  1. According to the Premier League, Tugay had 14 assists in 233 games.
  2. Given the quality of our strikers, is there anyway of finding out how many chances each of those players has created? I don’t disagree with your thinking, It would just be interesting to know.
  3. I agree on Foakes, I think his batting average is solid enough and he adds to this with his skills behind the stumps. Did you have a name in mind for the solid opener who can dig in? Joe Root’s innings shows you can have someone scoring at a ‘traditional rate’ and the team can still score as quickly as the coach/captain is wanting.
  4. Transfers outside of the windows are at the discretion of the Premier League board - I guess it’s just far more likely they’ll approve one for a goalkeeper. Squad lists changes outside of the windows require the permission of the Premier League board I’ve just been reading up on the rules! 😀
  5. People will suggest moving Root up to open but we’ve seen that experiment fail - he is a natural number 4. I guess he could come back in as wicketkeeper - but I think Foakes is much better with the gloves. Sorry Jim, I meant to quote your last post
  6. Just short of 1,000 runs in 12 innings in the County championship last season too. I wonder how, and if, they’ll fit Bairstow back into the team.
  7. The rules do allow for changes to the squad list at other times (outside of the transfer windows) but only with the approval of the Premier League board. I doubt 2 injuries is a sufficient reason to give this approval, and so far the Premier League seems to agree.
  8. I hope this isn’t the equivalent of doing a ‘Mercer’ on a match day thread😁
  9. 315 - 3 at the close of play - Root 101 n.o. Brook 184 n.o. Checked the score, thought that’s very good but slower going than recently - then realised they’d only been 65 overs in the day!
  10. There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know. Donald Rumsfeld Nope - no such thing as unknown knowns
  11. ‘Back in the day’ we could still sign players in March - we did so in the premier league winning season.
  12. John Motson RIP https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64742833 just noticed this is on the main message board
  13. That’s because Jack Walker had a vision for the future but also respect for history and heritage.
  14. Were Wigan’s injuries anything to do with the pitch?
