  1. Not always best pals me and Jimbo but if he is saying that stuff then I think it speaks volumes about the BB situation because if not he'd be all over people putting 2&2 together and maybe getting 5.
  2. Good job some weren't around in the days of Jimmy Quin or early days of Jason Wilcox if they are crying about a few moans and grumbles in the BB direction hell fire those guys got roasted at times by certain sections of the crowd. BB reminds me a bit of the early Wilcox in a skinny can't seem to put a foot right kind of way but what Jason did was get his head down and graft and he at a young age developed skin thicker than a rhino. I'd suggest BB and those seeking offence on his behalf do the same and quickly. Ben doesn't have to be a worldie no one is expecting that but whether he, the manager or anyone else likes it or not he IS a 7 million pound footballer and will have a contract and lifestyle to match so what he needs to do is get his head down and at least graft for the 10 or 20 mins he's actually asked to do something. You need confidence and bit of support to play good football but you don't need that to run about a lot. What he needs to do is try and win people over and justify his cameos when other people are left out in favour of him, i'm sure that doesn't go down right well with some in the squad ! Personally I think people should stay right off his back but definitely direct all questions about Brereton to Mr Mowbray I really feel his handling of it, the signing and the use of him on the pitch is poor but it's up to him to get something out of the lad or drop him for a while.
  3. A bit like Bowyer before him I think all things considered i'm not a massive critic of Tony's signings up to now but I am perplexed at how he uses a lot of them. But he has had some money and a bit of freedom in the market not hampered by embargo yet Dack aside the mainstays of the team weren't brought in by him which is a bit worrying.
  4. Very true but as wrong as it seemed they being actual midfielders did contribute at times but it's nonsense now and leaves the team with no balance when strikers play there. Like a lot of other things we got away with it a league below.
  5. Fans will be blaming fans for this before long you can see it coming, the excuse book will be being written as we speak so I agree it's time to leave him out for a bit but I fear he's on every week to be justified in some way.
  6. Norwich bring Jordan Rhodes off the bench every week whilst we bring on Brereton ! If we'd paid nowt for him hardly or he'd come through our academy you'd just view it as they are streets ahead of us in financial terms but when the fee, alleged add ons and contract get thrown in for BB that excuse flies out the window.
  7. If Samuel was fit he'd be starting out there as well ! It's pathetic really it's creating a problem when there needn't be one, we moaned about Bowyer at times playing square pegs in round holes but I don't remember him playing strikers on the wings every week !
  8. It's embarrassing now. Remember the cameos the likes of Derbyshire and Paul Gallagher amongst others used to produce at a much higher level and consider non of them went on to be greats or worth big money when young but all in all had decent careers. Then consider this lad ?
  9. Once a Dingle always a Dingle, by the sounds of it the club have stood by him long enough so let him go and count his fingers and toes elsewhere it looks like he's blown it here.
  10. I agree, used instead of Brereton the same way he's been used this season would build his fitness and confidence and imo would offer a darn sight more to the team. Won't happen though.
  11. Chapman all they ae doing is being generous and handing him a lifeline to go out and prove his fitness with someone else. Only worth the gamble if you get him for nothing on a very cheap contract to begin with otherwise it's just chucking the type of money away on a player no one else ever would, we've been thee before.... No more crocks !
  12. Sadly he's loped about the pitch at Rovers looking like a tank out of gas since he's been here so hopefully they've been sorting his head as well as whatever else. This team could sure use some muscle and height in it.
  13. A few hundred left out of 1500 sounds a far more likely scenario.
  14. Translated - Waiting till summer then the money from Dacky less the 7 mill and the black hole money might leave us with two million so spend on someone to play out of position or 3 squad men to sit on the bench whilst we give these lads who've kept us up another chance ?
  15. I'm astounded we've shifted that many boxing day or not, recent years we've struggled to take 500 over there due to prices. Fair play although a bit of the old West Brom spirit needs to be more common otherwise clubs will continue to take the piss.
  16. I reckon this lad might have gone from about 3 grand pwk at Forest to c10k pwk here on a four year deal is it ? plus whatever from the fee. When you don't want to move but you are 19 that kind of thing can swing it it can also take the edge of the desire/development we've seen it countless times. That's a football problem it's not a Rovers problem although we've certainly suffered from it a lot under this ownership. I really think this was some kind of knee jerk signing with a bit of over selling whispering in ears thrown in with the words big quick future profit mentioned a lot hence the way he's being used. Funny how our own good youth players or one or two of TMs more lively summer recruitments aren't afforded the same privilege as this lad with guaranteed mins every game despite offering sod all back, why don't we develop them in the same fashion ?
  17. Rhodes will haunt us with a late winner I fear, if he's available. Rovers 2 Norwich 3
  18. It's a fair argument but the balance is somewhere in between is it not ? No one wants to go down the Murphy or Best route again I think they've actually realised that's not the way to go now. Two of our best and most experienced reliable players came via big wages and long contracts on frees whilst the best quality player we have came in for less than a million before add on's and was under 25. Surely that's the way to go for a club like us and if you are going to commit huge money go for some quality however the expense is packaged up - in terms of fee/wages/length of contract- to add straight on to what we have now. No need for boom and bust a plan over say three seasons is fine but i'd say there are good young players out there very gettable and affordable on fees and wages who are more akin to the Dack model than the Breretons who'll give a good potential return a bit quicker on and off the pitch. There is every possibility in 3 years time we'll still be waiting for Brereton to blossom he'll still be young but c10 million quid is still tied u in him that might have made a big difference to the team in that period invested a bit more cunningly.
  19. We hope it works out but in no way can this be dressed up as a 'sensible approach' it's an expensive calculated gamble is what it is. Most transfers are gambles but if you have someone with a bit of pedigree then you at least know what you are buying. I'd say buying a player like Rhodes paid for in a similar way to this alleged deal was a sensible approach he started paying his fee back straight away. It only got silly with him when they almost doubled his wages. This is nothing more than a punt on something that might never materialize because it wasn't really there in the first place. We have to have one mystery per season at Ewood so this is the present one, won't be long before there's something else.
  20. Spot on about the possibility of the syndicate type thing betting on players future transfer value. I'm sure some involved with Southampton and Liverpool have cleaned up in recent years. All part of footballs myriad of legal scams.
  21. It should hopefully work out better than the c10 million each including wages etc 'invested' in the likes of Best, Etuhu and Murphy ! A crumb of comfort.
  22. Not sure but i'd say we've a better squad to bolt the right players onto than them so the starting point is better. It's all in the recruitment obviously but generally players got from down there have served us quite well so far.
  23. Academies churn out lads like that by the dozen these days the rules of the game have beaten out real characters over recent years. Opposition players would rather hug each other.
  24. Spending 7 million on several of the best proven players from there under 25 would have held as much merit as 7 mil on this kid i'd wager.
  25. Would a part time Leeds fan be so desperate to get in he'd pay forty odd quid to sit with away fans ? Then again.....
