  1. We always seem to get bullied at Wigan it's another club and set of fans that always get revved up for Rovers but we are too powder puff at the min anyway we need some solid players dotted about the side. Last season though Wigan were stronger and more aggressive than us throughout the whole season that's why they won the league couple with the fact they went out to roll teams over whereas we like to ponce about too much.
  2. Yep it was poor and Bell was supposedly signed because he was quicker and it seems like Mowbray wants to swap them around according to what they'll be facing which I don't really buy into. If you get yourself a decent steady left back you leave him in to deal with whatever he comes up against week in week out he should be good enough to cope. Bowyer did similar messing about with the RB position whilst Spurr was mostly left to cope at left back when he was fit. Leave one or the other in position and let them get to grips with it although I think both Bell and Williams struggle at this level.
  3. Said last night Williams these days looks like a centre back trying to play left back.
  4. He's got to get to the bottom of why they are suddenly strolling around like they haven't a care in the world. He does need to start with the man in the mirror in terms of tactics etc but whatever is set out whether they are comfortable with it or not there is zero excuse for lack of application when they are earning 10/20 grand per week.
  5. Yes we want the full unedited version.....
  6. There was a passage of play at one point where Mulgrew won the ball stepped forwards several yards then just turned it sideways despite options. It then went backwards and sideways again until we were in our own box nearly robbed by a Wigan player, similar happened several times yet we were 2 nil down ! Playing unurgent keep ball around the back at two nil down it was casual beyond belief yet Mowbray sat there looking blank, does, Mulgrew run the team ? He should have been being roasted for that type of thing.
  7. A more spirited performance but I fear more of the same here unless the frailties are covered over and one or two step back up to the mark. Rovers 1 Wendies 2 14,335
  8. Around 8 thousand fans have gone to the last two away games in the space of a few days, that's a big deal for Rovers we aren't Leeds. Being rewarded with confusing selections and tactics and two gutless displays by virtually the whole team they deserve better, not the results loses happen to decent sides but the whole manner of everything else. Not good enough despite stepping up a league there isn't 7 goals to 2 difference between the likes of our lot and Wigan and if you look at players contracts I bet there's plenty daylight between what most of our lot are on and the others. If Tony wants to play his tombola every week I suggest he goes to the nearest fair or whatever but get back to a settled team and formation he isn't confusing the opposition he's confusing his own players. Weed out ALL underperformers and have a word with them whoever they are and present them with the option of the bench if they don't buck up. Lose at home in a similar fashion and a roasting from the terraces like the Doncaster game might be coming, that didn't do them any harm. Lots have been rewarded with shiny new contracts now though after promotion from a league they shouldn't have ended up dumping us in anyway and all this seasons bar seems set at is to plod to safety, dangerous mixture that, a comfort zone being created in place of ambition.
  9. Maybe rumours of zero investment in Jan has disappointed a few but going through the motions is something that can be aimed at most of then in the last two games as well as the manager trying to create something that will never work with what he has at the moment. We've only really got one or two artists but where the hell have the soldiers gone ?
  10. Nobody cares we've moved on we've just been beaten by a bigger club than PNE so we are moaning about that tonight whilst you still celebrate your cup final win.
  11. We know over cooking it and fiddling when not needed is his achilies heal he'd be a real top boss if he could control the voices in his head. However he's more than capable of getting it back on track again so it's a question of return to basics get a result or two and leave the bloody team alone when it does.
  12. Mulgrew was pants on the ball tonight, hesitating when people are showing ad making runs up front and just turning it sideways and backwards when in space putting us back under pressure. Aimless long punts to nowhere when no one is moving. About time he started putting club before country as should Evans seeing as both are on cushy new contracts as are a lot of others. Mass complacency setting in but this is what happens when you set the bar low we've been here before.
  13. Williams recently has been playing like a lumbering centre half deployed at left back !
  14. It's a total carry over from the Bowyer days the bloody obsession with starting two defensive mids all the time that basically just sit in front of the back four and invite the other side on. We've done good counter attacking away early on but been sussed now as pointed out so we offer nothing it's putrid at times and needn't be. Could understand if we kept keeping clean sheets with that approach or grinding out wins but it proves costly just as many times as it actually works.
  15. You can count the good first halves under Mowbray on one hand it really is annoying now and when you get up against a strong side we struggle from the first min with the approach we have. Was the same last season but Rovers were mostly strong enough to weather it or grow into it and hit back if behind, think that'll prove rather hard over this season.
  16. Even Brown proved a handful at times, couldn't hit a barn door in fact he was one but everything was about Rhodes then. Having similar but better to him would do a job at times in this team putting it about and creating space for others or coming on defending from the front later in games when we are winning. As you say at this level every squad should have one big lump for up front in league 1 some only have 1 striker like that to rely on so finding an improvement on someone like Brown shouldn't be that difficult. Think they had Samuel marked down for a role like that this season maybe so when he was ruled out they should have got in an adequate replacement short term.
  17. Enough of the Coyle clown pants wumming lets get back to arguing about who to sign ! If we could only bring 1 in this window it'd be a target man to help DG and Dack. If there is something in the Brereton can't start until officially signed and then TM unleashes the well hidden beast up front then it would have to be a pacey wideman but as it stands....striker over 6ft all day long !
  18. It was around 1.5k on Monday I think although don't reckon tonight was ever destined to be a huge turnout but you'd have expected 2.5k or so really.
  19. Game plan was scrambled conceding so early but he did set up with an attack minded line up imo but it was disjointed a looked designed to counter with the ball on the deck. Can't do much else with no target man when you try and contain the opposition there's no outlet, he got it wrong but Preston to their credit got it right, all this try and flummox the opposition didn't work on the occasion it probably presented them with something easier than they were expecting.
  20. He must be a Prestoner they have many dual club fans it seems ! Mentioned it before but a guy Preston born and bred used to come into the local with his two kids all with PNE shirts on on a Sat evening for something to eat then they'd all turn up for Super Sunday as it was the day after in UTD tops when they were on telly. And he hated Rovers to boot, odd odd bunch.
  21. I just think he might have been someone they'd looked at over time and maybe enquired about but thought it was a no goer then all of a sudden he became available at the last min so they dived in without too much thought just to grasp him before anyone else did. Someone must've advised someone higher up that it was a good idea to get the go ahead, the reasons would be multiple but certainly improving the team this season wasn't one of them which is odd given the amount of money. Maybe Venkys were desperate to make some kind of statement, get a bit of publicity and flex a few muscles but only wanted to do it with this type of signing so someone has brought it to the table. I don't believe for a second TM himself wouldn't have wanted 7 million or a chunk of it to bolster the side straight away !
  22. Spot on about Brereton I don't think it's dodgy but could go down the somebody advising somebody line and Mowbray has gone along with it. Nothing has convinced me from the get go that he was a target of TM it seems like something that just cropped up and they went for it quickly. This lad is still at the development stage and as I've said he'd be better still getting some U23 games under his belt or even going on loan to league 1 as mad as that might sound. If he was still at Forest or had come through our own set up chances are that's what would be happening. As I've argued before if he really isn't physically ready to make a decent contribution, Mowbray has more less said that, then we should've had somebody who could and leave this one to develop slowly or left it alone. Some somewhere will be hoping to make a good few quid quite quickly on this lad after getting him on our books that's why he's here !
  23. He's probably done for now due to age but I think Tommy Spurr was better than Williams or Bell.
  24. Blackburn Police say hey Rovers there won't be much bother but we want you to restrict North End to 5000 or so tickets. Blackburn Rovers say no chance we want as many Preston fans as possible packed in the away end !!! Blackburn police say ok 12 o'clock kick off it is then..........
  25. Coyle is a bum a typical football mercenary who probably thanks his lucky stars everyday he was able to stay on the gravy train as long as he has. Level is lower Scottish standard he somehow massively over achieved in dingleville an opinion held even by their lot. Very quickly found out when he did his judas act and went to Bolton and again their fans had him sussed pretty quickly but he had a pass for a while being a popular ex player. Some of the tales from ALL his clubs about his coaching methods and lack of prep ate embarrassing in the modern football world. Clown !
