Darwen End Closure / New Singing Section
tomphil replied to pk1875's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
There's been quite a few incidents of small scale bother both outside and inside the DE and not to mention stuff being chucked back and forth. The club and authorities are more than happy to see the DE enders scattered about hence why they've kept schtum and not encouraged a proper gathering in the JW lower, fact they've needlessly moved the away contingent right to other side backs this up. The OB will have been behind this along with the cost cutting you can wager. -
It's a fair point but to me it comes back to wages, JW had to overpay to get and keep some good players in the Prem and since then us being able or prepared to pay beyond our means has been both beneficial when done correctly by the right people and our undoing when not. TM & Waggot will learn that persuading some players here will take matching a wage they can get at maybe a less illustrious club and money wins all day in football. Their labours will continue to prove fruitless unless they have a bit of room to move in that dept. Really should start by getting rid of non contributers and loaning out those who you might be able to better for now like the Samuels and Nuttals it might be the only way to build.

I love Rudy I think we all do but the lad is a lower level Any Carroll in more ways than one plus you really can only play one way to get the best out of him. Would be a fantastic option from the bench but you'd never get your wages worth in mins from him.

Very cheap tickets in the main adult range following on from quite reasonable or average ones at Ipswich for a Southern club should ensure another decent following of around a thousand. I fear a defeat here but maybe a more open game will suit Rovers, however.... Hull 2 Rovers 2

Those horrendous new kits don't do the players who aren't naturally lean any favours at all and i'll stake a house on it neither are over their fighting weight so to speak, Mowbray wouldn't stand for it. Dack is built that way and DG has bulked up a bit as a target man type adapting his game because his body won't let him do the graft and the run the channels like he used to. I'm more worried about having to rely on just these two for the main goal threats all season without any striking backup of any real championship pedigree.

Same with Evans and Lowe, same will Willowe etc etc it's long been a bugbear of mine and in this division I feel its been one of the contributing factors to holding us back when we might have done better. About time we dug out a proper centre midfielder from somewhere especially if there are funds, a freshen up in the type of player in there is long overdue.

Very true, we used to have an 8k hardcore many of who weren't always active but now it's 12k most of who have remained active since the Venky / Anderson & Co circus began so credit where it's due. Some of the rest though .... meh !
-
Around 14k have forgotten Rovers exist again between the last home game in May and now, that's some going and it isn't all down to price. Annoying !
-
Nixon in shooting from hip to try and explain something he knows nothing about to make himself sound ITK again shocker ! Now it becomes even clearer why the FUD chief was so supportive of Kean/Coyle etc... he's a billybullhitter just like them.
-
Spot on. All to often TM has the cautious approach when stepping on the gas a bit earlier suits our lot better in an attacking sense but you always get a good response when we concede, they suddenly become fearless.
-
You're right here but we've been crying out for that type of striker for years and you can only assume Mowbray isn't keen although there's not many about like that. It seems the era of defensive wingers and striker/wingers and that's certainly a favourite of TM. Not a fan at all of it but it's common practice by a few managers at the min.

Good sense being talked here ?

I'd forgot about him but seeing as you bring it up i'd certainly say he's on a par at least.

Transfer Window - Success or Failure

Classic move to try and take advantage of some looking to panic buy at the last min, Rovers jumped in with a rather odd and unexpected bid then someone could've put in 6 mill serious and it's job done if he agrees to go. I'd be interested to know who the agent was seeing as Nixon claims this was the case ! -
I like Gallagher he has some height and carries more goal threat that anyone we have now apart from Graham and Dack, a point worth considering to those who pan him. However i'd prefer him on a season long loan to see if he really is worth buying for sensible money. The Forest lad is interesting though so I wouldn't be against a punt for him instead if he has pace.

I feel we'll draw a lot again in this league but as long as the approach isn't back to groundhog day then it won't be too bad. Let's just get another point or three on the board the fixture list has been relatively kind in the first few weeks so it's all to play for. COYB

Not really, stack some money over here in some assets that might be worth double in a year or two whilst also avoiding some tax on your profits. Then if needed in a few years and your core business is struggling you've got some assets separate from it in a different country to cash in and pay back some of the money owed or more likely find a way of redirecting it to India without paying tax....again. -
Two minds on this, on one side I think if some of those bids yesterday were serious and they'd born fruit then they might have pushed the boat of on the calibre of loans brought in as well and thought they'll have real go next season. Other side is it was a very modest window for whatever real reasons so i'm half expecting just a couple of back up bods in costing not much and a bit of a reality check after a few days hysteria, target stay up nothing else matters.

Waggot might have looked at that a decided it was time for some window dressing for a bit of good PR ! Backfired a bit if so especially if you fancy another 1.5 million pound plus player in Jan and clubs and agents think you have 9 million going spare. -

The digs were because predictably all we heard yesterday on social media was of Burnley taking over Turkey, taking thousands and miles more than t'wovers ever did in Europe ! Decent following but as usual not up to the mythical numbers banded around and probably on a par with what Rovers would've taken. A bit disappointing though given first game in Europe for 50+ years and all the Premier league tourists you have at away games these days I have to say. -
I think it's absolutely nailed on he'll get another good deal, upside is we might get some decent back to back performances whilst he earns it in the next few months.
-
Evans seems set to play out his entire career at Ewood whether he's good, bad or indifferent and whoever the manager and whatever the league. Never been my cup of tea, more for the type of player he is rather than the guy himself, they've been obsessed at Rovers ever since we dropped out of top tier with having two defensive deep sitting mids. It really is time to freshen that area it's hardly been a raging success it was a weak link when we had a load of good players and top strikers along with the centre of defence and Evans was part of it.
-
Unless anything changes I think Dom is marked down for that position on the right so prepare to be .... A good performance on Saturday might nail it for him but if not hopefully they get their act together and loan in some real pace for the right.

I think Armstrong was the no 1 target all along and they've kept talking it down to keep others out and maybe not get expectations up so the Toon could hold out for more whilst Rovers came under pressure from our fans to get it done. Newcastle, agent and player also probably wanted to see if anything else materialised but I think it was on the cards all along not a B,C list turned to when others fell through. He ticks ALL the boxes and the price fits as does the confidence of people who kept saying we'd trump the Dack signing money wise. The messing with Bauer was odd and would back up theories of a budget of around two mill because it was the change from Armstrong they were trying to spend. If you wanted him and you had the kind of money banded about in the last 24 hrs you'd get a bit more serious even if quite rightly you wouldn't pay a million or more. Maybe he'll turn up in summer for bugger all though ! Not right sure how to take the 4 & 5 mill bids really but it's done and dusted now although failure to land a couple of quality loans using some of that cash to give us a fighting chance of a good season will be met with angst. Again quite rightly, Rovers have shown their hand now aided by the daft local journo ( unless prompted ) so I wouldn't be surprised if they have to just get boddies from the D list after being priced out of borrowing players even.
