Glenn Hoddle

Some fair points which I agree with although I think the bit about having miniscule knowledge of eastern philosophical culture is a bit bizarre I mean come on how many members of British joe public do or would you really expect to do ? Most people are concerned with the toil of their own daily lives not with what other rather unfamiliar cultures believe or don't believe about karma or life after death etc so to offer that as some form of defence for his daft comments is a bit weak. Totally agree on the press aspect though we know how they work particularly in regards to England managers who are very easy targets and obviously help sell papers. -
No just a smart arse ?

Agreed Don't get me wrong as someone who has a family member who suffers from what he was alluding to i'd have ripped his head off his shoulders at that moment in time but at the end of the day once calmed down it is what it is, just a dumb comment. He isn't the first nor last religious brainwashed celeb. -
He can fly home to the moon and back if he wants because he does the business, besides he lodges down here with some others ?

It was a stupid ill judged thing to say but at the time I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he hadn't meant it to come out that way but he should've kept his daft beliefs to himself. However in an age where we have to tolerate hate preachers and the scum that follow them standing on street corners in capital cities spouting their filth and do nothing about it yet railroad others for saying poof or pikey or whatever in jest I can't help thinking it shouldn't be held against him he isn't evil he just has odd beliefs. Always thought he's a great football person though and was a good manager. Get well soon Glenn. -
Well it's a more positive sign than commuting from near Nottingham or living in Cheshire to be near the flash night life like a few of our signings over the venky era I suppose.

600k house at the age of 19 would suggest there really is a lot of 0's in this deal ... ?

WBA VS ROVERS - SAT 27TH

Chaddy all day long for me, I think you are being far to generous to Coyle there even dingles say he pulled off a fluke at their place with other managers players before he showed his true colours. I've yet to meet a Bolton fan who whilst they might not hate him due to his playing time there has a good word to say about his performance as manager. Only difference between him and Kean in managerial terms is he actually had a decent playing career experience to call on. -
A big lump of a forward would take the pressure off a lot of them in certain games and he'd provide an outlet to aim for in others plus maybe the added bonus of man marking other sides big lumps when we defend corners. The way we often play it's amazing our squad doesn't contain a guy like this, it would also allow BB a bit of breathing space to just continue coming on out wide for the sake of getting mins.

Remember it well it's just another of those games from youth that stands out above others, Garner probably one of the smallest on our team went in goal for quite a spell I think. Made a few saves and I think Hendry dived in amongst flying boots to force home Rovers goal, only about 6k on but the place went bananas and the atmosphere was unreal in the BBE. That like yesterday is the kind of raw drama that makes you just continue to love live football, some present day kid or teenager will probably remember that West Brom game in 30 years when most have forgotten it ! -

Who'd have thought a 1-1 draw at West Brom would provoke such reaction ......? Good job we weren't the side at home failing to beat opponents with a midfielder in goal for the last 10 mins or so ! -
Credit to Fury opening up but I still think there is more to it all than meets the eye and I don't see why his two year back dated steroid ban gets swept under the carpet when every other fighters gets brought to the fore......... Anyone who's suffered from genuine mental health illness or knows someone who does knows you can't just switch it on and off. Self loathing and self abuse does often follow when someone knows they've severely made a mess of things and it is odd in his case how the min that ban ended and the prospect of ten million quid opened up again he suddenly felt better than he'd ever done ! I also don't think mental illness should be used as a marketing tool they way Frank warren has with this, another obnoxious toerag. Anyway whatever has really gone on it is good to see Fury fit and well and about to fight at top level again after all the noise he's made about it for the past three years, no hiding place now and despite my dislike of the guy he's a genuine chance v one trick pony Wilder although I do think his time out and overhype will probably catch up with him in the later stages of that fight if it gets there.

Personally I understand it from both sides, club and fans, we all want the same thing - bigger gates but we all want good enough revenue to help run the club. Right now i'd look at the walk on prices just for certain games with the aim being fan re-engagement in some biggies rather than just maximising takings from those one offs. Little things like trying to get say the Wigan game back to 15 quid at both grounds, try something like £20 in the BBE lower and Roverside for the Bolton/PNE fixtures. Target the games people want to go to most and where a big crowd would be guaranteed. 22k+ potential at those two with a bit of imagination even if we all aren't doing that great. Can't see PNE filling it this season as it is and Bolton might be as little as 2k visitors so get the place filled up for some proper derbys again these games sell themselves at the right price.

Correct. Although some baffling stuff but I think TM went to keep it stodgy first half keep it nil nil then open it up in the second, it served us well last season though at times it probably didn't need to be done that way. Different gravy in this division but today is another day team spirit has got us away unscathed rather than tactics and quality and you need that over a season. Going one nil down away from home isn't the Rovers disaster it has been in recent years anymore this lot are capable of finding a way back we need to remember that. -

TM is going softly softly with him and I understand that, he knows what he's doing although i'd prefer his cameos to be in his proper position. Got to remember he's probably filling in the Samuel role from the bench although not offering the same positional options as DS but that's down to Mowbray he dropped a bollock by not bringing in another proper big man imo. Would BB be getting so many mins if Samuel hadn't pulled up ? Not sure he would however at some point Tony will chuck him in the middle when we least expect it and he'll score an equaliser or last min winner and bingo he's up and running and there might be a completely different outlook on it overnight. Fine margins. -
Very competitive ST's but walk on prices designed only to A) Make ST's good value B ) Maximise revenue from the away fans and hardcore walk ons

Maybe under the new media handling guys at Rovers they can start up the official message board again ? It would certainly give a home for those who only want to see things through blue and white rose petal glasses and leave the realists and hard to please to carry on posting on here as most have for years without having to apply for a license to raise any questions about the team, manager, signings, tactics, club etc etc ! There is a reason that board ended up flopping in the first place though .. ?

That's why he's here i'm not sure I buy into the long term investment model with him I think it's more about a quick turn around in a couple of seasons. That can be the only real reason the Vs have been persuaded to sanction this. As said before if he comes really good there's silly money in it if not there's still a chance of money back in a season or two bearing I mind it's instalments etc so no way will 7 million have been shelled out if they sold then. If he just plays a bit part this season like he is doing then scores ten next season the ball is rolling.... -

Surely asking a young striker supposedly full of eagerness and energy to chase, close down and hassle from the front is not that difficult and actually giving him the opportunity to practise that important side of his game ? He's copping out with those comments because Dack is pretty useless at that as well when he's left there against a couple of physical centre halves. We've seen similar odd stuff with Antonsson and Samuel though it's what he does but you have to say it rarely works to great effect he just seems to be using his squad for the sake of it at times but there's not much option when it doesn't actually contain wingers. -
Which means we should've free'd him pretty quickly..... He was actually still a physical solid ball winner but he was Murphyesqe.... legs all but gone.
