  1. The shopping list should be pretty much the same as its been for the past 3 years which says a lot. Are defenders coming this time ? Or the experienced commanding keeper ? I'll confidently take a punt right now and say we'll sign no one ?
  2. Maybe there is more at play with him who knows. I sometimes think Mowbray thinks he's setting up some kind of football rehab centre at Ewood with his 'human angle' talk. If we look at some of the punts he's taken on unfit, already injured, prone or other types of problems. Gladwin, Rodwell, Rothwell, Chapman, Caddis to name a few of the ones we know about and we are yet to see one fully work out unless you lump Dack in with that lot of course.
  3. He wants 2 points per game, a tall order for anyone but we've been on good runs before and if he truly believes he has a stronger side than last season then it should be doable. However i'll chalk it off as just more bold words to appease the indifferent start until it's proved different. I think he's a safe 1.5 points per game man over a season, every season and i don't see that altering even if he signed Lionel Messi.
  4. More busted than TM was ? or Coyle, Lambert ??? Our shopping is done down that alley i'm afraid when it comes to managers.
  5. You'd like to think he'd start at the back he'd have a totally different remit here than there and perhaps they could afford slightly more exotic punts. Half that amount has already been wasted here on one player....sorry potential player or substitute in real terms.
  6. I wonder what Mark Hughes would've got with the 15 million Mowbray has committed the club to up front ?
  7. Repayment in 4 years on low interest and needing god knows how much per year to service it and actually run the club from league 1 income and valueless squad ? Just another stop gap by the sounds of it but they'd very little choice i'd wager. What is it all secured against i wonder.
  8. I think in the case of Nyambie he's got the young player scapegoat treatment last season but they gave him a new deal before he went away to the International tournament in case he had a good one and there was a potential buyer. Either way he's gone backwards although he'd flat lined a bit but young players do at certain points. Both him and Bennett should be playing second fiddle to a proper right back i think that's a given in most fair minded fans eyes. Sadly we don't do things that way at Rovers we mess about, juggle about and try and fit square pieces into round holes constantly whilst splurging millions stocking up the bench with non scoring strikers. A loan away for 6 months would do Nyambie good if he got regular action i think but then god knows who he'd stick as back up right back.
  9. Agree apart from the Buckley bit although it seems he's down for the guaranteed last 15 min sub this season whatever is happening similar to Brereton last season.
  10. Wharton is our version of Todd Kanes Chelsea days i think ?
  11. Even we got excited about some signings when we were under embargo and still giving championship contracts to league 1 dross. It's the hope....
  12. Leave the badge alone the red rose of Lancashire must stay we are true Lancashires No 1 team and that reflects it. The BRFCS version is quite good but we must never stray too far away from how it is now imo. I swear they could put a blue and white chicken on it and some would say it was good and modern ?
  13. All that points to him being frustrated by lack of first team opportunities by the sounds of it, it's about time he had some.
  14. Any opposing manager looking at a side who managed a solid midtable finish last season and have since signed good but ageing championship names like Downing and Johnson and have 'invested' c 15 million in strikers in the last 12 months should really be the one looking at Rovers and saying 'tough game' as well.
  15. Lets not accuse people of blaming Mowbray when they haven't mentioned his name. Don't we have a coaching team ? Don't we have a recurring theme of conceding avoidable goals under this coaching team and manager ? Don't we have a manager who's said he wants us to retain the ball more wherever possible this season ? Why has Cunningham gone from looking like a good steady left back to a hesitant shaky one in the space of a couple of weeks ? Isn't this defence coached and told what to do by this manager and his coaching team ? Why numerous times yesterday did defenders hesitate instead of just clearing or tackling ?
  16. Agree and whilst i understand they want to keep possession a bit more it does invite trouble not many teams 'football' their way around this div as other sides know if they press and pressure they'll cause problems. Too many average players who aren't comfortable doing it i also find it a ironic they adapt this style which needs a keeper more involved on the edge of his box etc when they've got rid of the guy who was supposed to be good at that and replaced him with a bigger unit supposedly to command his 6 yard box. More arse and elbow thinking !
  17. I fear they are being told not to commit and try and get a foot on the ball with this alleged new style of keep ball play instead of just winning it or clearing it first time. Far too much needless dawdling about at the back yesterday for some reason.
  18. I said after the Hull game i wasn't keen on Armstrongs body language he looks lackadasiacal at times and for Mowbrays systems to work properly you just cannot have that. A wide strikers has to be a hardworking striker but Gallagher aside they all just look like strikers stuck on the wing who aren't comfortable with it.
  19. Keith Hill, good move for them horses for courses manager like when they got Parkinson to get them up, totally different remit for Keith but probably best man for the job at the moment.
  20. This ? Absolute piss boiling it is but he can't help himself never has and never will be any different it's his way, his method. His style is to have no style and no unchanged sides all because he's a forward thinking manager who likes to fox the opposition but can't seem to get to grips with how much it foxes his own side at times. You can count the good first halves we've had under Mowbray in his entire time here on one hand or certainly not much more yet if i'm not mistaken when we have done we've tended to see it out and get a result. Today probably scored to early if that's possible it seemed to shock WBA into life yet it was somewhat gifted so otherwise it probably would have been the usual slow start, probably would've suited us better going off recent games though.
  21. Same old same old, very Bowyeresqe as in if his main men click they tend to get us a result but when they don't it's just same old same old nobody else tends to step up often enough. Also the defensive boogeyman returns after a couple of clean sheets, again no surprise at all.
  22. The one thing we've always had at Rovers in my time is a good solid no 1 with at least a degree of pedigree and who's had a good/great rapport with the fans. That all stopped after Robinson and lo and behold no surprise it's never got back that way since this lot and their friends turned up, another BRFC tradition they've inadvertently ruined. Raya might have developed into one of those but that soon went tits up so after about 5 years or so of no good reliable regular keeper it's about time collectively they pulled their fingers out and delivered one.
  23. I thought the main reason for the audits was to see where the cash was going and stop any unaccounted for drains ? There could well have been a subsequent set of basic recommendations made but not sure about a strategic plan being followed to the letter it just seems a tad optimistic. Whilst it was buying a young player with alleged potential investing that sheer amount on one guy with Brereton doesn't equate to much sense in my view it more points to bad advice again. If they'd signed him, AA and another for that combined it would've pointed to a better 'investment' model i think.
  24. I suppose it would've been similar to Bolton like what regulars they might have lost from the Burnden area over the years they gained in newbies from Horwich and Adlington.
  25. They indirectly got Lowe that's enough payback for Frandsen and Blake for now.
