  1. Someone must have put a tenner on Rooney. Into 12/1 all of a sudden on Sky Bet.
  2. Those were exactly my thoughts when I saw the headline. Sounds like someone promising another "journey".
  3. So to summarise, the two new favourites for the job are two Norwegians, neither of whom have any experience whatsoever of English football. One however has a promising CV, and could do well, the other, the highlight really of his career is to win the SPL with Celtic (at a time when Rangers had been demoted) playing shite football and emptying half of Parkhead in the process. Unfortunately however it seems we have little prospect of landing the decent looking candidate as our newly appointed DOF has apparently previously fallen out with him. That about cover it?
  4. Lol, "dream ticket?" If I'd asked you to name your "dream ticket" at the start of this tortuous recruitment process, you wouldn't have come up with that combination if you'd been given a million tries. You just hitch your wagon to whoever seems to be the most likely to get the job at any given point. If there's a new favourite for the manager's or head coach's role by Friday you'll be saying we absolutely have to get them in instead. "Dream ticket" - Hmmm......"The best we can hope for after practically everyone else has turned us down" might be a more apt descriptor but whoever comes in we will have to wish them luck.
  5. Broughton, Knutsen, Deila - have to say I'm completely underwhelmed if I'm being honest. On the other hand you then you think of what has gone before, Mowbray and Venus and it's difficult to think that anyone could be much of a downgrade on that. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised in due course but not really the calibre of appointments I was hoping for.
  6. Anyone who says that from now on should be fined £1,000. We played the second half of the season in relegation form. (FFS).
  7. Agreed, and would be another very poor move if he keeps Park on imo.
  8. No, never heard of the site, although would have suspected as much.
  9. They've only just caught up with Ancelotti endorsing Ferguson and that happened round about the same time as the Great Fire of London.
  10. On reflection I wouldn't be either thrilled or dismayed with Warne before a ball is kicked. I'd have to give him a chance and see how he went on. My concerns would be his previous record at Championship level (albeit at Rotherham) and whether he is a big enough draw to entice Lenihan and Nyambe to sign. On the flip side, at least he isn't Mowbray and if he appears to treat the role of manager of Blackburn Rovers as a little more of a privilege and a little less of a chore like Mowbray used to do he'll have my backing until proven otherwise.
  11. Better than getting an unemployed manager off the scrapheap though? (Like Mowbray)
  12. The noises I've been hearing were that we'd be looking to speak to people who were in work this week so there might be something in it. What would people's thoughts be on this?
  13. Been very quiet on him hasn't it. Literally the only person I wouldn't mind off the HSH list.
  14. They are releasing titbits about the progress with the search (such as it is) to the likes of Sharpe anyway. The worry has to be that several weeks in, we don't on the face of it appear to be any further on. And all this whilst the owners have the wherewithal to go straight in and make an offer that can not be refused to their preferred candidate anyway.
  15. I wouldn't mind Ainsworth at all, but I was about to make a similar point. Allegedly we've had over 50 "serious" applicants for the role, and have conducted an exhaustiv process with several rounds of interviews. At various points the likes of Farke, Dyche , Carvalhal Jokanovic, Bilic and Hughton have also been out of work whilst we've conducted this supposedly exhaustive process. I wouldn't even be completely opposed to Ferguson either. After 5 years of the dour uninspiring Mowbray it could be a very refreshing change. However after making such a song and dance about going through such a painstaking process to make sure we find the right man I'd really expect a candidate of the calibre from the list above. There'd be a part of me that thought everyone down at Ewood was taking the piss if after such a long drawn out process we allowed the likes of Farke Carvahal and Critchley to slip through our grasp and appointed someone with no managerial experience like Ferguson. No disrespect to him as I think we could do a lot worse by hiring a proven failure of the Mowbray ilk like Pardew or Adkins but the general point still stands.
  16. He's got the job. Pre-requisite of the role if Mowbray's reign is anything to go by.
  17. Has it specifically been made clear a new man can bring in his own number two? Hadn't heard that, apologies if so. Also what have you seen from either our dynamic play over the last four seasons or from our warm up routines to suggest that Lowe and Benson are the best we can do?
  18. Promotions at Watford (Fifteen wins out of 20) and Fulham? Didn't work at at Sheffield United but relatively few managers go through their career without some sort of blip on the way.
