There is a touch of the old groundhog in Mowbrays approach to games at Ewood and it's been said before our style like that is better suited to away games so he really needs to shake it up a bit. Gung ho is reckless obviously but we do need a bit more of the bull in a china shop approach at times instead of waiting all the time to respond to what the other side does on our own patch. No bother with the higher profile games when the players are already up for it but these are bread and butter and they shape the season. More than enough to win it though so it gets chalked down as one of those games .....again. I'll take a draw today though if it means we beat Preston in a few weeks.

I wonder how many of these still whining about people on the pitch CELEBRATING PROMOTION were chanting 'on the pitch' or even trying to get on it v Wigan in the infamous Kean game ?
-
There is however one plus point to it just dawned on me - it would then allow Rovers to charge top dollar to the visiting fans like the JW stand !!! That seems the logic behind Villa, Leeds, Boro moving away fans to side stands over the past few years. Might be some method in your madness lol Would also then be able to cut down on away fans to avoid bother whilst still raking in decent takings from them. The thousand or so who sit in the riverside might need some convincing though.....
-
5 thousand Leeds or Nobbers etc in the riverside with that walk way and exits is asking for bother plus the influence they might have on their own team would probably be more than when they are just packed in one end. Blackburn fuzz would never allow it anyway.
-
Sheff Weds aside, which like Villa park can be both intimidating or eeire, like you say I think it's the size of Ewood makes it worse. 5k empties in one lower tier I don't even think the Wendies manage that.
-
The idea of moving the cameras to the riverside was supposedly so the ground looked better/fuller on the beam backs to Pune probably because the empty riverside they were glaring at before was an uncomfortable reminder of the damage they've done. Now it'll look even worse with banks of empties to the left to match the sparse JW lower DE side when the ball is in that half/end. Probably thought 3 or 400 would go straight in there to make it look better but as everyone knew they would they've just blended into other areas around the ground aside from a regular huddle of about 50 in the corner. Yep a totally pointless balls up which probably save a couple of grand per season if anything at all.

Some of the ST's are decent value and competitive but ridiculously cheap ? No not really certainly not given the area, probably at the low to average end of the champ. We all expected slightly better home turnouts this season but rovers getting 15/16k averages at this level usually means a very good season and good visiting support boosting it i'm afraid. A glance at the history books will tell the story, exception maybe being the Kidd/Souness championship years which were 5 mins after we'd been Prem champs. The walk on prices for any decent oppo and messed about ko times do nothing to help the numbers.
-
The suits got away with shutting the BBE upper but they are making a balls of this one I bet money they let Sheff Weds have all the lower but on Sat it'll be another huddle in the upper and a soulless cold empty huge bank of seats in the lower again. There could have been over a thousand in there over the two sections and like in the past at least give a little bit of atmosphere and visual effect if they'd just left things alone. Why is it so difficult to just leave things alone for most games. clueless they are.

Apart from that dismal spell way back in the day when football was on its arse in general and many bigger town/city based clubs also got small gates I think per head of population our home support will stand up to anybody's especially in this area. Given the up and down nature of a club likes ours I think that's fair enough although very annoying when people flock from nowhere then disappear again but that's the nature of the beast for this club.

Preston fan a couple of seasons ago after our visit there - " You've always had a shite away following never been as good as ours infact you've never had many fans even when buying the Prem. You're a similar club to Bury in real terms " Same fella this season on hearing we might sell out - " Bandwagoners coming back because you're doing well thinking you're going to go up just like you did that time when Lambert turned up then you all eff'd off again under Coyle. Bigger fanbase than us but all part timers " ! God love em, strange bunch ?
-
Sell out on the cards, just shows what the good old 3pm Saturday fixture still means in these parts. Put that on tv at dinner or tea and we'd struggle for that many in total ! Up yours SKY and co !

We are heading towards December so the feelers are being put out again from somewhere, he'll probably be linked to about 5 clubs before the window but it's only likely to be West Brom who make a concrete offer again. He's gone quiet the past few weeks performance wise so they have to try and keep the numbers u somehow so what better than a non existent huge interest from Spuds..

Listening to the outstanding candidate was bad enough anyway but jeez just imagine him after a few bottles of red.....

Long term prognosis for his pro football career isn't looking good at all poor lad.

You can never tell with the Vs if they'd back it or not certainly not with big signings but there always remains possibility of decent loans they'll sanction. Personally i'd be more inclined to think BB is signed up to fill the inevitable Dack void it's been alluded to in certain quarters and by Mowbray himself. Obviously he must have a different formation in mind but I don't see them shelling out big cash again on a player yet. Sooner or later there'll be a 15/20 million one out and in will step Brereton until he's ready to be cashed in. Maybe they'll shell out again in advance to replace him in a similar way but I think this might all be part of a new plan to run things and keep some money coming in to pay the bills, they've speculated to accumulate this summer for once. Not really a bad plan if it works and the money can at last be termed investment but a hell of a lot depends on this signing to get that ball rolling.

I think that must have been the crew that turned up in Blackburn to a gig at KGH a couple of years ago I remember reading about some football related aggro from that night in the paper. Think they got scuttled then as well ? Strange bunch Preston.

He a least looked more comfortable out wide than any of the other 'strikers' who get plonked there and although mostly ineffective he seemed to add a bit more balance to it, but again that was league 1. P.S. 5 extra points for you when chaddy likes the post ?
-
500 QPR fans in one side and 3-500 home fans scattered about in the other at least used to give a bit of life to that end of the ground and a tad of atmosphere when they banter or the team is winning corners there, better than an empty soulless huge bank of seats. Whilst it had died away in recent years i'm sure the home fans in the home half of the DE still just about covered it's costs over a season so it's all been a bit pointless so far. Having it closed makes no real visual impact on the rest of the ground.

Armstrong has pace and that bit of winger like style of pushing the ball past a man and going after it head down that's why he gets selected for the wing. Samuel kept getting shunted out there god knows why but he was useless but it did mean there was a bit of extra height on the pitch in our side for set pieces I suppose. Antonsson was a natural left footer so he could at least add a bit of balance and he had that knack of getting in and pinching the odd goal otherwise he was largely ineffective. All this though in a league below so we could get away with it. BB is just getting put wide to get mins on the pitch there is no other logical reason other than part of his learning curve but he should do his cameos up front from now on like yesterday were he does at least look like being a bit lively.
-
Let's hope he keeps it up when he gets his new deal signed and sealed as unlike in the past a slip back to Evans MK1 on a regular basis shouldn't be tolerated when we have other good options.
-
Decent performance by Leeds the pie eaters aren't an easy lot to beat, the travelling hordes found their voices and made a difference. Never used to have anything against Wigan but now after last season and their obsession with Rovers I really enjoy seeing them beat ?
-
Even if not you never know which way it'll go with such young players which brings us back to the BB fee I suppose.
-
Blatant dummy spitting as well, it's the way these days to jump straight on what was said not ask why it was said in the first place.
-
Don't rely on Chorley to anywhere at weekends or you'll be sorry !
-
Chapman was a good example, different style of player obviously but used similar and just a kid but you could see something there, something that if not injured would have made Boro ask similar money to this deal if Rovers wanted him. But you could clearly see something....
