  1. When 3 rd party ownership was mentioned on here back then it was often shot down in flames but it came to light from that the club was actually under investigation for it. Nothing else has come to light apart from confirmation Kentaro did actually have a contract to run it from day 1 which is bad enough. It still seemed back then very much like a joint project by a big group of people with the Venky name over the door. I remain convinced that for a while at least other investors were on board and whiff of joint ownership was thick in the air for a while.
  2. He got a few stories out of it so i'm sure he's happy but fair play he's obviously not that devious. If he was he could have ended up a director with a nice pay off at some point.
  3. Agree and i suppose age might be a factor some of the replies seem more the knee jerk facebook group type. To imply people are hating on Evans because he had his face smashed in and might not quite be the same is a bit of an insult. If he ends up second half of this season in a midfield partnership with Travis or someone and he's playing well week in week out and we are winning nobody will be complaining. He'll be getting the plaudits and a new contract and we'll be reaping the benefits. Long term though we'd likely be having these same conversations this time next season and that's the whole point in regards to that player. The midfield needs shaking up and changing permanently because as is proven odd little spells aside his type of player doesn't actually help our defensive record nor creates or assists virtually anything.
  4. Nothing that most didn't already know and not much more meat on the bones i'd love an off the record version. Main thing that jumps out from that was how quick this MB was to suss out the Kentaro running the show angle and how long it took the penny to drop everywhere else. I'm referring to people not ITK as well it was obvious to a blind person what was going on. Also the Samba scenario and the Barclays ten million i'm sure we had people on denying the real reasons for all that. Interesting about the transfer of liquidity limit i don't recall that being put forward as a strong reason for the taps being turned right down on here. It was all FFP or they aren't wealthy enough really or of course punishing us for a snowball. Probably the worst nonsense ever pushed on here and that's saying something ?
  5. Definitely only one of those who pops up after a win. Then trawls looking for something negative to highlight.
  6. The term hate really needs clearly defining on here for some. If someone doesn't particularly rate a player going off what they've been paying to watch for years it doesn't automatically mean they hate that player or person.
  7. People's opinions on Evans are mainly football related and based on the last 7 years. He isn't a bad player on his day but it's time for the team to evolve. That means moving people on especially in a position that's being increasingly well covered and has badly needed a real upgrade for years. He's neither good enough nor fit enough on a regular basis to be in the side. That's before any on the NI stuff. Most of the posts are reasonable enough and the same things have been being said for years. Nobody is picking on him because of his bad injury. Virtually everyone expressed dismay and sympathy at that at the time. But of course the regular MB protagonists chose to ignore it and focus on the negative. Let's give him another 2 year contract then so they can sleep at night.
  8. Never been down there was scheduled to go in the cup that early kick off when i think Samba made his debut. The night before got out of hand though so i missed the transport. Think we won quite comfortably but i don't think this one will be as comfy we are often useless just after these breaks. 0 - 0
  9. What an apt day for that to come around 10 years on Friday the 13th, a true horror story for any long standing fan.
  10. Agree but i think Mowbray operates with all this in mind hence the number of mids he's collecting. There's more to it than tactical rotating he's carrying some to compensate the regular absentees. Look at Trybull he's just Evans mark 2 but probably not even as good but he's there i think to cover Corry. We all know Tone will play along with the international stuff as well so wouldn't be a surprise to see him keep Evans, not his money after all. We do seem to have a policy of signing these types and probably because it makes them getable to the likes of us. Can't be any surprise when at any one time there'll always be 2 por 3 missing with just knocks and strains. Plus this seasons workload and summer time off puts extra strain on it. Nobody can help that. The insurance policies must be high at Ewood though.
  11. The lowest point in a tidal wave of lows Dunn looked like he was enjoying it though ?
  12. No room for sentiment if you want promotion and lathering another good contract in his direction goes down in the sentimental section now for me. He's been unlucky in many ways but he's been lucky in others like being at a club happy to coast along mostly whilst being one of their highest paid. If he's a third choice midfielder on money reflecting that fair enough but it doesn't really work like that here with the rotating.
  13. Yeah it seems more about throwing a protective arm around your pals than digging out the slackers.
  14. I had to laugh when Mulgrew was on. I don't know about big dressing room leader and all that because the only thing he says is 'aye' !
  15. I don't think he's always faking injury but he's certainly ' declared' himself for a few time for NI. Obviously means a lot to him but carrying players should be a thing of the past here. Some players will always bend the system so it takes strong management to get a grip of it. Hopefully that's what's happening here although I'm sceptical on that.
  16. His comfy existence here should be over now step up to the plate club before country or go elsewhere. Let them pay you 15 grand per week to be carried for internationals. I mentioned something on the Rovers twitter feed after he'd been pulled by the club and it triggered a load of Irish responses. Most i presume not Rovers fans and they just could not grasp the club before country line at all. Oh he only plays for midtable championship side anyway was the jist of it. Somehow i think he's mostly had the same mindset. Said it a thousand times but that is exactly the attitude here that needs to change from top to bottom.
  17. I'd certainly have Watford, Brighton and Palace in the same bracket as us. Or rather we should be were they are. All comfortable mid sized Prem clubs although Brightons crowds are a bit misleading. They are the Hull of modern times. 5 seasons back in the champ as a club going nowhere they'd be struggling to get 15k regularly imo.
  18. That's were his priorities have always lied, keep fit and get paid by a midtable championship club. Manage yourself around your internationals. Sooner he's gone the better his injury record isn't going to get any better as he gets older now and we are signing players just to cover his absence. Enough.
  19. Katie Price has a lot to answer for when you see shows like that. She made it cool for a generation of young girls to aspire to fake tits, potty mouths and the barbie lifestyle, thrown in a celeb BF or two if you can find them. As it goes that Olivia at least seems to have a sense of humour and doesn't take herself too seriously. Hearts in the right place when it comes to him by the looks of it. He seems like a nice lad a bit naive but he lives in a whole different world to the rest of us. Any lad who says he prefers fish and chips mooching across a shitty Blackpool beach to flouncing around posh eateries in Dubai is alright with me !
  20. He was said to have no symptoms so isn't the isolation a bit less ? Doesn't say much for our testing procedures though and god knows how many it might have been passed to on the way over there. Just shows what we are up against but the world will have to find a way to live with it.
  21. A lot will say similar about Brentford i bet, clubs are usually where they are on merit and deserve to be there. We all expect the name Blackburn Rovers to be amongst the leading lights at least in the Championship. For me though these days it's more to do with the backing and facilities we have compared to Luton etc not just the name. That winning mentality being drilled into the players is the most important thing it can get any club a long way installed into the right players.
  22. Has he moved into politics ? On the 'opposition' bench ?
  23. Yes there's been talk of 3 year plans and stuff after the great reset - relegation - so we are in the later stages of that now. Covid has come along and thrown a huge monumental spanner in but i don't think it can be blamed for everything. The progress though is there to see in terms of signings and pasting some teams we often struggle against. Similar patterns are still there in terms of weaknesses though and muddling about with line ups which many rightly feel is this managers achiles heel. Maybe there'd have been more signings or some big fees spent again if it wasn't for covid that must have made a difference to the budget. I'm not comfy with that though with Mowbray he works better under tighter constraints as we've seen. Also as PhilipL has mentioned the current situation can benefit Rovers a bit more than other clubs although it's hard for everyone. We rely on almost completely on owner funding all the time so the lack of income will impact much bigger turnovers worse you'd assume. Credit to Vs for standing firm on all that but it just adds to the weight of the managers backing. Somehow though i expect the 3 year plan will suddenly turn to a 5 year one in the near future when Steve & Tony get to spinning their yarns. Probably when we are in the middle of a one win in 8 run with a near full squad in Feb !!!
  24. I'm not sure Downing will be on a lot less if any to be honest as didn't he turn down the first offer ? Sounds a bit like he has his price and TM has said we can't go any higher at the min but if there's enough left after the window we'll come back. Other targets fell through and they maybe saved a month or twos wage which made it doable to make him another offer.
  25. That's their 3 points its replaced Wigan away as the annual surrender for us. Although we could be heading there stronger than we've ever been in recent years. Could be a big statement a win there.
