If he's going ok, getting games and notching a few leave him where he is. A full seasons football will do him more good than sitting on a bench every week. I'd prefer us to get in experienced back up at RB and CH.

No the midfield was piss weak game after game teams played through us the gap between Rhodes and the 2 deep lying mids was two thirds the length of the pitch. There was no Dack floating in there aimless balls coming back into midfield the majority of the time were picked straight back up again by the opposition.

Players out of position
tomphil replied to Nelsonthedog's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
You'll get away with the odd one and sometimes you just have to shuffle the pack so TM is no different to any other in that regard. However some of the stuff this season combined with the new 'style' has clearly held the team back you don't have to be an expert to see how unbalanced its been. Also just signing players on the strength they can do a few positions will catch up with you eventually i think we've been a victim of him having too many options this season. Trying to make 5 go into 4 doesn't work the best most functional settled 11 must always come first, not constant experimenting or trying to accommodate. -
Bring back Bobby Mimms.
-
John Keeley seemed a very good keeper coach the drills he put on pre match were like a full training session. Who was Souness and Allardyces keeper coaches ? Was Mimms still around then ?
-
A novice keeper coach won't help but let's be honest the main issue has been a chronic lack of good recruitment in terms of keepers going back years now. Not helped by the penny pinching in defence either, Raya bucked the trend a bit but he was a novice himself literally learning on job. His great reflexes covered for that up to a point but he certainly looks like he's growing into it now. If you have money to spend and can stand a decent wage there is no excuse not to try and be as strong as possible in one of if not the most important area of any team. Ever since Steele they've wanted keepers they can get cheap/promote grow and sell on for a profit. So far it's failed miserably, time to wise up although Walton is probably on loan with a view to buy given who his agent is and he fits the criteria. That's the real underlying reason behind not investing in someone decent you can bet on it.

No surprise he's just found another gear as December approaches, its most welcome hope he keeps it up but it's something we've seen many times before. Lets hope we keep getting some points on the board before he gets a move or loses interest again, whichever comes first. The money from him will cover the BB.SG and AA signings and i'd assume the bankers who allowed those had that in mind. I don't think he's unhappy here but every player is ambitious and they'll never turn down big pay rises offered by others.

Who would we like to get in the FA cup draw?
tomphil replied to Hank Moody's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Not bothered about this at the min i'm more excited by the recent up turn in form and team being set up to play like a team. Don't want anything to spoil that so i'd prefer a low chance of winning but big day out somewhere. Spuds is a good shout or Arsenal again be a nice time to play them. Otherwise a lower league team at home, cheap tickets, second string having a run out and a good chance to progress without denting the league form. -
January transfer window 2020
tomphil replied to GunnerRover7's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Any keeper he signs will probably be seen as back up to Walton i'm convinced he'll end up here on a permanent come summer. -
Neville ?
-
I'd have Mowbray down as more of an Only Fools and Horses man to be honest ?
-
Similarities in that second goal yesterday to some on that clip of us tanking Barnsley about 30 years ago that popped up on here recently. The crisp quick direct passing forwards. Maybe they've had it on loop in the canteen at Brockhall ?
-
Balls in front of him and him running onto things, an attacking athletic striker rather than an out and out target man or Rhodes type poacher. No point people judging him against those he's a different kind of player altogether with different attributes. The manager signed him so it's up to him to get the best out of him and play to his strengths although i fear he's been signed to be multipositional every bloody week. Him replacing Graham as sub in games is the best way to use him for now imo although he more suits the counter attacking style than anything else. He can serve us well used properly utilising what he has.
-
As Tony Mowbray realises he was making a pig's ear of it. So returns to basics and something resembling a 'team'. As advised of course by the genial patrons of BRFCS ?
-
Well yes if he's up to it but maybe a short term loam then introduce him later in the season.
-
Bedding in period that's all......
-
110 percent correct. He needs proper back up anyway and let Bennett do what he's actually good at i.e backup for right side, right side centre mid.
-
10 goals i predicted this season, it's still on.

Got it right again today although it isn't rocket science, team plays well wins leave it alone. Best thing in regards to him today for me was the subs, changes at the right time for the right reasons, fatigue and a knock. Players in the right positions and some basic stodgy at the back counter attacking away from home. No silly needles changes, tactical messing about, and subs for the sake of it or to be nice to someone. We've seen how it should be this week with this squad doing things the way it suits them. Play a higher tempo at home, keep square pegs in square holes and be sol.id and counter attack away. That's all you need in this division it won't always work but neither will an alien style of football or constant swapping changing players and tactics. Stick to what the players know and they are comfortable with and we'll move forwards finally. I'd hope the penny has dropped but going off the recent past it'll be a purple patch we should enjoy before things start getting muddled again.
-
See what can happen when someone gets away down the wing and gets the ball in quick. Again not rocket science but missing from our game far too often. Bread and butter stuff.
-
One of those crazy championship days today looking at scores around the country. Mad mad division.
-
OOOh AHHH ...
-
Don't bring on the weakest player in the squad unless there is no option.
-
Not sure they look unfit because they genuinely are i think it's just we play such a pedestrian game normally you'd presume that's how they train. Then the other night they play at a higher intensity for 90 odd mins so are naturally unused to it so still look leggy a few days later. Train as you aim to play is the key, same under Bowyer that's why we only ever got or will get one big performance every 5 or 6 games. Higher levels needed to get anywhere similar to the recruitment of the right types.
