[Archived] More Foot To Mouth
thenodrog replied to LA Rover's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
We've discussed this before (in fact I predicted that he'd be away this summer way back in Jan) and imo we should get his replacement sorted out now! That'll make his and his agents arse twitch through the next few weeks and at the same time send out a strong message to all and sundry that no one is irreplaceable no matter who they are. In fact although he has had a good season and I rate him I do want him sold this summer. Otherwise he will pussyfoot around next season knowing that he will walk for free to the highest bidder in 12 months time. If he has a decent WC and attracts lots of attention then all the better for us. -
Simulation A player who attempts to deceive the referee by feigning injury or pretending to have been fouled is guilty of simulation and must be cautioned for unsporting behaviour. So there you have it. Chapter and verse from the FIFA rulebook. 1. The sooner disciplinary action is taken from vid evidence the better. He should by rights have been busted over those 2 incidents that America highlighted. 2. How would we feel if Gerrard does that against us next season? Eh Eddie? 3. Not the best idea to alert the WC referees to his diving ability just days beforee the WC starts is it?

What a shambolic farce! ......Personally I'm bloody well loving it! -
In answer to your last sentence then I would have to say that Carragher was doing 'a very good job' in defensive midfield. If he had been left deep midfield we would have won 3-0 imo. They only scored because his position had been occupied by the inept Hargreaves. There was a point in playing the more attack minded Carrick v the poor quality Hungarians but should we end up against better quality opposition with a quality attacking midfield or a forward who revels in dropping deep then Carragher is perfect. Whilst our glory hunting boys Becks, Cole, Lamps and Gerrard are sodding off in some continually vain impression of the Light Brigade messrs Carrick and Hargreaves would get embarrassed against the likes of Requelme / Ronaldinho / Ballack etc. Chelsea play that way as did we last year and whilst Makele and Axe are'nt pretty they are damned effective and their role in a 5 man midfield must never be understated. One thing that worries me is that if the impressionable swede continues to let the press and media decide his team and his formation (as he has since he got the job) then he may now decide against Carragher in that position. Oh btw Wright really is an odious individual who frequently engages his gob before his brain! A loose cannon on live TV! As smithy says I guess he is just the 'token' pundit required by the pc. If they are not very carefull 'motormouth' will land them in seriously hot water.

Bolllox! There was NO foull. The Hungarian player lunged in quickly certainly BUT one footed and low! There simply was NO connection therefore NO foul either. Gerrard dived and if you cannot see that then I assume you must have missed all the slow motion replays. btw I was glad that it was saved too.

Can't agree with the last bit of that statement Fife. Fairer to take it as 1 point if I were you. -
Ever considered that it was already a 'done deal' gumboots?

I think that I must be the only person not to have missed Andy Cole. Sure the team was weakened but his constant scowling and sulking cannot have been good for team spirit. Talented without doubt but a real lazy bstard who always gave the impression that he put himself before anything else. He would as soon run wide for a ball as put his fingers in a plug socket. Nowhere near as talented as Cole but Dickovs honest willingness to chase and harry for the team was like a breath of fresh air. If I was a player it wouldn't have been long before I'd have found an excuse to have picked a fight with Cole. I also cannot imagine Hughes and his team putting up with him for long.

There is a ridiculously simple solution. I've said many times that when the inevitable happens and video refereeing is introduced into the Prem it will stop 90+% of bias and will make the Prem far fairer for the smaller clubs. 2 points at the Mags would have been lost but we would surely have taken 2 in the two games v Liverpool. But they would have finished with 4 less. -
3 years? Crikey thats gone quickly. Anyway well done LD. Has cummings packed in too? Some of his comments toward the end of the season were less than complementary to the directors etc which imo is tantamount to journalistic suicide in this neck of the woods.

Sad innit? So many people voting the way their Dad's told em to vote many many years ago? A strange but tangible aspect of human behaviour which politicians absolutely thrive on. Sad. -

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ers/4753315.stm Indeed. Shame of course for MJ himself and also for us who lost yet another 4m player that the insurance companies will have surely ducked out of long ago. Mind you no blame can be apportioned to them this time. BRFC's role in all this has of course been exemplary to the point of being foolhardy. MJ owes us a huge debt of gratitude. Maybe a bouyant and upwardly mobile Carlisle will give him one last try out of nostalgia. -
Yes definitely! but only on the p1ss with his mates.
-
Defoe always used to score against us when he came off the bench! Just as an aside Defoe may not be the most prolific striker but he is the best and most consistent striker of a ball. His ability to 'middles' so many of his shots at goal is excellent.
-
Why should Ericsson give a toss? He's been fired rem? As far as the squad he must be nuts not to take Bent before Andy Johnston. If Crouch gets hurt early doors or suffers a loss of form we have no 'back to goal' replacement should certain tactics require it. One proper target men and a load of midgets is farcical! Crikey everybody and their mother knows BRFC need a big feller up front and the England situation is just the same.

Dear BRFC .....Please don't do crappy stuff like that again. It didn't work at all in the Riverside. In fact it sounded pathetic. We couldn't hear it properly at all. Someone suggested it was Jack Walker at first, I said it sounded more like Jack Campbell and then we all agreed it was actually Jack Duckworth. Good vid though. -
He'd probably have been interviewed to replace Steve Bruce by Big club.

Setanta is supposed to be named after some mythical gaelic creature. Is it possible that the company might turn out to be the same? -
As if all this wasn't bad enough ..... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2087-2168926,00.html Just when he thought his personal nightmare was over It's just got worse for the Westminster lothario ....... http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2087-2168938,00.html His political career is in shreds so just how he still gets to keep his sumptious apartment (that Mrs Prescott spent a fortune of taxpayers money re-decorating) at Admiralty Arch, and the palatially splendid Dorneywood is an insult to the overburdened taxpayers and the grass root union members of this country. How does the hypocrite even manage to pretend that his politics and principles are of the far left? Try as I might I cannot think of a closer real life likeness to Orwells pigs from Animal Farm than John Prescott.

Nope it just means less money in the fans coffers and more to the players and their agents. The vulgar display of extreme wealth and even more extreme bad taste on the players car park will get increasingly er extreme.( ) Everybody should take a look on the BBurn End car park down at the Riverside corner......... it's like a 'drug dealers meet black rappers' convention down there.
