiership to Ludeck and Cole, neither of whom played for us! The team that did play for us were a bit ordinary that day.
  16. Not purely in my view. Ludeck made some great saves that day but Cole missed some absolute sitters. If he'd been in normal form we never would have won the Premiership.
  17. Thought the same, a bar set as low as it can get!!
  18. Darwen not local enough ?!
  19. He's also reported as saying that when he got here he realised he'd made a big mistake. However he was good value in his time at Ewood.
  20. Norwich are very much like us. Pull the rabbit out of the hat when you fear a loss and stumble when the games look simple. They also miss loads of chances they make. They probably should make 70 points as you say and our aim must be to get to 71 at least.
  21. Why don't they have any pride in the state of the stadium, or the pitch for that matter? Why do multi-billionaires resent buying a few cans of Walpamur's best?
  22. Loved the one Cole smashed in at the near post. Needed a lot of confidence and skill that one. What a player Tugay was! I honestly feel that if he created those chances today we would miss them all!
  23. Our first goal at Huddersfield for a start. Great build-up and sublime finish! Would have graced any Premiership game.
  24. People also forget that the person the Trust chose to evaluate the best bid was also working for the other side!
  25. Yeah dead right. Brentford----the perfect response to anyone who thinks you can't prosper in the Premier League unless your owners also own a nation and your stadium holds mega thousands. Even the likes of Burnley, Watford, Bournemouth etc have done better than we have.
