  1. If only Gallagher had the same knack of piss poor but scores goals.
  2. Keegan got promotions though and had a good stab at the Prem title with his style so lets have it. The key is keep at it even when you suffer the odd pasting and keep getting players that fit it. Too many changes and swapping about for it to ever happen here i think.
  3. Hence the inconsistent tag, that's not people slating him it's just pointing out facts. And nobody expects strikers to score every week but his pen miss and good chances missed the other night were costly so he was always going to get a bit of grief. Mainly because he had a very poor game all round. Thankfully he's paid it back today.
  4. Nope, just inconsistent and not up against the best keeper in the league today.
  5. Not the worst place to be but yeah that's what i was thinking. If we can start grinding results out against the strong middle pack ones then we won't be too far away.
  6. Multiple changes might bite us in the arse today. Some were needed and looks a decent side but could be a bit disjointed.
  7. Just like in the transfer windows TM is very good at changing the narrative as the season goes on. He knows how to play the game.
  8. I hope those who constantly refer to budgets as if it's the bank balances playing each other and how we've no right to be competing with some clubs fully expect a win today, against a club thats no right competing with us on those terms.
  9. Best to rest him he seems like another of those who'll need 'managing' through the season. We should still be capable of getting something tomorrow they can't start hiding behind the odd injury to a good one all the time now. There's a squad there now with people to step in.
  10. TM is also the best backed gaffer under Venky's when all things are taken into account. So whilst we don't have a top of the table budget it'll be one of the better ones in that middle pack over the last few seasons. Time to push on.
  11. Doesn't like it up North i don't think but if you're going to do a project on the pitch to get promotion in a 3 year plan he's the type you'd be trying to get.
  12. I don't think i saw Moran play for Rovers without some sort of bandage or strapping about him. Must've cost them a fortune in pre match pain killing injections.
  13. Certainly wouldn't really call him an old bloke in management terms he really should be at his peak now. He does often cut the figure and come across as someone whose wind has gone from his sails though but again that's just judging a book by its cover. Anyone itk will say he works extremely hard but i think at times he may have been concentrating too much on the backroom stuff building up the inside of the club. He seems to have a real appetite to be seen as revolutionary in that area but on the pitch it's often looked like play it safe and go through the motions. Look after the squad and put a lot of responsibility onto his seniors and pals and hang others out to dry. Hence the pension pot jibes, just keep plodding season after season until something either drops in your favour or the owners finally get fed up. To me he's not the type who'll jack football in if he leaves here no matter how wealthy he'll be.
  14. Same things were said about Armstrong early on last season when he was starting every game. Just another of those players who's body language doesn't always look good. He's a forward though and one's of his type just want balls to run onto and can't be arsed with anything else. To me he's always looked more happy on the left of a 3 not lurking about up top on his own, needs dropping to the bench tomorrow then unleash him. Usually seems to do the trick but imo we really do need a central striker from somewhere. Bad run ends tomorrow and a little purple patch coming up just to get everyone giddy again before Tony puts the blockers on it. Coventry 1 Rovers 2
  15. Likes of him and DG are the ones who nick that one chance in tight games or when you're playing shite. That kind of thing is badly missing with us. It sometimes seems we win well or we don't win. Some called Rhodes a flat track bully only scoring against weaker sides mainly. Well not much has changed if that was the case. To really get anywhere we have to start nicking tight games and turning games around when we are behind. Not just against the good ones either. I agree this putting your stock into goals from around the side and ignoring the need for a reliable solid central striker is flawed for a team like us.
  16. 3 games v Cardiff, Forest and Watford yeilded 1 goal so it might be fair to say it's not a raging success. I'm quite confident we'd have nicked something out of one of those games with a Rhodes or Graham lurking about.
  17. Don't be silly he'd still score more than anybody else if the formation suited but wouldn't fit how Mowbray wants to work now. What i was pointing out quite clearly is we had Rhodes then replaced him with DG but now there is no out and out striker or target man in the squad. We need one. Armstrong will get goals but last night highlighted the difference between someone like him or a Rhodes/Graham.
  18. Yep it's not boxing nobodies scoring points for passes connected. What's happened last 2 games is a constant theme we can't see tight games out and we go behind we nearly always lose. These are the things that need ironing out and what the new possession based game was supposed to help with. Plus we need a proper striker, Rhodes, Graham...... Arma is not that man.
  19. My guess is that's the way he's being coached, possession based remember. It's evident throughout the team.
  20. Harper, Payne are another two, parent clubs were Prem clubs at the time and world away from where we were. Our very own BB can surely be filed under that as well.
